Spent a night in a motorhome, good flat grassy site
About 5 minutes walk to Ford Station
Riverside walks close to site
Shower and toilet facilities rather dated but clean, you need to pay extra to use showers, bath and hairdryer.
Our pitch was in 'quiet paddock' which is adults only. However there was noise from the road so not very quiet!
There did not appear to be any drinking water taps or electrical hook up in quiet area.
The pub on site was excellent with an extremely friendly host, the food was very good, reasonably priced, booking in advance is required. However they also do a takeaway service if you don't feel like getting the barbecue out!
There is a small play area for kids.

We were looking for a campsite close to Arundel as it's an area we hadn't explored much in the past.
Although it looked very busy when we arrived, the site felt calm and relaxed, and we were particularly grateful that there was a separate children-free area at the end of the campsite.
The location and surroundings were great (very close to Arundel and the sea), although unfortunately we found the surroundings quite loud most of the time we were there. The railway line is easily audible from the campsite and the trains seemed to be running once every 5 minutes, well into the evening too (they were still running when we went to bed around 2100-2200). Also, as a main road crossed the railway line you got the noise of a train, followed by a constant roar of the cars that had built up at the level crossing! If you are looking for a dead quiet campsite then this might not be for you. Oh and there were some kennels nearby evidently full of yappy dogs too.
On the upside the facilities were great, the shower / toilet block was kept clean, the showers were nice and hot (50p for 10 minutes which was ample), the camping pitches were level and smooth, and nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and attentive owner. The little shop was also stocked with a wide range of essentials and leaflets of things to do in the area. We didn't try the pub on site so can't comment on that.
Overall we had a nice stay but I guess were just used to being in the middle of nowhere where you can only hear birds in the trees!
West Beach in Littlehampton was lovely (lots of sand at all times except high tide), the Arundel Wetlands centre was an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and the Amberley Heritage Museum was absolutely fascinating. Both the Milne Electrical Collection and the BT Connected Earth exhibitions were extraordinary and alone were worthy of the very reasonable entry fees.

First of all, the good points.
The site is very scenic, trees, bushes and reed beds surround the site, and the play area for the children.
Now for the downside points.
The caravan pitches are small. We had a porch awning, as soon as you step outside the door of the awning I could bang on the next persons caravan window. It is that close.
The toilet block. It is very basic, but needs updating.
The shower cubicle is small, if you was a larger person you have difficulty in turning around or trying to dry yourself.
The pipe work is loose and it looks as though it could fall off the wall. Also the tiles are cracked.
The toilet cubicle is the same size as the shower cubicle. I had to stand astride the toilet seat to open the the door to get out.
You need tokens to use the showers, which can be bought from the site office or the public house which is on the site.
Even though you have paid for your pitch and hook up. Still need to purchase a token.
There are only two showers for the ladies and three for the men. So get in quick or you have to wait.
The chemical toilet waste is the same as the dirty water waste and also if you have water left over in your water barrel, you have to use the the chemical toilet waste.
So you could get chemicals onto your clean water barrel.
The height to put the toilet and waste water is about a foot high. I had to help a gentleman to lift his waste water onto the foot high wall.
The local pub on site beer prices are very high. So we did about a 5 minute car journey and found a few pubs that did food and cheap drinks.
The main town of Littlehampton is not far away as the village of Arundel. Here you can see the castle or the wetland centre.
Bognor is about 15 mins away. So if you want to visit Butlins for the day, you can.
There is a nice walk along the river by the site. Its flat so no hills to climb.
Think twice about visiting this site. If you look around there are quite a few caravan and camping sites nearby.

First visit to this site for late May bank holiday weekend. I went by train and it's a short walk from Ford station so is ideal for travelling. The lady in the reception/shop is absolutely lovely, as other have said the shop is fairly basic but adequate. The site was quite muddy as the weather was far from ideal. We went by train to Bognor on Sunday when it was sunny and had planned to travel to Littlehampton on Monday but awoke to persistent rain. We went to Tangmere Military Aviation Museum instead (in friend's car). The museum is marvellous and I recommend it highly.
The facilities are clean and perfectly adequate although only 2 showers so there may be a wait in busy times. The bath was good for my friend's small children - 50p token for shower/bath/hairdryer gave plenty of time.
We had dinner in the pub on two evenings and it was good food with large portions and the landlady was kind catering for vegetarian children.
The children loved the small play area but weren't so keen when I suggested a walk along the river! We walked a little way but not right to Arundel so hopefully can do that next time.
The site provided some bricks to put under disposable bbq which was useful.
I loved the site and hope to go when the weather is better - it's lovely and quiet although we did notice a bit of noise from the road and from the railway in the distance but mostly the birds and the geese! As these are natural sounds I didn't object to them at all but my friend's mum didn't seem to like the loud birds oddly.

