This is my first time at the site. I was a single parent with a 6 yr old daughter.
The check in is very well organised. Booked and paid on-line. Given a clear map and booklet of information on arrival.
The pitch was a very large size. Fitted my 6 man tunnel tent across with enough space for a car either side.
The site is very large and has 5 fields. I would agree with previous reviews that although the site is large it feels small. Lots of free pitches around and plenty of space. Each field has its own utility unit with lots of shower (all very clean), lots of toilets, 2 washing machines, 2 tumble driers and lots of sinks for dishwashing.
Caravans tend to have a water supply but tents don't. The water unit was too far away so we used the water in the sinks. All pitches have electric which is great.
Everything is very clean and organised.
There are lots of things to do on-site including pony riding, crazy golf, swimming, club house, takeaway and restaurant, shop and petting zoo. We went to them all and enjoyed everything. Lots of playgrounds and a nice playing field.
I would return to the site again but there are a few small negatives. There are rules on the site but they seem to be not policed and are ignored. Cricket was being played on the pitches which is annoying when there are large playing fields for this. The last thing you want when your relaxing are balls flying in your direction. The are cycles and scooters everywhere although there are signs saying this is not allowed. There was quiet a lot of noise late at night and early in the morning from inconsiderate campers. Again as it is a large site I was unsure who to contact. In smaller sites I have been to rules are normally monitor and checks are done around the site.
I hope to take my baby there in August. There is a family bathroom by reception for use at 50p with a bath. Also the swimming area has a unit to hold your baby in the changing room which is helpful and they will allow adults with a child under 4 to be responsible for more than 1 child, which is helpful.
This is a very friendly clean and safe site.

This is our 3rd year visiting Stowford, and they never fail to impress.
All of the staff are friendly helpful, and enthusiastic, the site is well cared for, the facilities are excellent although some of the cubicles in some of the shower blocks are a bit small and 'tired' (field 4).
The surrounding countryside is perfect for walking and site seeing.
The caravan servicing department is excellent.
I have no problems recommending this site.

Just returned from 9 days at Stowford Farm. Due to family problems we phoned the site to let them know that we would arrive a couple of days later than originally planned. The lady on Reception said that if we arrived after the office had closed, our name would be shown on the door of Reception together with our pitch number. We arrived after a 6 hour journey to find that our name was not shown, as promised, so I had to go in search of someone who could tell us which pitch we were on. After about a half hour we finally managed to find someone in the know. For those who did have their name shown, there was a small map of the site (which you would have to kneel down to see) to help people arriving find their pitch. It would be better if this had been larger and at eye level.
The site was well laid out with most pitches on sloping fields. The toilet/shower facilities were clean and tidy, water nice and hot (perhaps too hot for young ones)but more hooks needed for hanging clothes in the showers.
The food in the bar and the restaurant was good but we were disappointed in the 'entertainment'. All they had was bingo and a disco on a Friday night (which we were not interested in) and a mediocre singer on the Saturday. There was a pool table in the same building but they did not open up until 5. 30 pm. In a separate building there was also a games room but this did not open until the bar did. The weather was not brilliant for a number of days whilst we were there so it would have been good if we had had the option to go for a game of pool/snooker if the room had been open.
Little or no signal on mobile phones.
Having said all of this, we had a good holiday and would recommend the site (as long as people were not looking for good entertainment).

We stayed here for a week over the bank holiday. On arrival reception are very helpful. The staff in the caravan shop are excellent, special thanks to Alex (who put up our awning) and Freda for all your help. On site facilities are clean + modern, a good shop is open until 6pm, 3 bars serving excellent real ales. Doombar slipped down great. Wifi on site, but patchy signal, mobile phones no signal (Vodafone)

The site is beautifully set out with lots to do and plenty to keep you occupied. I found that if you wanted to you didn't have to leave the site with places for food and drink, whether its a meal or just fish and chips or a quiet pint.
I found that the dog day care was very handy if you want to explore the shops in Ilfracombe and Barnstable or other surrounding towns and villages. Also very handy was the on site parts shop which sells almost everything you could need on your trip.
The toilet and shower blocks were lovely and clean and warm.
Will return to this site.
(I have selected N/A for child friendlessness as we do not have children but when they come along we would be more than happy to take them)

Our first visit but we were so impressed that we shall be back again and bring the family. The toilet blocks were immaculate and lovely to have a bath available.
Reception were friendly and helpful as were all the staff on site. We tried the restaurant, takeaway and pub and the standard of food and drink was excellent. Sunday lunch was particularly impressive.
The swimming pool is a nice size and beautifully warm with clean well kept facilities and helpful staff.
We were in field 1 and our only worry is that nobody keeps to the speed limit of 10 mph and it would be risky with young children. We suggest some speed ramps such as those leading down to pub and swimming pool.
We enjoyed the crazy golf and just love the petting zoo and horse riding which along with soft play and swimming will keep the kids happy.
See you again soon.

