Just returned from a bank holiday weekend stay. The pitch we were booked onto had been subject to 'weather', therefore we were relocated close to it next to the site road. This was of no concern as we still had an amazing view of 2 of the pools which had water features which were shut off at night.
The reception/shop was located 1/2 a mile from the pitches. There were several toilet blocks around the site. The one closest to us was very clean no matter what time of day, and in spite of the amount of mud due to the weather. The push buttons showers provide hair/body wash, the sinks had soap and the washing up stations had washing up liquid pumps to save taking our own. The ladies showers were excellent, with a large cubicle, seat, shelf and hooks, however my husband reports that the mens showers were more 'communal', having a private cubicle to wash, however no space to keep your clothes/towel apart from out in the communal area, which could be uncomfortable for some. There was 1 disabled toilet, and what we assume to be a disabled shower next to, however this was not labelled and it appears that you have to have your own RADAR key to use it.
There was a takeaway on site (by the pitches rather than by reception) which was basic but fine for us, open during the evening for dinner and the morning for breakfast. We had a pizza and chips which were reasonable value and tasted great for our first night meal.
The staff were all very welcoming and seemed only too pleased to help. The receptionist gave us verbal instructions on how to get to the local town and also provided us with a printout of a few different walks. The shortest walk to the pub was 2 miles from the pitches (The Boat) which was well worth the walk, having good traditional ales and also excellent food. We would advise to go early though as it filled up really quickly, particularly in the bar side where dogs were welcome. It was really quite spacious though and although very busy we did not feel rammed in, there were 6 dogs in at one point and they were not close enough to each other for it to become a problem.
The site was very pretty and had a nice sized, penned in, dog walk for off lead walkies, big enough for smaller dogs or big enough to throw a ball for a bigger dog.
Overall, this site was very well managed and was very clean, with a well stocked shop. It is also very conveniently placed for the M6 junction 13. We would definitely stay here again

We stayed here the weekend before Easter, The weather was atrocious. As the site is open the wind just blasted through from the M6. The site has a large entrance, a barrier by the office/shop. Once inside you drive half a mile to the camping field.
The pitches are huge, well marked all on grass. There are a number of fishing pools around the site. There are two excellent play grounds for the kids.
There is a small takeaway on site, they brought our food to us at the pitch to save us from waiting in the cold.
The toilets were very clean. The mens showers consisted of private showers but communal dressing area.
All in \all this is a great site, well worth a visit.

First impression was that the staff were really helpful. We booked by telephone & due to traffic on the m6 was delayed, however they stayed on to wait for us.
This is ideally located for the m6. We were using it as a stopover. The village looked pretty & had what looked like a nice garden centre. The canal looked nice and a pub but for some the boat Inn may be a bit of a walk. There may be a nearer one but we didn't check.
It was very quiet when we arrived being out of season. The price £13 without electric was a smashing price! Only £18 with electric.
We had a pitch near the showers & lake. Lovely view. Toilet were clean. Bird life wandered around lots of grouse pheasants and ducks.
I would imagine in the school hols it may get busy with children as there are two play areas.
There is what looked like an enclosed dog area.
From the m6 you drive through a housing estate, but you come out the other side and into a rural setting quite unexpected. Views around were fields.
My rating is based upon comparison, we stay on sites with heated flooring usually, club sites which can be described as plush so please take this into account. But then I would expect to pay double.
Would I stay again? Definitely.

Just got back from a few days here. I booked on line and thought it was great that I could select the pitch I wanted though I will say the map on the website is a little different to the layout on the site (just have a look on Google earth).
Just a quick note to say take care when arriving from the north as the route my sat nav sent me had vicious speed bumps in Penkridge. On arrival the staff were very helpful giving us the site leaflet and map with our Pitch marked on. As previous reviewers have said its about 1/4 of a mile from reception/site shop to the camping ground. Finding our pitch was a little difficult as the site was quite empty and the pitch numbers are on a Paving slab. The pitches were all large and not at all close together. There was a small amount of noise from the motorway about a mile away when the wind was blowing in the wrong direction but nothing that you would really notice. I would recommend having a long electric lead as the points can be a fair way from the pitches
The on site toilets and showers were kept very clean but again as other reviews have said the showers are 'different' but free and unlimited hot water. Although there were times published for toilets being closed these were not stuck to and it was a case of have a look before deciding which set to go to (only 1 was ever closed at once). The playgrounds were both well kept and litter picked regularly, I know there should not be a need for this but what little there was was cleaned up by staff. The only time we had a problem with some children that were too old and intimidating for my 2 (9 and 5)and swearing the site staff dealt with it quickly and without complaint. The shop seemed quite well stocked and reasonable enough on price. We did use the Little fryer takeaway on site a couple of times Once for Breakfast and once for Pie and Chips for tea both of which were reasonable on price, cooked to order and really quite tasty
The nearest Pub is over a mile away on the edge of Penkridge which also has quite a large co-op and several smaller shops in the centre. Also there are quite a few takeaways (some of whom deliver to the site gate) and pubs/restaurants. We had dinner in The Bridge House Hotel and the food was lovely the service excellent and the price not bad.
Cannock Is a few mile in the other direction and has a couple of the big supermarkets and a bigger town centre.
There is Lots to do in the area and you are only a few miles from The M6 I would recommend a trip to the RAF museum at Cosford about a 20 minute drive away and its free entry you only pay for parking (£3. 50 for all day) and there is a few hand on bits for the kids to do. But with the site location there is easy access to that many things to do in the Midlands.
All in all a good reasonably priced site.

