Sorry to say we were not overly impressed with this site.

The pitch we had booked was uneven and small, the owners did however allow use to change to another pitch, this again was uneven and small but better than the first one.

There are very few pitches with EHU and tend to be small compared the the other pitches towards the end of the drive, these were much lager and flatter but no EHU.

The wash area was fine but the water was lukewarm

Needs addressing, toilets were clean and well kept but could foresee busy at weekends and school times due to the small nature.

Some road noise could be heard but not excessive.

Had a lovely two night stay at Packhorse Farm. Facilities were spotless throughout the weekend and never had to queue for toilets/showers even though the site was busy.

Pitches are well laid out and flat. They also have the added bonus of picnic tables which we thought was a great idea.

The site is in a great location if you wish to visit Matlock/Matlock Bath.

All in all we loved the site and will definitely return.

Lovely site, thoughtfully planned out into several areas separated by hedges.

Nice clean shower block with hot showers and separate wash/changing cubicles. Great pot washing areas with hot water too.

Most pitches have a picnic bench. There are lovely walks outside the campsite through fields.

We ate at The Tansley Tavern, on the main road in Tansley it's fairly small inside and they were busy, but they still squeezed us in. The food was good, lovely home made puddings.

Stayed here for a weekend with friends and we had two pitches next to each other. The camping areas are very well laid out, with clearly marked spacious pitches and lovely landscaped trees and hedges. The area is pretty much level everywhere apart from a very gentle slope in the lower field.

The facilities are excellent - very clean, roomy free showers with lovely full flowing hot water, free hairdryers and power points, a large pot washing area, again always with hot water, and a freezer pack fridge. The owners were friendly and helpful, with fresh eggs on sale.

The site is about 20 min walk into Tansley where we found a pub on the main road - we just had a drink, but the food looked good.

Overall, this is an excellent campsite for a very good price (£18. 00/night for camper and 2 adults).

We have stayed at Packhorse Farm Campsite for the past five years, always the first bank holiday in May.

Our first visit was May 2009 & the facilities block was almost brand new, the facilities are first rate & centrally heated they are keep spotlessly clean at all times & as a separate disabled facility.

Credit to the owners, the facilities block is as good as the day it was opened, clean & well maintained, as is the rest of the campsite, so keep up the good work.

The washing up area was added a little later, it is under cover at the end of the facilities block, always plenty of hot water, also located there is freezer for ice blokes provided free of charge.

We have for the past three years taken advantage of one of the EHU pitches & will continue to do so, as we visit relatives in Matlock, which is beautiful, as is the surrounding countryside of Derbyshire.

We are campers of 30 years experience; I would put this site high up in my list of the top ten best sites of the UK & would highly recommend this site.

The owners deserve all the good reviews posted on UKCampsite.co.uk so keep up the good work, we will be back for many years to come.

We visited this site because it was close to Matlock and were not overly concerned what the site would be like as we intended to explore a lot of Derbyshire during our 10 night stay. That said we fell in love with this site. We were welcomed warmly and directed to our pitch which was large and centrally located. We pitched in a hail storm and it rained most days, but the pitch never became overly water logged. We were able to play bat and ball outside the tent and it was lovely when a picnic table was delivered to us for our personal use.

The washing facilities were generally clean, you have to take into account that mud would be walked in as we were in the middle of a wet summer. Washing up sinks were always clean and plenty of hot water.

Over the weekend a loud family arrived and music blared out late into the night. Thankfully they only stayed two nights, but it would have been nice if site owner maybe did a walk round at night and reminded noisy campers to quieten down.

Loved this site so much we tried to book for May bank holiday weekend but they were fully booked, they kindly recommended somewhere else. Hoping to visit again this September.

We had a lovely 7 night stay on an electric pitch next to the wash area, thought would be noisy but wasn't to bad except for one night when a group washed up about midnight!

Found staff helpful and friendly.

Nice lay out, liked the bench and table next to pitch was very handy. Nice touch.

All amenities of good standard, plenty of hot water, showers clean and hot, better than most hotels/BnB's I've been to!

Fresh eggs on site to.

The only gripe was the barking (overnight) from the nearby kennels for the first couple of nights. When I spoke to the owners of the site, they said was due to a dog that comes now and again, and will settle down soon.

Apart from that had a great week.

Would definitely stay again.

We have just spent 6 nights at Packhorse farm and it was a positive experience.

First of all, the owners are really nice, kind and always available should you need them. They open up their home as a reception from 9. 30am-9. 30pm and after that there is a phone number should you need it. - this is really accessible and good to know.

The pitches are flat, we were in the bottom field and were able to choose our pitch on arrival. There is a large pot wash area and freezer for the blocks. The toilet block is cleaned every day; early afternoon and is spotless when cleaned although due to the afternoon clean, they got very muddy in the toilet and shower area in the morning. There are not many electric hook ups so book early if you want them.

It was full being the summer hols and the wake up call of kids was very early- so I found my new love, ear plugs and it worked wonders.

I would not hesitate to go back again, but probably in a quieter time period.

This was our first weekend camping. It was a great success; the weather was brilliant.

We booked last minute, but no problems, the owners were welcoming & helpful.

The campsite was great, well laid out; with all the facilities required for a comfortable stay. The showers were great with the added luxury of heated shower room.

We were within close driving distance to visit Monsal Trail, well worth a visit, stunning!

Just had 9 days camping at packhorse farm what a great site it is, nice flat ground and good draining as we did have a bit of rain heavy at times but soaked away well.

The owners were nice and would come for a chat.

Matlock is just down the road if you need some shopping. The farm eggs are lovely, our granddaughter loved taking the dog for a walk around the site,

The amenities are excellent central heated toilet and shower block and always kept clean, so was the pot wash area which also has a freezer for ice blocks. Bbq bricks provided along with park benches for you to use outside your tent.

Well done packhorse farm and thanks for a nice week, would recommend this site to anyone. Loved it its a must and will be back.
