This was the second visit to this site and on both occasions had a really good stay.
The facilities are great, the site feels very safe for children and there's a great play area.
The on site shop stocks basic items (the range seems to have reduced since last year, space taken over by on site cafe).
The staff are very welcoming and the shop even sold me a new airbed after closing time, otherwise it was a night on the grass.
The location of the site is great for the beach which is just a short walk away, Barmouth 20-30 mins walk down the prom.
We would definitely go back again.

What a great site, in a lovely seaside town. The entrance road is a little steep, but was really no problem and we were shown to a spacious pitch, nicely hedged off and with all services.
Having amended our booking a few days earlier we were told we couldn't have the original pitch we booked, however the one we were given was excellent.
The site has two good quality clean toilet blocks, a small shop and cafe and access over the railway line to the front. It is then a short walk into Barmouth, which is a traditional seaside resort, set in a lovely location at the mouth of an estuary.
There are a variety of pitches to suit all, many spacious hardstanding, plus several on grass so all needs are catered for.
We use 'club sits almost exclusively and were apprehensive about a commercial site, we needn't have worried however as Hendre Mynach is a first class site and we shall be returning again soon.

Just returned having spent 5 nights at the site
On arrival the staff were friendly and very helpful, we were shown to the area and had a choice of pitches to pick from, So settled for a grass pitch, which was great. The site although quite busy was very well kept, Ladies Toilet/Shower block were spotless and I was assured by hubbie that gents were as well,
The staff were constantly about maintaining the site all week.
Very well located for Barmouth and surrounding areas, Barmouth being a short walk along the beach, or promenade.
Both site and town Dog Friendly with a few pubs allowing Dogs in while we had a meal,
In Portmadoc, a short ride away, the Barman in the Royal Sportsman, actually served our Westie with a bowl of water before he got our drinks and excellent meal

We have stayed at this site for 5 nights, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, even lending us a hook-up lead as ours was too short, we were shown to a sheltered pitch which had a slight slope but not too bad once we moved the frame over a foot or two. On arrival the site was sparsely occupied bit this changed during the week.
Our only problems were a faulty mains hook-up point which kept tripping for no reason this was reported and rectified the same day. There were children on site who made good use of the play area which is really only suitable for under 10s, older kids may find it a little dull as there is no club on site, but all was quite by 10pm, pleased to report no noisy parties. The site is all connected for wi-fi and card are available from reception for this at a maximum cost of £20.00 per week, we gave it a go and although fine for browsing any streaming of i-player etc was not available due to bandwidth.
The site itself is well kept with a mixture of hard standing and all grass pitches, there are plenty of water, electricity and waste bins on site. The two large toilet/shower blocks are cleaned daily, although not heated so they did feel chilly at night, water temperature for the showers varied from day to day but was never uncomfortable. There are dish washing facilities, chemical disposal points and even a drive over drain for motorhomes. For those wishing a more basic experience there are plenty of non service pitches.
The on site shop doesn't really stock much other than bread, eggs, milk, kids toys etc as well as a small line of camping accessories, they are happy to order your daily paper but you must pay in advance for which a small charge is made.
Barmouth itself is a pleasant (subject to weather) 20 minute walk down the prom which is accessed from the site via a foot crossing over the rail track, trains are infrequent and seemed to be about six a day that went past, the town has the usual gift shops, a small fairground, 2 amusement arcades and plenty of cafes, a weekly market is held on Sunday and Thursdays and there is also an Iceland store and a Co-op supermarket
For those wanting a drink or a bite to eat there are plenty of nice pubs nearby and a couple were dog friendly as well.
All in all a very nice site with what seems to be a reasonable price structure.