We are regular visitors to this site and love it.
The toilet and showers blocks have been extended this year and are clean and tidy.
There are 2 play areas, under 5s and over 5s. These are the best play areas on any site we have been to. Our 6 year old daughter and 10 year old nephew have played safely for hours on end.
The staff are very friendly and the shop is well stocked. The site itself is very well maintained and has lovely views across Cannock Chase.
Caravans and tents are pitched together and over the last few years, we have met some really friendly campers

This is a great site in a lovely location, a little pricey for EHU. What let it down for us was a group of fellow campers partying into the night, I thought the place was well policed but it turned out that some of the staff were at the party. The site is a 30 minute walk into Penkridge which is a great little place with lovely pubs and plenty of eateries.

Spent 2 nights here over the week end.
Very polite & friendly staff, grounds are well maintained & all areas were kept tidy.
We had a pitch over looking 1 of the lakes & saw quite a few people fishing. & actually catching so I'd say a must for any fishermen.
The playgrounds were excellent. All kids seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Pitches were of a good size. Some I felt didn't make the most of the views as some pitches were a little enclosed. Meaning they had pitches to front & back of them so only saw other tents / vans, whichever way they pitched.
Quite a walk up to the shop. But seemed to have most stuff that would be needed. Small take away seemed to be busy. My daughter had chips & was pleased with them. You can also have breakfast stuff. Sausage, bacon etc from here & they also sell ice creams.
The showers/ toilets nearer to the take away looked a little dated. But kept tidy. Will agree with other comments about then being quite small & the block at the top of the field are just a shower cubicals & communal changing room with a long bench & coat hooks.
Handy to have the vending machines to get a quick drink. Hot or cold & snacks such as chocolate & crisps.

This is our first visit to this campsite; we booked to go just over a week in advance of our trip and the website was great as we could see a map of the site and pitches available. Prices were very reasonable for the time of year at £21. 00 a night. We are a family of 4 and had booked to go with another family of four plus a family of three over the May Bank Holiday weekend. Unfortunately due to the poor weather forecast one group decided to pull out so we had a spare pitch. Check in was quick and easy at the Reception / shop, it is at this point you collect your pass which allows you access through the electronic barrier from which it is quite a long drive down to the fishing lakes and camping fields. Pitches are marked out by coloured paving slabs which is fine but not very visible when driving around a field. On the plus side, pitch sizes are very generous with plenty of space to park cars. As one family had decided not to come with us, we used their spare pitch for our event shelter and were not asked to pay any extra. Pitching tents was easy due to the rain that had been falling previously but this also proved that decent drainage was also present.
The facilities were good, not the biggest I have used but seemed sufficient enough. The only thing I was not keen on was a communal changing area in the showers and cubicles were on the small side; however hot water was plentiful and free. Also near the shower blocks were drinking water stand pipes, washing up facilities, a free communal freezer for ice blocks (based on trust) and vending machines for food / sweets and drinks. There is also a small take-a-way shop but I can't comment on the food as we did not use it. The shop at reception seemed quite well stocked, the only downside is that it's a rather long walk or short drive to go and buy anything.
In the immediate area is the market town of Penkridge, we didn't explore the town much but we did find a nice fish and chip shop along with a good sized Co-operative supermarket. We were also advised at reception that some take always can be ordered and delivered directly to your pitch. In the opposite direction is the town of Cannock which we didn't explore but saw a number of supermarkets including an ASDA and Aldi.
Overall Pillaton Hall Farm is in a great location for exploring and good value for money, I would not hesitate to go back there should we choose to visit the area again.

This was a one-night stand, en route north from the south coast to the Peak District. We were surprised to find the site almost empty, as when we booked we were told they didn't normally take short stays and assumed this was to leave pitches free for longer-term clientèle. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, facilities were close enough, clean and adequate. We were given a pitch near the entrance to the main camping area as we were only there for one night. However, this was still a fair walk away from the reception block. A wide range of local 'take-aways' providing to-site deliveries was provided as there seemed to be nothing in short walking distance. The off-lead dog field was well fenced and of good size. Clearly the site is intended for fisher-folk and the lakes/ponds looked good.

Awesome.
We were not really blessed with great weather but still had a fantastic weekend. The team on site take real pride in the site and work meticulously to ensure it is clean, well looked after and litter free.
There is a well stocked shop and the on site chippy serves fresh cooked food at reasonable prices. The toilets and showers are well located and kept clean. The access roads are good and grounds are all maintained. We were amazed at the spacing between pitches which allows you loads of room.
Many of the pitches overlook the lakes and if you enjoy a spot of fishing the lakes are all well set up, if a little challenging.
There is plenty of space for kids to play and 2 good play areas. The lakes are big, deep and not fenced off so if you have young kids you will need to keep a careful eye on them. We loved this site and re-booked our next stay before we left.
