We visited this site the last weekend of April (May Bank Holiday). We booked due to the good reviews it has received on this site - and we weren't disappointed. The pitch felt spacious (on a slight slope) and the wash room facilities were clean and plentiful. We went with our baby who is under one and found the on site facilities very hand - the pool and shop were surprisingly large and offered good value.

When we first pulled up on the site we were a little disappointed. It was so windy, the toilet/shower blocks were cold, the showers were cramped and most of the facilities were not running (this was the first week of the Easter holidays). But...After we'd settled, the wind dropped, we found a better, more modern toilet block on field 5 and the sun came out, it didn't seem too bad at all. In fact we really enjoyed our stay there and even had a go at horse riding!
We have decided that we will go back again sometime next year as it's in an ideal position to explore the North Devon coast. It's advisable though to check what facilities are available outside of peak season if you have young children to entertain, i.e, swimming pool, games room etc...

This is a well run site but it is BIG. So big that people drive to the toilet block and don't always turn off their engines! This can be a nuisance at night if you are near the block. Also, there is construction work going on which results in a constant background drone of heavy machinery/tractors and the like from 8 a.m. to about 5 p.m.

Very nice site. Our first electric hook-up on a massive pitch. Satisfactory facilities (washrooms, shop, pool, club rooms). The site is big. They even have a field for your caravan storage (as well as a caravan maintenance workshop), impressive. The petorama for the kids makes a pleasant diversion. The locale itself is okay, but for those with young ones be prepared for a hot and sticky drive down B-roads to your choice of beach. Woolacombe, a family favourite is superb. Car parking takes the pee a bit. A well organised site, spacious, and clean. But, you will do a lot of driving.

What a week! Weather was the worst you could ever imagine, that said it was great. We were lashed by gales and swam the whole week as the ground provided our very own swimming pool.
But for the out of season offer we couldn't complain. Staff were so friendly, would like to think they were this friendly in peak times. Swimming pool was great, and very welcomed due to weather. Petorama brill. We did the attractions we didnt want to do in the summer, as the beach took priority. The big sheep great fum for all, especially the indoor fun palace. However i would give the dinosaur park a miss, although we did get a refund, i would not go with pushchair! Will definatly return at the same time next season

Had a great time here this July/August. Weather wasn't too good, but there is plenty to do on site and round-about. Great indoor pool (only £5 for a family of four). Kids love the crazy golf and the petorama. Club OK, prices comparable - even cheaper than some of the pubs at home. Toilets/showers/washing up areas always clean and tidy. Would recommend the site to anyone.

July 2005 Nice site but charge for everything they can think of. Would be nice if it had an outdoor pool free!! Every site I`ve been on has one. Also think it`s a bit bad that in july the club isn't open, they up their prices at this time of year. But other than that it was nice and clean with well stocked shop.

August 2005 Excellent site could not fault anything about the facilities at all, very long drive (Manchester) but worth every minute of it. Only 1 minor complaint we had to be off pitch at 10 for mid-day arrivals(nothing unusual there) but at about 9.40 a landrover arrived towing the next peoples van from storage onto pitch, we felt very rushed and as a consequence couldn't pack our cars as well as we like to which left loose items on the back seat with the kids (we had 2 pitches to pack). All said this is probably the best site we have been on and we would definitely return. Many thanks to all staff for an excellant weeks holiday

June 2005 We choose Stowford Park on a recommendation and were not disappointed. The site is wonderful and - though we weren't lucky enough to get one - some of the pitches have truly beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Don't forget to try the site's own Woodland Walk (but stick to the track - we didn't and got lost!). The facilities really cannot be faulted - shop, pool, petorama, bar etc etc were all great. There were plenty of toilet blocks with free showers (operated by sensor!) which were always clean. The site is also excellent value for money if you take advantage of their low and mid-season offers.
North Devon is wonderful - Woolacombe, Ilfracombe, Barnstaple were all only minutes away by car. There were plenty of coastal villages to visit and tourist attractions. I would give the 'Wildlife and Dinosaur' park a miss and instead go to the cheaper Big Sheep - a working sheep farm. This is a fun and informative We spent a great day there - despite the wet weather - and remember to stay for the sheep race in the afternoon - you have never seen anything like it! And don't forget to have your cream tea - I recommend the 'Terrace' in Combe Martin - massive scones and lashings of clotted cream!
If I came to North Devon again I would definitely stay at Stowford.

July 2005 Perfect! Beautifully clean, spacious site. Great amenities, toilets and free showers were spotless, shop was well stocked and reasonably priced too. Also has a well stocked caravan and tent supplies.
The swimming pool was lovely. The Pitches were massive! Beautiful countryside location. Fantastic dog walk. Woolacoombe beach is a must for all. We enjoyed it so much we would definitely go again. Bargain prices for low and mid season. Well worth a visit.