We stayed at this site for Royal Wedding weekend, the site was very busy, but I could not be more impressed. The reception staff were polite and efficient, and I was shown to my pitch by two people who were very keen to unhook and position my caravan.
Our pitch was opposite the waste bins for our field, and throughout the weekend they were emptied every couple of hours or so, and the whole site was immaculate.
Situated right across from the end of the promenade and on a cycle route this is only a 15min slow walk along the beach into barmouth, which is essential as barmouth gets gridlocked on sunny weekends and bank hols!
The little shop and cafe was very good, although you had to wait quite a long time for your bacon butties to be cooked from fresh. A short walk or drive into Barmouth there is a spar, a co-op and every type of restaurant you could want.
Although situated near the train line, they only ran every couple of hours and honestly weren't a nuisance. The toilets and showers were very clean every time I used them, even over Bank hol weekend.
The entrance to the site is steep, but it was not a problem to anyone I saw entering or leaving the site, and no one had any difficulty with it.
My pitch had water and waste, was a good size and the only problem was the tv reception which was poor. However, reception kindly lent me a cable to connect to their tv connection on the pitch.
A well run, clean site with good facilities in a lovely location right next to the beach.

This campsite was excellent. First camping trip of the year for Easter weekend.
Location is brilliant. Across a train line and quiet road to the beach. There is a notice on the beach information board nearer the centre of Barmouth with the tide times which is useful to plan beach trips. It is only a short walk into Barmouth centre where there is a co-op, spar, gift shops and cafes.
The site itself is very well maintained. Bin areas and toilets are kept clean and checked regularly. Plenty of toilets in 2 blocks. Also 2 blocks of showers. There were only 4 showers in the one near us but we never has to wait.
Shop on site is good for forgotten essentials, groceries and kids toys. They also serve snacks. There is a kids play area which kept our kids (9 and 10) occupied and able to make new friends. Staff are all really friendly and helpful.
We booked electric hook up but they do have non electric pitches.
Can not comment on local attractions as stuck to the campsite, beach and Barmouth centre. We went for a chill out beach holiday and got exactly that. The centre can get busy but the campsite is a short walk away from that.
Will definitely be going again. Planning now for end of May bank holiday.

Having visited the site on numerous occasions over several years, I have to say over the last couple of years the site has slipped in terms of its management. Having said that the site is ideally situated for the beach (across a railway crossing)a short walk along the promenade in to Barmouth, lovely and charming in itself and well worth the visit. While you are there you have got to meet Mr. Bean what a character made my visit unforgettable, what a guy, seeing is believing

Friendliness, Helpfulness, Cleanliness.
All three at this very pleasant site. In a narrow strip of land between the Harlech Road and the railway, everything is done to make for an enjoyable stay. All the staff are friendly and helpful and keep the whole site in a beautiful and clean condition. Each caravan pitch has a good sized bay surrounded by shrubs. There are other fields for tents. There is easy access over the railway line to miles of sandy beach. Take a stroll along the promenade into the town of Barmouth. The location is ideal for cycling, both into town and also continuing on over the famous railway bridge on the old railway route to Dologellau. The Mawdach Estuary is spectacular. It is also ideal for exploring by canoe. Don’t forget to check the tides first! The surrounding mountains are awesome, ideal for the enthusiastic walker and explorer.

Steep descent on approach to site, but very flat pitches, all neat, grass short and clippings removed from all but quiet tent fields. Second season approaching for owners.
Toilet/shower blocks clean and spacious, water as hot as you want. 20 minute walk along promenade to Barmouth town centre which looks a little tired. TV signal poor but on electric hook up pitches there is an aerial outlet, bring your own lead or available to buy for £5 from reception. Well regulated, perhaps a little too many signs. Childrens play area.
Cambrian coast railway runs adjacent, trains infrequent and not a problem, but you will need to cross the line to get to the promenade. Enjoyed the site, not cheap, particularly in high season, but the site fills in summer so who can blame them? Will visit again.

Stayed here lots of times - Just called to book our trip here to find that the prices have increased to £32/unit for 2 people in peak period. Whilst we love visiting Barmouth I don't feel this site warrants the price increase - we stay on another site that charges a similar fee which has a swimming pool, gym, restaurant, bar etc. This site has none of those amenities so unfortunately, although we love the site I will have to find a new location.
