We visited this site for a two night stay on the 19th June. We received a very warm welcome at reception and had a really lovely corner pitch on the site.
The washroom facilities were immaculate on arrival. Unfortunately we had quite a lot of rain over night which made the shower areas very muddy but apart from that everyone on the site was very friendly.
We would definitely recommend this site (and suggest pre-booking as we got the last pitch on the site) and look forwarding to visiting them again.

Excellent site. Very friendly hosts. Grass very well kept. Lots of trees to provide privacy around tents in one field (think this was pitches circa 9-15). Pitches 1-4 had small tree divide between. 5-7 no natural divide. Then in the bigger field there was a bit of natural divide but a little more open. All seemed good size pitches. The best shower / toilet facilities we have used. Well kept bin and water points. Close to Matlock Centre, although maybe a little too far to walk and really really steep hill on the way back. Local pub friendly with good beers but again you would have to face the steep hill on way back. We were there midweek and it was lovely and quiet with very sunny weather. However, should imagine it copes well at busy times as well as the facilities were very good. Free hot showers, free hairdryers and free sockets to plug in straighteners etc. No children's play area so children may be bored on site as no ball games allowed, but that suited us as two adults with cheeky cocker spaniel in tow. Would recommend and will revisit.

Just had a weekend at this site, it was perfect (helped by the glorious sunshine!). The owners where very helpful and friendly, pitches were marked which I prefer and trees / hedges etc - though pitches were quite small.
The views are beautiful, the site was still very quiet at 7.50am in the morning! A very relaxing weekend. The toilet and shower block is lovely all clean and new, hairdryers, separate wash rooms too. Being very picky, they could have done with a ledge or a stool or something in the showers as you could only 'hang' things on the 2 hooks provided. Overall very well looked after site 9/10.

We stayed here in May of this year and had a wonderful stay. The ground was flat, has good drainage and is nicely kept. Each pitch was marked out clearly and surrounded by pine trees which provides a nice amount of privacy. There were picnic benches between the pitches too which was a nice touch. The facilities on this site are excellent. The toilet/shower block was spotless, warm and very pleasant. The washing area again was spotless and there was plenty of hot water. The site even supply a freezer in the washing area for you to re-freeze your ice packs which was a brilliant touch. The owner of the site is very friendly and helpful too. This is a very simple site, no shop/bar/pool etc just very high quality camping pitches. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Visited this site for the first time in our 4 man weekend tent (Vango 450). A brilliant site with excellent facilities.
On the camping field there is a fairly new toilet/shower block with separate mens and ladies. In the ladies 4 toilets, 3 showers, 3 sink cubicles, 2 hairdryers and handwashing basins all free of charge. Plenty of pot washing sinks and all free of charge. Never any shortage of hot water and even though the campsite was full we never queued for a shower.
Very clean site, with adequate rubbish disposal etc.
Pitches were quite small, wouldn't want to take our Bear Lake 6, not sure if there are bigger pitches available, you do get asked what size tent you have when booking.
Had an excellent day at Carsington Water, and would recommend to anybody especially those with children, has got a brilliant playpark.
Overall an excellent well kept site and worth the £21 a night, would definitely return.

Fantastic campsite!
My boyfriend and I visited just after the bank holiday just for a spontaneous overnight stay and it was lovely. Showers lovely and hot, toilet and shower block very clean in general, hairdryers a great extra, brilliant washing up area and friendly owner - even after having been fully booked all weekend! We had pretty much our pick of pitches by coming after the weekend but all looked very nice.
Is easy to walk down into Tansley in about 15-20 minutes but walk back up the hill is pretty steep after an evening meal so we got a cab on Bank Holiday Monday for £5. 3 pubs in the village though and very close to Matlock by car.
Will definitely visit again!

We stayed at this site over May Day weekend, our pitches were a little on the small side for our Monty 6's and side by side there was little room for anything else despite being advised they were 'large' pitches. Its a good job we booked together and liked each other, I'd have been a little unhappy being that close to strangers! But, that aside, this is a good family site that's well looked after and despite there being no designated children's play area the children seemed to amuse themselves quite happily. Its a busy site but without feeling like its enormous and there are lovely touches like hanging baskets and planter all over the place.
Reception is essentially the porch of the owners house, ring the bell and she appears. Check in was hassle free and we were given a map to our pitches. There are lots of leaflets on local places to visit and walks and activities available in reception along with some 'forgottens' as I call them ie torches, disposable bbq, foot pump, cutlery, tent pegs. No food or drink that I'm aware of.
The toilet facilities I found to be modern, clean and tidy and of a generally high standard, they are also heated which is nice for changing into your pj's on a cold windy evening. There were 3 showers and 3 sink cubicles and 6 toilets and 3 other sinks in the ladies. I never had to wait for a toilet or shower. The showers are free as are the hairdryers and there is one socket for straighteners etc. There was also a baby change/disabled shower. There were 5 pot wash sinks and a small freezer for ice packs - again all maintained to a high standard.
I was impressed that there were water and recycling points throughout the site as well as picnic benches to move onto your pitch. The owner of the site was lovely and very willing to help. She was happy to charge the battery on our laptop in her house while we were out for the day and also offered the same for our mobile phones.
We found it to be very windy, I'm not sure if this was just unfortunate for us or if the site is prone to windy conditions - I don't recall it being mentioned in any other reviews. We did head to The Gate Inn which came highly recommended, our experience was not a good one, however I think this may have been isolated as other people on site were raving about it. As other reviews have said the site is on the outskirts of Matlock so a car is near on essential for shopping etc. We found a small co-op and Somerfields in Matlock itself and a large Sainsburys no more than a 10 minute drive away on the new road heading towards Matlock Bath
All in all a good stay and yes we would go again.

The site was lovely, I would recommend it. The toilet block was cleaned very regularly and there were hairdryers provided. The washing up facilities were excellent and there were several recycling / rubbish points around the site and water taps.
Picnic tables were also dotted around which I thought was a really nice thought.
There were trees and bushes in the camping fields which helped to give privacy and shelter.
The site was located outside of Matlock, but we had a car so that caused no issue. There is a small village nearby, but no shops in the immediate area.
I would've like the shower water to be a bit warmer, but other than that I could not fault it.
Will definitely use again if visiting the area.

We visited in the Easter holidays with 2 young children and would definitely recommend this campsite. The setting was very pleasant and peaceful. The campsite was clean and quiet. The toilet and showering facilities were really nice - lovely hot showers and great pot washing facilities with a freezer for ice packs and facilities for charging phones / dvd players etc.
We found this well situated for days out in Matlock and would definitely return if we found ourselves ion this area again.

This campsite has a great feel about it. The campsite is off the beaten track but has great facilities and the owners are very welcoming.
The pitches are numbered so it is clear where to pitch. The toilets and showers were new for 2008 and were kept clean. The showers were large and it was easy to shower with a toddler.
In the nearest village (approx 2 miles away) there are a couple of pubs that serve hearty meals.
We spoke to several people on the site and many people returned several times a season. We will definitely returning in 2009.
