This really is a great camping site. We've stayed 3 or 4 times now in our tent, and we always feel a bit sad when our stay is over. The facilities are always clean and tidy, but because the campsite is so popular, sometimes you have to wait to use the facilities. Also, the sites popularity means you can't always get your favourite pitch, although there are plenty of other good spots. The playground is one of the best I've seen at a campsite, so it keeps the kids entertained. Also, the are plenty of hard paths around the campsite so it's easy for the kids to burn off some energy if you take a scooter or bike. The tent fields vary quite a lot so there is always a pitch available to suit all tastes. There is also a really good shop on site. They have a wide variety of everything you are likely to run out of, and I found the prices were very competitive too, beingy comparable with local shops in the town. The site is ideally located to be far enough away from Barmouth to be quiet, but close enough to walk to. Also beaches, mountain walks, chip shops, Portmerion, good restaurants are all easy to get to. There is always somewhere to go, somewhere to eat or something to do, come rain or shine. Prices are at the top end of what you pay when you go camping, but so too is the campsite so you get what you pay for. Although there are fairly strict rules, this is to set a standard and to be honest, as long as you abide by the rules, the operators are really relaxed. Overall a great experience and well worth a visit. Can't wait to go back again sometime.

As a regular visitor to Barmouth stayed at Hendre Mynach for the first time, & to put it simply this site was outstanding.

We arrived at 9pm on the Friday night (bank hol traffic) and reception was open and friendly when we booked in and throughout our stay.

Our pitch (as all pitches) was well maintained with ample room for van, awning, car and grassed area. The pitch was private with hedges to 3 sides.

Each pitch was fully serviced and this included a digital aerial point.

Onsite facilities were excellent and continuously cleaned to a high standard.

The site was full and yet never felt that way.

Off site you are across the road from the beach or a 20minute leisurely walk along the sea front to Barmouth.

The slope looked a little daunting when leaving the site but a little momentum and run at it proved easy to leave the site.

Overall an excellent site which we would recommend and will certainly be returning in the future.

We spent the late August Bank Holiday on this site, it was very busy (despite the dismal weather)

A very large site but well spaced out and in a good location as its at the end of the promenade, great if you take cycles and if not only a 20 minute walk into Barmouth

The site was kept very clean (the bins were emptied 6 times a day!)

2 x shower & toilet blocks were very clean & modern ! and there's a very well stocked shop and cafe on site and a good children's play area

We had a fully serviced hardstanding pitch which was great although quite expensive at £32 per night (it was a bank holiday)

Access to the site is via a very steep bank although every outfit did make it up the bank on the way out

Trains run through the site (2 hourly service in each direction) and blow their horns at the crossing half way through the site (first train 0540 ! wakey wakey! - last is about 10ish)

I would say this has to be about the best site if you want to visit this lovely part of Wales !

We paid for 2 nights but only stayed one night. Great for kids, but 2 new families came and pitched 2 very large tents and joining wind breaks and cars 4 foot from our little pop up tent, therefore noisy at night and slightly claustrophobic.

Also was a very long walk to the toilet block and showers as the campers field was at the end of the site.

There needs to be more control as to how much space one could use, perhaps even marking out the ground in some way or putting small tents on one side of the pitch.

However, the site is well placed for the lovely beach and town.

Finally got tent up surrounded by other tents, more space in my garden. Toilets clean but showers was not very warm. Shop didn't have much in, staff not very friendly.

Been to this site for many years in the past but has been taken over in the past 2 years not so good now.

Good spot for barmouth and the beach though.

This was a well laid out pleasant site very close to the beach and a 20 - 30 min stroll along the prom to the town (depending which end of the site you were camped in).

Staff were friendly on arrival and gave pointers as to which camping field would best suit our needs. The shop held a good range of essentials and even though we didn't use the takeaway, the menu appeared good value. There wasn't obvious opening times displayed.

The toilets and showers were kept clean and water was nice and warm. I'm not sure how it would be if the site was full as there weren't many showers.

Barmouth sadly felt a little run down and quiet with a distinct lack of comfy pubs to sit and drink in. There is plenty to do in the surrounding areas and the relentless rain certainly did not hold us back!

Just stayed one night, not long enough so will be back. Very pleased with the site, it does what it says with knobs on. Clean friendly super location. Loved it. Site well laid out, plenty of hot water in showers toilets and dishwashing area.

Site obviously well maintained flat pitches section off in areas for about 20 units each.

Short walk across railway line to prom and sea front, 15 min walk to Town centre. Out side camp it's a steep drive to main road there are bus stops in either direction. A very short drive to Town Centre good supermarket in the town.

There is a small Cafe for takeaways on site (didn't use so can't comment)and a small shop.

Great site very well kept with excellent toilets and very roomy hot and powerful showers with plenty of room to get undressed/dressed etc. Pitches for touring vans/motorhomes have hardstanding with their own water and EHU.

Entrance/driveway into site very steep but not really a problem. Site situated near to the promenade with a handy little footpath accross a train track to gain access to prom which takes you right into the centre of Barmouth.

Trains run about every 30 minutes but don't disturb with noise. Site has decent shop selling the basics with a takeaway cafe selling hot food.

This site will not disappoint you except maybe the price £25 a night in July 2011 but well worth it.

This was our first time camping and have no other sites to compare to this one, but we think this is a fair review.

We arrived at the reception to a very friendly welcome. I said that this was our first time and they explained everything to me so I could understand it in non-camping lingo. I explained that I am slightly disabled and they even offered to help me put up the tent. They took us to the pitch (A4) and told us how/where/what. Nothing could have more simple. They left us to it and we started pitching.

They had placed us close enough to the facilities for me to cope with. They offered to move us closer if I wanted but I said the location was great. You campers are such a friendly lot. We made friends with all the neighbours really fast.

The location of the camp is brilliant. Field - promenade - beach. That simple. It was only a 2 minute walk for us to the beach. They even said if I had problems walking it to just call them on the phone and they would send the golf buggy to pick me up. Such friendly people!

The site itself has no pub/club/bar so it was quite quiet at night. Just the kids playing and listening to the waves on the beach. The children all went back to their parents off the play area at 9pm.

The toilets and showers are the cleanest I have seen in any country. They were kept spotless. The free showers were hot whenever we used them and there was only a small queue in the ladies once only 1 morning. We were booked in for 2 nights, we extended it to 4 straight away. We have already booked to go back to this site in September for a week.

The shop on site has all the main things you should need if you have forgotten to buy, and it is also an off-license. The cafe is part of the shop and although we didn't use it, it seemed very clean and had a good selection.

The site is very dog-friendly and we will be taking her next time. A lot of dogs on site, but hardly any barking was heard.

All the serviced pitches also had their own water supply. No long walks with a heavy water bottle!

Would I recommend this site? Oh yes!
