Having purchased our first ever touring caravan we decided that our first trip should be close to home. We travelled to Hendre Mynach in Barmouth -just an hour away. When booking we had mentioned that this was our maiden voyage and that we were no spring chickens. On arrival the staff had remembered our telephone call and they were amazing. Directed us to our pitch, helped us reverse the caravan in. Before we realised what they were doing they had the legs down and had levelled the caravan. They showed us the hook up, water etc and it was not long before we had the kettle on. The site was very clean, excellent facilities, toilets and showers were very clean with plenty of hot water. The shop was well stocked and thankfully we even managed to get a corkscrew to open our celebratory wine. The freedom of us both being able to have a drink and not worry about driving or taxis. Lovely walk along the promenade into Barmouth and plenty of coffee shops. Other caravaners were very friendly and always ready for a chat. We had a lovely weekend and felt like we were hundreds of miles away, not just round the corner from home. Cant wait for the Jubilee Holiday to do it all again, this time further from home.

Visited here in April 2012. Nice quiet site 5 minutes from the town by taxi. £5 each way, but well worth the money when you see the hill you would need to get up if not taking the beach route.
You can stroll along the prom but due to me having only 1 leg this wasn't an option.
Site was very clean and toilets and showers were spot on.
Loads of dog walking space just off site over the railway.
The staff were great and showed us to our pitch and explained where everything was.
Would recommend this site and will return.

Not a bad little site, clean and tidy close to the beach you can walk to town and leave your motorhome. There is a very steep hill on the way in to the site, so your car may struggle to get back up if it is underpowered. You can walk to town along the sea front from the camp but it is quite a long walk going that way but it is all on the flat. Barmouth has go down since my last visit 10 years ago with three hotels and a few shops now closed

We went as a family of four, and found hendre mynach park to be really friendly, they even showed us to our pitch and as we had never been camping before they said should we need any help we only needed to ask, we found the facilities on site to be very clean and tidy. The location for the sandy beach was great, and it s a lovely walk into barmouth itself. We found that we had a lovely relaxing time, however barmouth didn't offer a lot for teenagers, so they were a little fed up towards the end of the day. Would like to see a bar on site for some evening entertainment. Overall the site is an excellent place to stay with a friendly atmosphere. Well worth another visit.

We stayed at this camp site for two nights while travelling through Wales. Very well kept site and pitches. Toilet blocks & showers tidy and quite clean. There is a railway line along the one boundary of the site but was not used much while we were there so not a noise problem really. Nice walk along the front (access via a path from the site} into Barmouth itself. Small over priced shop that seems to be the norm on this type of site.
The down side is the price - its £30 PER NIGHT !This was for our van, the two of us and hook up. When I questioned the owner about this (we have never paid this much for a site) he said he charges this all year for any time in the school holidays. The site is nice but we have stayed on much better for a lot less. Some what spoilt out stay with this obvious pricing policy to exploit families. In the current hard times surely camping is meant to be a cheaper option for the family unit ?
Over all nice site - no where near value for money.

Excellent site and well worth a visit.
First camping weekend of the year and a few families booked in together. Andrew and his team were all very helpful and given that there were not too many tents booked in, we had the pick of spots and were allowed to spread out a little.
Looks like there has been a bit of work done over the winter with new hook-ups across most of the camping areas, loads of water points and good vehicle access.
Barmouth is a 30 minute walk away along the sea front and past the beach which meant once we were unpacked, we didn’t need the car for the rest of the weekend. Bonus.
Loo’s and showers were all clean and with two separate blocks of showers we didn’t have any problems with queues. Loads of hot water and good pressure!
There were 15 kids in our group and they all had a great time. There is a play park on site and a skate park just over the railway line – it’s an unmanned crossing so not something the little ones should attempt on their own. Being near the train line didn’t bother us at all as the trains are either going into or coming out of Barmouth station, so they were not going very fast.
It’s marked up as no groups but we were quite honest when we booked (and again it was early in the season and nowhere near full, so not sure it would be OK all year) and there were 7 families who went together. We all had a great time and the site were very accommodating.

Lovely little site which we have stayed on many times over the years and thought it was about time we left a review!
Good points:
Some large hard standing pitches.
Well kept site generally, the toilets and shower blocks are always really clean.
Great location opposite a long sandy beach, walking distance via a flat promenade to Barmouth town centre, which is still fairly unspoilt and picturesque.
Helpful and friendly staff.
Well stocked little shop which also serves as a takeaway.
Bad points:
A number of fellow campers think that it is acceptable to let their kids loose and run riot unsupervised all day and most of the night. In my opinion there is an accident waiting to happen with kids whizzing around on bikes and scooters from the age of about 3 or 4.
Avoid pitches by the play park as we ended up having a miserable weeks stay due to the above. (Including footballs being bounced off our car and caravan, even though there are supposed to be no ball games!)
Be prepared for the very steep hill to go down into the site and up to get out of it. You must make sure your car is powerful enough to cope with this if towing.
All in all a good site, which we will no doubt return to in the new year.

Horrible place never again! we had hardly any sleep due to kids and adults shouting and singing after 12am and slamming gate to beach every 2mins, we even herd other campers shouting at them to shut up.
A big thumbs down

Dont follow the sat nav or you could end up like us trhe wrong side of the railway line only 50 yds from the site but 2 miles from the entrance.
Selected the site by reading reviews and using ratings. Disappointed somewhat. Toilet/showers in need to refurb and when busy not enough showers.
Great for access to beach but 30 min walk to Barmouth. Right next to railway line and although not many trains they can be annoying. Site also floods so if you in tent beware.
There is a little food take away on site but it was mainly closed. Found staff on reception not very helpful

Just returned from Hendre Mynach. We had really high winds from the tail-end of the hurricane Katria and the torrential rain that came with it. The tent (Hi-Gear Gobi 4) took it all in its stride. We had quite warm weather with it.
It's the second time we've been here and can't fault it. If you're looking for peace and quiet, then this is the place to go to. There were only 5 tenters, but the caravans and motorhomes were there in force.
The site itself is kept spotless by hard working staff. The toilets and showers are always immaculate. You are also only 100 metres from the beach. Barmouth is 3/4 of a mile walk along the promenade.
The shop is also a cafe.
I can recommend this site as I'm really hard to please. Just ask the wife!