Just a 2 nighter, sole purpose to visit Amberley museum.
Greeted by the owner who was more than helpful and decided to change our pitch to one much nearer the services when she saw we were both disabled, thankyou.
Easy access, well signed, watch the speed bumps on the approach road.
Pitch spacious and grass well kept, short and level.
Didn't use the facilities as use onboard though judging by the Elsan tip and washing up area probably kept spotless. Entry by keypad so only accessible to site customers.
Reception doubles as small shop with a few essentials although opening times limited.
Very quiet although could hear the trains passing through Ford station, not loud enough to be intrusive.
Surrounding area, shops in the village of Ford and the magnificent Amberley museum just up the road.
Pub on site, very friendly and first class grub.
Will at some time return to visit Amberley again and see a little more of their 37 acres of exhibits.

Just got back from a one night stay at the Ship and Anchor Marina Campsite. Quite accurate reviews on here.
Not much traffic on Ford Road after 10pm and we couldn't hear the A27.
Lady Warden went through the rules. One of the rules was the gates are locked at 9pm so you can't get your Camper in or out after that time. Not a problem for us with young children needing to get to bed.
The toilet and shower block are very dated but very clean, 50p token for a 10 minute hot shower.
The kids loved the small grass playground.
Camp shop was only open at certain times and looks like it hasn't changed for years. A really traditional camp shop.
We did the 1 hour walk along the river to Arundel and went to the castle. After that came back and had a meal in the pub. All highly recommended.
We'll go back if we're in the area.

Another good bank holiday weekend at Ship and Anchor campsite. The owner was super friendly as always and the pitches well maintained. Pub on site and river walks next to the campsite, perfect! The facilities are very dated but kept clean. Two adults in campervan with electric hook up, only £21 per night over a bank holiday, bargain. Will be back soon

Have visited this site previously and even though then the toilet & shower block was dated it was clean, Cannot say the same now, it really does need pulling down & starting again!
The owner is a lovely lady and its a shame that the site is not kept up to date. Location is ok and its nice to have a pub on site that serves food, although I cannot comment on the food as the night we planned to eat in there was told its the chiefs night off so only the food on the board was available as this was not really what we wanted did not stay to eat. Land lady seemed very nice.

Myself, my same sex partner and Dad stayed at this site for a couple of nights last week in our motorhome.
We arrived and unfortunately the card machine was not working. This wasn't an issue and we were told that we could pay the next day. The male staff member showed us to our pitch which for the price we paid was of an ample size. It was also nice as it had wooden separation points for each unit so people were not on top of each other.
After we had set up we left to go in to the lovely town of Arundel where we sampled the local ales which were very good. When we returned we thought we would try the pub and sample the food.
The female manager of the pub was as mad as a box of frogs, but an absolutely lovely lady and nothing was too much hassle. The food was really nice and really good value for money, two courses for £10, and it is all home made and served piping hot.
The washing facilities at the site are dated and could do with a face lift, however they do the job and were spotlessly clean at all times. You do have to pay an additional 50p per shower however you get plenty of time in the shower and the water is really hot and powerful. In all honesty myself and my partner could have both showered separately the amount of time that you get.
The owner of the site also appeared to be a lovely lady, very friendly and chatty too. She was always around, so if there was a problem it could be sorted out.
I honestly can't fault this little site. We did go however when children had returned from the summer break, so the site was quiet, it might be different at busy times.
Really worth a visit.

Just back from three nights at this great little site. Choice of electric hook ups hard standing.
Toilets, showers, washing up facility. 50p disc required for shower plenty of time and hot water.
Facilities are dated but clean. Site has a small play area with slide etc for children.
Site busy pitches a little crammed together but all very friendly. Adjacent pub very handy but not open on Mondays. Had a very good meal 2 courses £10 not as expensive as some people have commented. Good beers also on tap. River Arun is along side and supposedly an hour walk to Arundel in one direction and also an hour in the other direction to Littlehampton. We made use of the train Ford Station 10 min walk away £3. 30 return the one stop to Arundel. 10 mins walk from Arundel Station to Town but well worth it as Arundel is a beautiful place. Castle, Cathedral & pubs restaurants. Arundel Festival well worth going to with many venues open displaying artwork / crafts / sculpture etc. Organ Recital at the Cathedral excellent. Model railway shop next to Ford railway station an unexpected pleasure.
Hope this wont be the last time we go there.
