Our 4th visit here and the site is still as lovely as the first year.
Improvements have been made to the road by blocking vehicle access past the swimming pool, making it much safer for kids and giving more room for outdoor seating outside the bar / restaurant. Food in the pub was very nice as it always is, however the food in the chip shop leaves a lot to be desired, considering it is cooked fresh to order, it's just not making the grade.
The site facilities are always clean and tidy, with music and heating on throughout the night so no chilly loos here.
The shop is reasonable, and the bakery area couldn't keep up with the demand for their lovely warm croissants first thing in a morning! Definitely a winner.
The sheepdog display is always a hit both with the kids and the adults.
There are plenty of areas to walk with (or without) your dogs, and if you want a doggy free day and you get to the stables early enough, you could leave them there for the day- but they do only have 6 kennels so be there at 9am or you may be too late.
My only real concern was the petarama, I was not convinced that the animals were being really looked after, and I did send a message back to the site on our return, which hasn't yet been resolved.

We stayed at this site for a week. The site is kept beautifully clean and the toilet/shower blocks are exceptional. The best I have ever seen. There are plenty of places to go but some of the roads can be quite interesting (single track with passing places). Do not use the A399 to approach the site if towing (Ignore sat nav direction). The best route I found from the M5, if towing Is follow the A361 to Braunton then continue on A361 twds Ilfracombe, at roundabout take 3rd exit to A3123 at crossroads go straight on sign posted Comb Martin. Site is 1. 5 miles on the right.
We stayed on field 5 where all the pitches are sloping and you have to pitch your van facing down the hill which means putting it on the. Pitch tow hitch first. Some pitches require you to pull the van up over the kerb to gain access to the pitch. Blocks will be required, something that is not mentioned in the site brochure. There is a accessory shop and caravan/motorhome workshop on site as well as various restaurants and a swimming pool. During low season there is only entertainment at weekends e. G. Bingo, vocalist etc.
There are well signposted woodland walks and there is also a caravan sales area where you can buy the caravan of your dreams. On Saturdays they give away free doughnuts and coffee at the sales area. Prices in low season are very good £74. 00 approx for 7 nights, hard standing with electric.
Would visit again but be better prepared next time

Our 2nd year at this campsite and it still exceeds expectations. Huge pitches. Ask for a hedge pitch if you need shade. Never feels crowded. Hot showers and clean facilities. Indoor washing up: what a luxury! Great activities for kids. 20 mins to beach at Woolacombe. Friendly staff. No mobile signal and weak WiFi; that's a bonus in my book! So relaxing. We will be back.

What a great place to stay. We only had two nights here but felt well looked after and a valued customer.
Upon arrival the staff were helpful, courteous and gave us all the information we would ever need about the campsite and surrounding area. Unfortunately it rained for pretty much the whole weekend of our stay but this did not dampen our spirits. The water drained well from our pitch and didn't have any issues with mud etc.
The swimming pool was warm enough however I feel it did let the rest of the park down. It could do with a little modernising and updating to make it match the rest of the site.
The toilets and showering facilities were second to none for cleanliness. I was absolutely shocked with how clean and well attended they were compared to stays at other sites!
The surrounding area is beautiful and you have several different towns/beaches all within around 15 minutes drive. I would thoroughly recommend visiting Combe Martin beach and walking the path along the right hand side. It leads to some stunning views with cliffs and caves to explore with young ones!

When we arrived we were put on field 4 which happened to be right next to the field used as caravan storage, we did mention we were too far away from facilities but the receptionist ignored me and passed me the site map.
We were lucky that the weather was poor so we wouldn't stay around the caravan and go out, as literally every 5 - 10 minutes a Landover sped caravans to and from storage, passed our caravan for roughly 5 hours a day. Every day !
The site rules say 10 mph around site, however the rules didn't apply to the site vehicles seemed to ignore this and went approximately 20/30 mph.
We found the staff unhelpful, although we had communicated previously, the week before, we would like our light checked - as we had bought the caravan from Stowford, Wales.
On discussion on site they were evasive and I had to email the head office ( in Devon ) who had the Welsh branch liase, even though we were on site in Devon!
There were green trailer's for refuse but not labelled a neighbouring van told us where the rubbish went! It seemed most of the 700 pitches were seasonal and we found it was uncomfortable as we felt like outsiders.
Everything was charged for swimming, petting zoo etc. We did have food from the on site chip shop, the chips were tasteless, greasy and the oil was very strong it tasted like it needed changing.
On a positive note it was well maintained and showers, laundry excellent.
I would not recommend this site.
The site shop was well equipped however like the pub/restaurant the opening times weren't advertised, it did feel like they had their seasonal community and were not fussed on anybody else.

