Fantastic site with great facilities. Our pitch was on field 3. Lovely large pitch, pretty level with electric hook up and water very close.
The toilet and shower block was exceptionally clean. Plenty of toilets and showers.
Very clean dish washing and laundry area with a number of sinks. Water was nice and hot which made washing up a breeze.
Staff in reception were great, very accommodating about us arriving late Friday. Lovely staff in the bar area too.
Our 3 year old enjoyed the play area.

This is a very large site, split into 5 campsites, with a mix of grass and hardstanding.
On site is a shop, chip shop, bars, swimming pool, stables, crazy golf, indoor soft play, petting zoo, caravan spares/awning sales centre, and caravan sales area.
This sounds enormous, but even though the site was full, it was not noisy, nor did it feel crowded.
We were on field 5 on a hardstanding pitch. The hardstanding was solid tarmac, which would be impossible to put in awning pegs, so we didn't use the awning! Also the curb onto the pitch was very high, and gave us some difficulty in siting the van. The pitches are all slightly sloping, so take blocks.
The facilities on field 5 are new. There are more than enough loos and showers, with loads of hot water. They were always spotlessly clean, and we never once had to queue. Washing up and laundry are inside and heated, also with loads of hot water and plenty of space between sinks.
The whole site is immaculately clean and well cared for.
My daughter went riding, which at £15 an hour was great value. We didn't use the pool, although it looked a good size, nor did we use the restaurants. The shop wasn't too expensive, and we didn't feel the bars were over priced. We didn't use the petting zoo as that incurred extra cost.
Nearby are the towns of Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Barnstaple and Coombe Martin. We only went to Woolacombe, and paid £4 for parking, which we thought expensive.
There's lots of things to do in the area, as we've been to Combe Martin before.
We will definitely be returning to this site.

Great reception staff, easy to find pitch. We stayed in a large family tent(next to our family so 9 of us in total) in field five which has new a new shower block with underfloor heating.
Pool is cheap at £1. 50 not to expensive bars food is about £8 a meal.
The first night we had great food, so great we asked to book a certain large table in the pub for our nephews 9th birthday. This was all confirmed a few days in advance and even checked up on the morning of the birthday.
Unfortunately they mucked this up by not putting out reserved signs so then provided us with a table in another bar on a huge round table with 50 other people. The food came out in groups of 4 30 minutes apart. Very poor.
I found the chip shop expensive and they don't cater for young children.
Overall its a nice well looked after site, in future when not eating in the tent we will go outside for food

A strange campsite, more like a storage depot. It was early in season, but paid med rate, had no restaurant open or other facilities advertised. Swimming pool was being used for lessons for local children, who were running around outside unsupervised.
Toilet block was clean. The pitches are very sloping and some caravans balanced on boards quite dangerously.
The dog walking area and nature trail were small compared to the site.

This was our second visit to Stowford this year. We absolutely love this site! It is a very large site but does not feel so, as it is split up into several smaller areas.
Our favourite spot is field 3, which overlooks lovely countryside and is sheltered from the wind. Field 5 has a beautiful new toilet block but can be rather windy, and is further away from shop, etc.
This site is perfect for visiting Woolacombe, Ilfracombe, Barnstable, Lynemouth to name but a few!
Lots of facilities on site including indoor swimming pool (small charge), crazy golf, petorama, horse riding, pub, take-away, shop, caravan sales and accessory shop.
We find this site brilliant value for money, with large pitches. The only criticism would be that the hard-standings are not large enough to accommodate both caravan and awning, and more hard-standings would certainly be a bonus.
Can't wait to go back for our next visit 2012 and would recommend this site to anyone. Only wish we had found it year's ago!

We arrived on 'Bank Holiday Sunday' so the site was pretty much full, by Monday afternoon it had quietened down a lot. The site is really big, but as previous reviewers have commented, the smaller fields work well to make it seem more intimate (we were on Field 3).
As we arrived on the last day of the high season, most of the activities available on site ended on that day - eg kids clubs etc.
There had been bad weather so the ground was quite boggy but not so that the tent could not be pitched - slight slope but fine and a massive plot - I would estimate at least 9 square metres (the space from which can be a problem if you are next to people who don't recognise the unwritten camping rule of not walking accross occupied plots!)
There are loads of facilities on site.
- The Stable Bar is a bit more adult orientated but did have a kids disco on during the week.
- The Old Barn Bar is like a massive family room - which means that you don't feel claustrophobic and shoved in a corner like in some family rooms.
- We had the carvery in the restaurant on the first Sun night - really nice and plenty of it, great VFM and lovely welcoming staff
- We had some chips from the on site chippy - v good
- The shop is comprehensive again, lovely staff.
- The swimming pool was clean and a good size - 1. 1m at the shallow end so a little deep for our 2 kids (5 & 7) to be able to swim unsupported.
- Crazy Golf - nice little course.
There are plenty of other facilities - we just didn't get round to using them.
The toilet and shower block was always really clean - the cleaning guy was in there at 730am, in the middle of the day and at 1030pm, as well as a couple of other times in the day - he was fighting a losing battle against the grass cuttings but I found the block great all the time.
I think we'll visit again, there's plenty to do in the area and the site met our needs as well as being reasonably priced.

