This campsite not only offers a great location with a pub on site, a reasonable walk to Arundel or Littlehampton and short distance to Ford train station.

It also offers a friendly and refreshing warm welcome from Helen, lots of information about the area and great facilities.

Helen ensures everyone’s needs are met by using different fields for different groups of guests.

We had the bottom field which was predominantly couples wanting a quiet weekend whilst families and larger groups were in the main field nearby the play park etc.

A great site for paddle boarding or canoeing given it’s location right on the river Arun.

We had a great time at the ship and anchor marina campsite.

The owner Helen was very accommodating take us in at very short notice.

She showed us around the facilities which where all clean and in fair condition.

The site was small but was perfect for us as a family with 2 young children.

We will definitely be going back.

A site I used over 15 years ago and is still the high standards we expected

Clean communal areas, friendliness from the camp steward and guidance was clear about our visit

Communication prior to visit was clear and understood

Can't wait to return next year

The owner is so helpful and welcoming. We could choose where to pitch. It was very family friendly.

It was very quiet and friendly on site. The shower blocks, washing up station and clothes washing station are very clean and roomy.

The children enjoyed playing with others in the play area and on the field.

We enjoyed exploring the riverside walk, a meal at the pub, the model shop at the station, Ford market, local beaches, Littlehampton arcades, and Arundel.

We will be back.

Helen went beyond the call of duty to help me plan my free day. She gave me a lovely map and advised a walk along the river to Arundel.

The toilets and showers were fascinating…. Like something out of the 1970s and spotlessly clean.

I would return. It was well kept and the views in the evening along the river were great.

If you like railways or boats you would enjoy it, there are trains passing nearby Ford station very regularly.

We had a lovely few days on this great site.

Quiet and well run with pub serving nice food on site. Walks along river to Littlehampton or Arundel if you have time and energy to spare, or easy train ride to either from station a few mins walk away.

Old fashioned but clean and functional facilities with hot showers and even a bath! Very good value.

Thoroughly recommend.

 Great campsite. Simple and clean.

Lovely walks close by along the river and a nice little play park for our little ones.

Many thanks, we will return.

Not the first time I've visited, and won't be the last. Helen is a delightful host, the personal greeting when you arrive is very welcoming.

Having a pub on site is a bonus if the weather's not suited to going far from the tent (as it wasn't this weekend), and the site facilities are simple, clean and all that you need.

I choose to pitch in the back paddock, which means a bit more road noise (and this time a nearby farm's bird scarer going off all day. ) but a really uncrowded field, which I like.

Obviously you have Arundel, the River Arun, Littlehampton etc all within 10 minutes - personally I went for a quiet weekend sat in or outside the tent relaxing, and as usual it didn't disappoint.

In these days of sometimes extortionate campsite fees (I'm looking at you, Caravan and Camping Club!), Ship and Anchor is a bargain, really good value for money.

Highly recommended.

 Lovely campsite,

Helen the owner was really helpful,

Very nice pub and we had a lovely walk into Arundel from the site and then got the train back as Ford station is just down the road,

Would highly recommend

We enjoyed our stay for 2 nights. We used to visit this site about 25 years ago and the facilities don't look as though they have been updated.

There are 2 showers and lots of toilets but unusually it has a bath. Lovely for a good soak. Having said that the site is perfectly clean and friendly.

We normally eat in the caravan but decided to eat at the pub, on site. The food was so delicious and piping hot that we ate there the second day. The Landlady was so friendly and also spoilt our Staffy. It was great knowing we could take the dog inside.

The river Arun runs along side the site but that could do with cutting back the grass as it was not enjoyable to walk the dog.

The town of Arundel is 5 mins by car and also in the opposite direction is Littlehampton. Both are close enough to walk to but it would be more enjoyable if the footpath alongside the River Arun was cut back.

Would we visit again, most definitely.
