We stayed here last year and loved it, we had a georgeous pitch in between some trees, which was pleasantly private. We were also close to the toilet/shower block, which was new and incredibaly clean. There are also hook up points at some pitches and mains in the shower block to charge your mobile. We are looking to go back this year, as it is so close to matlock, one of my favourite places in england. The campsite was in walking distance and from coutry side to town was a lovely walk. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a country break.

We had a nice experience with this site. The owner was very helpful and the booking process quick and simple. Plenty of brochures telling of whats on in the local area.
There is even an Indian takeaway that would deliver to your tent!Nice walks around the campsite.
Was quiet at night but on walking to the loos at night I noticed there was groups of tents where people were huddled together laughing and chattering.
A lovely sound on the campsite, I always find. Toilets were pristine which is just how we like it. A five minute drive into Matlock. No shop or kiddies playground but not missed.
All in all a fab site. Will definitely visit again.

Just had 3 mid-week nights on this charming site.
The site offers some fantastic views, but be sure you have accurate location and directions.
Our reception was friendly and an A4 site layout was provided showing our pitch and general layout.
Reception had plenty of walks and to-do leaflets
The Campsite and adjacent Caravan site are separate, each having their own facilities.
Toilet, shower and pot wash facilities are very clean.
The site was quiet (midweek) and to us the site layout was best we have seen todate, with many pitchs separated by bushes and trees giving a sense of privacy. This also offers a level of protection from the elements.
There are a numbers of pubs/eating houses in Tansley and Matlock is just a couple of mile away having English, Indian and chinese restaurants etc.
The site has a dog walk area plus plenty of lanes to walk with some lovely views right on the door step.
We will definitely recommend to friends and plan to return asap.

This was first stay at Parkhorse farm as well as our first time away with our 5 month old son. The owners were very friendly and helpful, booking was no trouble at all.
When we stayed the camp was quiet just before the build up to summer break. Those there were friendly and everything was well set out. The toilet block, with baby change and disabled facilities, were simply fantastic. Both us and others on the site commented on how good they were. Clean, warm, plentiful and above all, included in the price!
The pitches, we went electric for this trip, had plenty of space for tent and car with hedges between or some with trees round them. The site is broken into four camping areas which all seem sheltered from the wind with hedges acting as windbreaks.
Within easy travelling distance for Matlock and other areas. We didn't do the walk to the village pubs but we drove down there out of curiosity, be warned its very hilly!
We would certainly recommend as well as return in future. Value for money.

Small camping field with no facilities for children, which is why we chose it, we couldn't have got it more wrong. Originally wanted EHU but we were told none was available for our required dates, we were very disappointed and angry as we drove past the quiet caravan/ tent field which was over 3/4 empty all the time we were there.
When booking we asked for a quiet pitch for a large trailer tent- we had to pitch on a tiny corner in the middle of about 50 family groups, the noise was unbearable! Sustained damage to the tent poles and car due to our tent being used as goal posts, we never saw the 'panoramic views' or the owner once we had booked in. Toilets are amongst the best I have seen and are kept very clean. Good washing up facilities and free use of freezer near wash up area for ice packs.
The nearest public house is over a mile away via a very steep hill and narrow road (and it wasn't very nice either, avoid the pizzas)The village, if you can call it that, is not within walking distance with the best pub being the Tavern at Tansley, good food, good beer but on a main road with beer garden at front?
The other pub is very run down and we didn't go in. Bit of a trek to Matlock, nice park, a Sainsbury's and some shops, avoid Matlock Bath on Sundays unless you like motor bikes, very noisy and smelly.

This was our first weekend in our tent with two children ages 2 and 6 we had a nice time there was nothing on site for children however they did make friends and the site owner had told us of some out door games that were available for us to borrow.
I found the booking process very easy and the owner was nice the pitch we had was 13 and 14 we only booked 1 pitch but we were told number 13 was to near to the road so we could put our car there and it was a great pitch.
The shower block was clean with excellent showers and the washing up area was very good also having a freezer out side next to the pot wash was handy.

Nice experience from start to finish. Booking very easy and clear map provided on arrival for the pitch. Owners very nice and helpful. Toilets and shower block spotless and warm with free hot showers.
Nice and quite after 9pm despite being almost full. Close to pubs and not far to nearby town for shopping.
We pitched a tent on pitch 42 and found the ground level and easy to peg ( no rocks etc). Despite rain in the night the pitch stayed reasonably dry.
A good base for Matlock and surrounds. No bad points for us at all.

This is a wonderful campsite, it is clean and tidy and very well organised. The plots seem well laid out so not too crammed in when the site is full.
The toilet/shower block is fantastic with free hot showers.
They provide bricks for your BBQ and even advertise the local indian takeaway who will deliver to your tent!
Excellent pot washing area and freezer for ice packs. We shall definitely be staying here again.
The only thing that could improve this site is if they could have the local pub a bit closer as it's a bit too far to stagger back from! ;-)

We (Me my wife and my 1 year old daughter) have just returned from 3 nights at this site.
This site was impressive from the word go. It felt small and intimate with lots of natural screening from hedges preventing the lots of tents in a field type vibe. This resulted in a communal feel about the site.
The owner was really helpful throughout the booking process and very accommodating to our late arrival.
The shower and toilet facilities were nice and new and always clean (and we did have a few torrential down pours during our stay.)
Our only let down was the lack of any form of shop. We are disorganised people so found on the last night that additional food would have been good for dinner. You can order Indian take away to be delivered but this felt a bit too much like cheating.
All in all a lovely site.

We decided not to venture too far on our first night of camping and really wanted to see how the children would react to sleeping in a tent.
We chose to go on a Bank Holiday weekend but only from the Sunday night and only for one night. On arrival the owners were really helpful and when I booked I had commented that my husband was worried about being too cramped in.
We had no reason to be worried we were given a choice of pitches and were taken to see them before we decided. We have a great pitch (in a corner away from anyone wanting to laugh at us for quite obviously being 1st time campers!.
The toilet facilities were excellent as I am very fussy about public toilets this was something else that worried me. There were very clean and I loved the idea that not only were the toilets and showers in cubicles but sinks were as well so you could get washed in private.
There wasn't a play area for the children, but they soon made friends with other children and it became difficult in the end to get them to come back for tea!
We would definitely go back again and now we have a plan of the site we can also book a pitch in advance which is great for us.