This is our second visit to stowford & we think its great!
Both times we stayed for two weeks & found plenty to do on & off site.
The toilets were always clean & showers are free, hot, powerful & also clean. I found the laundrette & dishwashing facilities were clean & tidy to.
Both years we have had rain & the pitches do get quite muddy but a man from the site came to help drain the water away.
If you are unlucky with the weather there is plenty to do on site, the is an indoor petting farm, an excellent indoor swimming pool, crazy golf & a great pub with big screen tv's & pool tables.
There are several play areas for the kids & most days have bouncy castles.
There is a big shop where you can get fresh bread & croissants every morning!
There is entertainment on every night (disco' or singers) & every morning there is a 'late breakfast club' for the kids with different entertainers.
There are plenty of great beaches to visit & a big variety of towns & villages to visit, I recommend a visit to cook island for a carvery!
A fabulous campsite would definitely go back & definitely recommend.

Having read quite a lot of mixed reviews about this site after booking, we were quite unsure of what to expect. We need not have been worried though as we found this site to be perfect for our needs as a family.
We were pitched in Field 2 which was a perfect location and very close to the toilet/shower block (which was always clean and plenty of hot water, not too hot either for children which I had read in other reviews). We had a short walk to all other amenities and the parks and the lovely woodland walk. We never had any problems with rowdy teenagers or noise from other holidaymakers and often saw security driving around.
We ate in both the bar and the restaurant on the site both of which were reasonably priced and the food was ok. The fish and chips from the site takeaway were lovely and I would definitely recommend this. The general shop was very reasonably priced some things even cheaper than the supermarket. Also the caravan/camping store sold everything you may need including repairing caravans.
We played crazy golf and pitch and put and I thoroughly recommend the pitch and put which was good value for money at £1. 30 for 18 holes.
Both our children had a pony paddock ride which was supposed to be for £5 for 10 minutes and we were told we could have the pony up until when she was next due out which ended up meaning our children got to ride her for almost an hour for £5.
We found the entertainment on the site which was held in the Bar daily at either 10. 30 am or 5 pm was excellent for the children. They particularly enjoyed Captain Coconut and his bubble making. There was a small charge for use of bouncy castles but we found the site to be so reasonably priced in the first place that we didn't mind paying this. We didn't get to use the swimming pool as our little boy was poorly while we were away but we did have a look and it looked adequate.
A great location not too far from the beaches but also surrounded by stunning views and beautiful countryside.
Overall I would definitely recommend this site especially for caravans. However, we did have a walk around some of the other fields and found that we were probably pitched in the best field as some of the others were quite sloping and open to the elements.
We would definitely re-visit this site in the future.

Just returned after 5 nights. We were lucky enough to be on field 3, Broad Meadow, overlooking beautiful countryside. Absolutely stunning!
The staff were so friendly and helpful from booking to buying groceries at the very well stocked and fairly priced store. As a family we felt this was an ideal site for us.
The facilities were great, superb location and lovely large pitches. We had a game of crazy golf which was great fun too!
If I have to make one criticism; I wasn't happy about paying to use the pool, this is something we have never had to do anywhere else. Although it was reasonably priced, if you were to use it on a daily basis it would soon add up.
This aside, we loved it there and would definitely come back!

Having seen that the site had space for 700 units we were concerned that it was going to be cramped and noisy.
However the pitches were huge, and as the site is split into five, well spaced out fields we didn't feel overlooked at all.
When we arrived reception was friendly and gave us clear instructions to our pitch. The pitch was nice and flat but did have a couple of slightly muddy patches, however other campers told us that they had almost constant rain for the past week, and that the previous day had been particulaly bad.
The toilet block was kept really clean and was shut for two hours each day for a thorough clean, the time of this was clearly shown and you could still use the blocks in the other fields. There was always plenty of hot water and we never had to queue for the showers.
The shop, takeaway and on site restaurant were all excellent and reasonably priced. You do have to pay for the swimming pool £5. 20 for a family of 4, but it has individual changing rooms, lockers and showers and is clean and well run.
The petarama is great although they do sell guinea pigs, rabbits etc so you may have to put up with kids pestering for a new pet.
The golf on site is only £1. 30 per person, but it is what you would expect for that price, that is just a fun pitch and putt course with uneven greens and very rough fairways.
The stables on site were very good and at £15. 00 for a hours ride very good value for money, the dog owners we spoke to were also impressed with the dog creche they run. Even though this is a massive site (I have never seen so many tents and caravans in one place), you get a really nice feeling of space and as there are no roads nearby it is very peaceful.
This would be our first choice of site if we come back to beautiful North Devon.