This was our 4th stay at stowford. It's a nice site. Some pitches are steep. Has an indoor pool and lots of designated areas for children to play. But this year we didn't enjoy it one bit, there were dogs running free, we had kids playing football at the back of our unit, even though they were pitched right next to the play field. So I went around to reception to complain, on my way back I looked at the play field, it was empty. There is virtually no mobile phone reception, so if there was an emergency you would have to run around to reception to get assistance, which in some circumstances could be too late.

We liked the look of the brochure, and decided to go for a 10 day break, the week that we visited they were having an end of season caravan sale, complete with a hog roast, free tea & coffee, and loads of doughnuts. We went down with our 2 berth Bailey Vermont (285 miles one way), and finished up buying a nearly new Bailey Unicorn Valencia, what a cracker, the caravan sales manager was most helpful, polite and informative.
The toilets were spotless, day and night, (NHS take note) We found all of the staff very polite and helpful, the whole site was superb, their accessory shop is an Aladdins cave with everything that you could wish for. The location makes it very easy to get to the coastal towns. Would we go again, yes especially low season (£10 per night, you can beat an egg, but you can't beat that).
Thank you once again to all the staff at Stowford Meadows.

Stowford has been a massive favourite in our family for many years now. We have been going to Stowford for over 15 years and have never been disappointed with the facilities. Its a great family site with lots to do without spending much money.
Field one is ideal for someone with a disability as the facilities are excellent next to reception. Power shower, grab rails and nice wide doors so perfect for wheelchair user.
Field 2 is a bit of a pass through field which can have quite a bit of traffic passing at peak times during the day.
Field 3 is ideal for families who have children as they can access the playground, games room and swimming pool without having to cross any roads. Over the years I have stayed on all 5 fields.
Field 4 is a field furthest away from the clubs, shop and reception (i quite like this field as not many cars pass through.
Field 5 is a great winter field with under floor heating and draft doors which is great if you are staying over the colder months, there are cables overhead so kite flying is restricted.
Petorama is great (although some improvements could be made to cleanliness of the animals living areas, sometimes it can be smelly and not very inviting)There are fun activities arranged such as ferret racing and opportunities for people to feed animals by buying bags of food at the entrance.
The doggy day care is great, perfect if you want to be dog free for a day.
Shop. Stocks all the basics and some local produce, bit pricy but you expect that as there is not a shop for a few miles. Local supermarket is Tesco in Ilfracombe which is great. We tend to shop there when we stay at Stowford but buy daily bits and bobs from the shop.
Carvery restaurant is great, we went there for the first time last year and had a brilliant meal. Could not fault it or the price one bit. Would definitely return there.
Clubs are great, different entertainment arranged each night depending on the time of the year, in peak season there are visits from Combe Martin Wildlife Park where children can get up close with a selection of animals, which is ideal for families who don't have much spare cash to visit the actual park, they still get to experience part of it. There is a ball pit and soft play area in the old barn which is ideal on rainy days.
All shower blocks are clean and tidy and I can honestly say that I have never experienced a dirty shower block. Cleaners are always around popping in, wiping this and replenishing toilet roll & soap.
Local attractions are Woolacombe, Ilframcombe, Combe Martin, Braunton, Saunton Sands, Croyde. All with their own individual points. Red Barn in Woolacombe is a lovely refurbished pub which sells great food and good beer.
Morthoe - Ship Aground pub sells really nice coffee and cakes, perfect after a walk arond Morte Point, Bull Point Lighthouse and over the headland.
I would recommend this site to single people, couples, families with children of all ages. Its simply excellent and I look forward to a week away again in August in our tent.

Arrived on our 1st visit here in the worst thunder storm I've seen in a long time ! floods added to the twisty route after trying to navigate through barnstable! (On the return we used the route they tell you not to - its so much easier and more direct!)
Our pitch in field 2 was exceptionally boggy and very hard to site the caravan on. So not the best start! However the staff were friendly and the loos clean. The food was excellent and the pool heated. The horse riding great value ang the entertainment - entertaining.
We had a good week but the pitch never really dried out even after a few days warm sun at the end of the week!
Its a big site there's no getting away from that, even though its well split. But good value and if back in the area may well use it again!
