This site is a little gem we love it, this was our 4th visit and we have decided it is one of our best sites.

It is back to basics camping but it ticks all the boxes for us. Its quiet has a pub and a train station with in a 5 min walk which goes everywhere. It has a lovely river walk along the river Arun which is great for the dog, you can walk to Arundel if you are feeling fit, it takes around an hour.

The shop is basic and is only open for a short time in the morning and evening so don't rely on it for supplies but there is a tesco nearby. The showers take tokens which are 50p but worth it as you get a descent amount of water.

There is a playground for kids but they are kept away from other campers as not to be too noisy.

If you want to chill this is the place to go.

We are going back in 2 weeks

Stayed in July for 11days. Pitch generous and flat. Amenity block kept clean. No problems obtaining shower tokens, for long hot showers. Helen always helpful and obliging. Food at pub on site was good if a trifle expensive as were the drinks but no problem as we didn't have to drive anywhere which was a plus. Yes you could hear the railway but not too obtrusive, certainly didn't disturb us and great in that it was within easy walking distance to get train to portsmouth and brighton. There was no road noise where we were pitched. Site is excellently located and in 11days we didn't visit all the places we wanted to see so we look forward to returning hopefully in next couple of years.

This was my second visit to this site, the first being in August 2011. I camp solo and in 2011 I paid £11. 00 a night inclusive of EHU and this year I paid £13. 00 a night. I feel that is a reasonable increase in two years.

The site itself is quiet, flat, and well drained although this year we had temperatures into the 30's with little breeze and because the site is mainly in full sun it would have been unbearable staying on the site during the day.

The pitches are nice, soft, mown grass and well maintained. A delight to pitch a tent on in this day and age.

I was a little disappointed with the drinks prices in the pub and was charged £3. 70 for a pint of orange and lemonade (a pint of bitter would have been £3. 50). For this reason, and the fact they don't seem to stay open normal pub hours, I didn't drink or eat there although the pub food prices looked typically reasonable.

The staff were extremely polite and helpful with no sign of the problems experienced by some previous reviewers.

On this occasion (I hadn't noticed it last time) the railway sounded particularly loud and annoying at night. Perhaps this was due to the lack of wind and other outside noises.

On this occasion also, the footpath along the river bank seemed neglected and overgrown with tall grasses, the type with seed heads that retain rain and moisture and would make it impossible to walk along in wet weather. I understood from a local that the council cut it a couple of times a year but this year was overdue.

It is true that the washing and toilet facilities are not the best in the world but they are totally adequate and clean with no lack of hot water, soap or toilet paper. This is after all, camping, and I remember the days when one had to dig a hole to make a latrine. Whilst I wouldn't particularly want to do that now I do feel that those who complain of inadequate facilities and insist on fur lined toilet seats and piped music of hotel standards are not only ruining camping but booting the costs up to hotel prices. Perhaps they should stick to hotels.

There is a code to get into the toilet facilities which others have complained about, but being next to a pub which is used by the general public I dread to think what state they would be in if all and sundry were allowed to use them.

I said in my last review in 2011 that I might make this a regular site since I only live just over an hours drive away. I would still like to do that providing the site owners aren't forced to put in fur lined toilet seats and piped music and the tariff remains reasonable.

Overall, a very nice quiet camping site with all the facilities campers need at a reasonable price, and within an hours walk of Arundel or Littlehampton. The railway station and bus stops are a few minutes walk away. I would highly recommend this site.

We booked to stay here to try out our new air tent. On arrival a gentleman checked us in and offered us any pitch. There was no explanation of rules. We chose Littlehampton as we have friends close by and this site allowed dogs.

We ate in the pub on the first night and the food was great. The staff were friendly and were very accommodating of our 10 year old daughter and our dog was allowed in.

We had our friend come to stay the second night and I went and paid for him to stay. Later in the evening his children dropped in to say hello. This upset the owner, who asked us to stay at the pub, due to noise and too many visitors. We were unaware of the rules.

We ate at the pub the second night as well and the food was great again. The manager - a Scottish lady - was fantastic.

There is a Tesco open 24 hours less than 10 mins drive away and a river walk for the dog.

Only negative was railway close by.

Will stay again

Have stayed at this site before and was happy to be back for a bank holiday weekend.

As usual the owner was warm and welcoming and showed us to our pitch. She does have a few rules which she goes through when you arrive but for for me it is a good thing, everyone knows what's expected.

The showers are old and dated but fairly clean. The showers need a token (50p for 10 mins), but you get taps so you have control over the flow and temperature, which is a good thing I think.

The on site pub is friendly and serves good food.

The walk from the site along the river takes about 45 mins and is lovely.

We will return for another weekend.

Be aware! The approach to reception involves a sharp 90 degree left turn round a tree. While you can see that tree in your L. H. Mirror, you can't see another big tree which you will hit with the rear end's swing-out if your van is over 7m long. Reception's comment was 'Yes, a lot of vans hit that tree if they're over 7m long' was not what I'd call helpful. Please put up a sign! - Problem solved.

Apart from that, the other comments re toilets etc are true, we were told that there were not enough shower tokens for us 4 to have 8 tokens at once. Consequently in the morning we had to wait for the shop to open at 9. 15 to buy more for the morning showering. Otherwise the site and pub is ideal. Lovely walking to Arundel or Littlehampton. Good sized pitches.

Stayed Monday - Thursday on the run up to the bank holiday weekend, very helpful lady warden sorted our pitch and then escorted us to it.

Pub not open Mondays, however we had a meal there on the Wednesday evening, food was ok although slightly overpriced.

We had a walk into Arundel on Tuesday via the riverbank, a very winding single track path took us about an hour.

The nearby A27 is rather noisy and if in a tent I would request not to be near it, with caravans and electric hook-up we had a pitch further back.

We didn't use the showers only the toilets, the blocks are kept very clean although very outdated decor.

We enjoyed our stay, friends joined us on the Tuesday and had no problem getting a pitch next to us.

On stayed 2 nights on a tour of the south coast. Site quite empty and those that came seemed to stay only a night or two like us, passing through. Showers very dated but piping hot and fantastic pressure. Very near main road but traffic. Noise not too bad. Pub prices shocking. Very irritating the shop was only open one or two hours a day and they were missing a trick really. Not the most hospitable but not rude either as previous reviews stated.

Great for access to Littlehampton

We have just got back from a rather soggy weekend at this site. We met up with a group of friends.

The site is lovely Plenty of space and the facilities are fine. The owner is a lovely lady who rules the site with a rod of iron LOL that's her way. There were no problems as far as our group are concerned.

The weather was appalling but that didn't dampen our enjoyment at all especially as we abandoned our BBQ idea and ate in the pub. What can I say? Excellent pub grub and enormous portions. The staff are terrific.

All together a good weekend.

Now the bad bit as far as I'm concerned.

Mossies I'm allergic to the little blighters. Take your anti-histamine before you go.

Visited this site on 2 separate occasions both for one night. The owner was very helpful and the toilets and showers very clean.

We had food in the pub both times which we can highly recommend - good quality and reasonably priced. Beer was good too. Staff very friendly too.

You can walk from the campsite along the tow path to Arundel which is about 3 miles.

Slept like a log. Will definitely return again and again
