The site has upgraded in a number of areas with more hard standing pitches since we last visited, 2 years ago.
Again as on previous visits, 11 in total to the Stowford site all the staff are very helpful and the site is very clean.
One area which gave me cause of concern, is the 10MPH speed limit is not adhered to by the site Landover’s pulling the caravans in and out of storage during the day around some parts of the site (Field 5 particularly noticeable).
Apart from this oversight I believe the site itself is worth a visit and the area around including the beaches are brilliant.

On arrival greeted in reception by lovely lady given info about site & map. On arriving at site discovered large curbs to pull caravan over to get to pitch on very big hill was a bit awkward as tent was pitched behind us couldn't swing round easily. Swimming pool v clean the couple who ran the pool v friendly & helpful regarding places to take kids in the rain. Was disappointed with shop opening hrs 9-5 in height of season!, takeaway- didn't know when open as no sign for times & only once found it open, bar didn't open till 6 would have been nice to get a drink after been for swim across the road. Playgrounds-well equipped but could have done with a tidy (they are also in middle of building work for a new playground central to site). Petarama- thought this would be good as my son (2 1/2) loves animals but they looked starved! staff didn't supervise animals which roamed around freely. A bit disappointed with this one will not be returning due to pitch & facilities.

It's a great site, very well equipped for all ages, they have just done up the 'barn' and pub areas with leather settees very comfy! The toilet blocks were cleaned regularly. It did rain but it seemed to drain really quick off the pitches. They are very flat for the tents! There is a lovely dog exercise area and dogs are allowed in all areas. The shop and chippy are run by fab fellas that keep you laughing. They also have a petrama with all sorts of pets its lovely for all ages. My daughter who is 14 enjoyed it, she liked the barn area where there are bands and its a huge place! It's a lovely place, only criticism is that it's a drive away from Ilfracombe and the beaches, but hey it gives you something to do! The parking at the beaches was huge, £5 all day everywhere so we dumped our stuff and hubby parked up a hill or its a walk down a very deep / steep sand dune. Mortahoe is worth a visit as it has a lovely cream tea area outside a cottage!

First time on a 900 plus pitch campsite, plenty of activities for the kids / entertainment. Showers were not great in the field we were in as only a few worked, toilets were a bit dirty could do with being cleaned a little more often. All in all not bad considering the size of the campsite. The only things I would say to any one thinking of visiting is take lots of care driving to the site if your towing a caravan, it is very tight through the lanes and there's no easy way of getting there once you leave the M5. When you get past Barnstaple it gets very tight and that's going the way the campsite suggests as the other way is even tighter. If you do manage to get there in one piece make sure you have booked a level pitch as ours was on the side of a hill, Have fun and take care

A great site, very clean, very friendly, just get yourself down there. We didn't find anything bad to say about this site. The site has everything you will need. However you are close to lots and lots of fantastic pubs, restaurants, cafes and all of the very necessary takeaways. In our opinion this one of the best sites around. Nice site to get to,not one of those where its a tight single track leading up to the site

Large site over 800 pitches. Facilities clean, although in October cold as they were not heated. Staff friendly. Shop was low on stock as they were closing on 2nd Nov. Swimming pool closed on 31st Oct, bar ran out of coke, lemonade and some beers, I assume that the bar was closing too. Picked this site as advertised as open all year, bit disappointed that the facilities aren't.

Reception area - very efficient with good clear information.
Pitch - very sloping, had quite a job getting it our caravan reasonably straight, fairly large though because it was on the end of the row.
Facilities - very up to date, spotlessly clean and reasonably warm, never crowded. Wash-up area could be bigger and the water was scalding hot (watch your little ones).
Dog walks - bins and bags provided at each end so they were pleasant areas to use (although there is always the odd person who doesn't clear up after their dog!) There is a dog-sitting service which could be handy if you wanted to visit somewhere that does not accept dogs.
Shop - had a wide range of goods, corner shop prices.
Camping Accessory shop - good range of just about everything you could need but prices high.
We were there for a week - the first few days we suffered weather of biblical proportions so the whole site was very wet! An overpowering smell from stagnant water pervaded throughout our stay which wasn't pleasant.
We were surprised that no mowing was done during our stay. Plenty of movement though from the site Landrovers moving storage caravans on and off pitches - and they don't adhere to site speed limits either. Otherwise a very clean and tidy campsite.
We did not use the catering areas but certainly noticed that their menu prices were very good. The indoor swimming pool looked very inviting and a great asset for bad weather. There are also riding stables, pitch 'n putt and a pets corner.
We took advantage of a price deal - £40 for the week (plus dog) which was excellent and there is so much to see in the area we shall certainly return.

Arrived on a Friday evening went to reception, myself and my wife were greeted with a cheery face and a lovely smile. We were given instructions to our pitch, anchored caravan to same then we were off for a drink. Smashing bar lovely people staggered back to caravan. Next morning look around campsite, plenty to do shop and caravan spares shop well stocked. There is some criticism in the form of hardstanding pitches hard to find - grass is a quagmire during rain and worst of all 'no bus service into either barnstaple or ilfracombe). In this day of global warming it would be sensible to keep our transport at the campsite

We visited this site with others last week. Despite the poor weather this summer the ground was not too bad it must be fairly well drained, although luckily we were on one of the higher fields. The pitches are large but very regimented. It is a very big site and as we were on field 4 a long way from the shop, reception, pool, playground and family bathroom which was a difficulty with lots of small children in our party.
Overall the shower/toilet facilities were very clean but there is only one bath for children which seems a shame on such a large site and you have to pay 50p for the hot water there where as on the rest of the site it is free.
The pool is very good and fairly inexpensive. The Petorama is quite expensive and the outdoor play facilities could be improved. The shop seemed well-stocked.
The area is very good with lovely beaches at Woolacombe and Croyde. There is a large supermarket on the outskirts of Ilfracombe and Barnstaple is within fairly easy distance.

Unfortunately the weather let us down during our visit but I have to say North Devon in our experience can be wet . A lot! The site was good although a bit large for my taste. We were in the furthest field from the facilities and it was a good 15 minute walk (3 minute drive!).
The pitches were in good condition and thank goodness we were backed right up a large hedge which meant we were protected to a degree from the wind which whipped across the site. Several people lost awnings and many in tents gave up and went home! The swimming pool was good and very clean but due to the weather it was very busy. There's a reasonable sized Tesco's in Ilfracombe, we just wished it stocked a few more dvd's.Moaning about the weather again!
Nearby are Watermouth Castle which is oaky for kids up to 12, any older and they get bored. The Milky Way and the Big Sheep are also worth a visit as is the Dinosaur Park in Coombe Martin but they're all geared towards kids under 14.
The shop on site is good with a very chirpy portly gentleman running it. There is also a very good camping shop on site to cater for the large numbers of people who store their vans at the site.
All in all a good site