Had a really good stay here despite Storm Katie giving us a battering! The mechanics from the accessory shop helped us with two separate 'incidents' with a battery / flush / mover issue and a leak from the shower. Both mechanics really knew their stuff and it was so convenient to have them come and help us fix the issues. Ate in the Wild Pheasant once and enjoyed the food but portions were a bit small and the service for drinks was very disappointing. We ordered a bottle of wine well before we ordered our starters and I had to wait about 30 mins for it to arrive. Meanwhile my starter had arrived and I ate it without being able to have a drink with my first course which really wound me up. No apology, had to ask two different waitresses. It wasn't even that busy. Oh well. Ate food from the chippy twice and both times the quality was good as was the value. Not too much of a wait either considering it was the week after Easter. Pool was good, very warm. Kids enjoyed the petorama and horse riding. Other facilities such as playgrounds were mud baths by the time we came to try them. Would return.

Nice place, easy to get to. I liked the pitch we were allocated as it had a slight slope - essential for the downpours we had! Good drainage on site too, which was apparent after the heavy rains. I went with myself and the five kids out of season and it was quiet. I can imagine that the site could be heaving in high season and it is a very large site. Each field has its own loo block which were large with plenty of loos and showers with pipping hot water. Each block also has a laundrette (chargeable) with washing up facilities - they were always clean and tidy. There are plenty of things for the kids to do on site, lots of play areas dotted around and chargeable activities such a a swimming pool, crazy golf and a petting animal area (all are chargable but are not extortionate). Phone signal is virtually non existant and the site wi-fi didn't work, but that doesn't worry me too much. There is a well stocked shop on site, a fish and chip shop (nice!) and a restaurant. My only gripe is that the restaurant serves mainly the same food from the same kitchen as the chip shop but prices are a lot more. We went to visit relatives so only really visited Exmoor Zoo which was very easy to get to from the site, but the seaside is close by and easy to reach. We would visit again.

We really enjoyed our stay here despite the poor weather. The toilet blocks were immaculate with lovely hot showers, there were various options regarding eating and several playgrounds.
On the downside we felt the soft play area was too rowdy with no supervision and lots of children who were clearly too old and/or not controlled spoiling the enjoyment for younger ones.
The surrounding area is great with lots of places to visit only a stoned throw away.
Would go again.

We stayed many times at this campsite last year and we were back there with family this half term.
For a large camp site Stowford is excellent. Whatever field you stay in there is an excellent shower/toilet block with many showers and toilets so even at peak times you are unlikely to have to wait. There is also a regular daily cleaning programme so the facilities are always clean and tidy. The showers/toilets are even heated so perfect for spring and autumn camping.
There are plenty of pitches at Stowford and the staff are so helpful. You can choose your own pitch if there is availability. The favourite for my husband and I are on 'front meadow' as these pitches are fully serviced, have a hard standing and an excellent view across the field if you are on the front row. We also like field 5 and the pitches along the side - for example P135. These have a brilliant view and you can camp there and feel you are on your own (however, these pitches do slope).
We always take our dog with us and Stowford has plenty of dog walks and walking areas. There is a camping field where dogs are not allowed if you prefer no dogs. My nieces and nephew also love Stowford. There are several play areas, crazy golf, a petting zoo and indoor swimming pool.
The on site shop is excellent and they bake fresh bread. Also very excellent is the caravan shop and the caravan sales area. Staff are all very helpful and if you visit the caravan sales area on a Saturday afternoon you get a no obligation doughnut and coffee!
The only gripe we have is about the fish and chip shop. We did not enjoy the food last year ( the pizza s are particularly bad) and nothing had changed this year. Do t let this put you off though because everything else is good.

A very brief review, as on reflection, we didn't really use many of the facilities due to our limited time.
I was not a fan of the pitches, which can be very steeply sloping. We were supposedly on a flat field, but even then we were at the extremities of the slope a trailer tent could take.
The toilet block was immaculate, with very hot showers. There was also plenty of space for a bit of freedom and a wander as well.
Although we enjoyed it here despite the weather, we like seeing a variety of sites, so will be looking at other sites when we inevitably return to Devon.
