This was our first visit to Barmouth, and we fully enjoyed our stay at this site. The toilets and showers were always clean, the queue for the showers was a bit of a pain but were always hot, we found if you waited till 7pm there was no queue!!!!

The shop was well stocked with everything you coould possibly need and more. The girls loved the play area which was not too far from where we had pitched the tent. The beach wasnt far to walk to just over the train track which had gates to keep it safe for the kids. We would go back again as we had a fab holiday here.

Facilities at this site are very good with electric and water right next door to your pitch and the shower/toilet blocks clean and functional. The beach is only a 5 minute walk away and the town 20 minutes. The town itself is your typical tacky seaside job with amusement arcades etc.

Mid/North Wales has a wealth of natural attractions, so your never stuck for anything to do, just be prepared to travel a bit.

The downsides of this site are:-
It is between a railway line and a main road.
The first train comes through at about 6:40am and sounds it horn.
The main road is above the site and is also busy.
The site itself is very very busy with lots of children/teenagers

My family and I visited Hendre Mynach Caravan And Camping Park for a long weekend break in early August, after the initial concerns over driving for 140 miles with no reservation at the campsite, as it was on a first come basis, we were very pleased to find a wonderful campsite, with nice clean toilet & shower facilities which include free showers.

My wife felt that the distance to the toilet & shower facilities was quite a long walk if you camped in the bottom fields - I felt it was fine but then it was my wife who was running up and down to the toilets all day with the children. I am not convinced that the children really wanted the toilets but had just figured out that next to the toilet and shower facilities was the children’s playground!

The campsite is right next to a railway line although trains do not pass that regularly and to be honest we hardly noticed them. The track passes between the campsite and the beach which is lovely and sandy and has a wonderful promenade which runs all the way into Barmouth which is a very pleasant twenty minute walk from the campsite. Beautiful sunsets can be seen from the promenade.

Along with my family which includes 3 young boys of 2, 4 and 6, we had a brilliant time and would certainly recommend this site to anyone who wants to have good holiday.

We had tried a few times to book at Hendre Mynach but it was fully booked each time. We managed to get in July 23rd to 30th and I have to say it was the best holiday we have had. Our caravan was right next to a lovely park for the girls to play on and also next to the toilets and shower block which were always very clean. We never had to queue for either and the showers were free of charge.

There was also a Launderette, a shop which stocked everything we needed, and meals to eat in the garden at back of shop or take away. The site was kept beautiful and a warden on duty of a night. It was right next to the beach and great for the kids....... ours loved it. I have been to Barmouth for years but this is the best one yet and we are going back to Hendre Mynach.

Just returned from my first visit this must be one of the best sites in wales, the site and toilet blocks are kept in excellent cond the site i was given for my motorhome backed on to the railway but the odd train did'nt cause any disturbance, high flowering hedges on either side gave us excellent privacy.

My grandson who is in a wheelchair found the site flat and easy to move around, and any disabled person can easily acces the promenade and then its acar free stroll 20 minutes to barmouth town centre.
Cannot recomend this site enough the staff go out of their way to be helpful and if you fancy a pint there is free transport laid on every evening to the local pub .

Our first camping trip as a family. We chose Hendre Mynach because it was the first one we came to in Barmouth, but am I glad we chose it.we had a lovely time there. The site was spotless, the showers and toilets were really clean and after reading other reviews I can tell you that the showers are now free!

What a lovely peaceful place it was. The sunset is amazing with stunning views over the bay, I think anybody can put up with Thomas the Tank Engine going past site if it means having a lovely stay in a well presented and looked after campsite, thoroughly recommend staying here.

Site is reached by an 'interesting' drive down a steep hill.

When we booked in, our party were shown our pitches (pre-booked together, even though it was a battle!)

Bearing in mind 3 out of the 4 tents are extremely large, we had to pitch very close together to fit into the allocated pitches. It was friendly camping taken to the extreme!!
I shudder to think what would have happened if a fire had broken out.

Although the trains do run approx 10ft away from your tent, if you happen to have pitched on the sea side, the campsite is in an excellent position, and only 15-20 minutes walk into Barmouth along the promenade. Yes, you do have to cross the railway, but as trains only run approx 1 every hour, and sound their horn rather vigourously (first one at 6.30am!), you do get warning of their approach.

We were quite amused by the train timetable.

I would recommend the site, with a few minor niggles:- If you happen to be at the other end of the site, the toilet block is a hike.
On the camping field there is one road into the field, which if you have small children, means constant vigilance for cars, some of which do not stick to the speed limits.

We had a good time, apart from the weather!

We visited this site the week before the May Bank Holiday so it was fairly quiet and there was plenty of room to pitch our tent.
We found the site really good value for money with excellent facilities all round. The showers were clean and free to use, the toilets were clean and well supplied. The on-site shop was good but had a lack of newspapers unless you pre-booked them. The prices were a little on the expensive side but as it was so handy you can't complain. There is also a take-away where you can grab snacks during the day.
As mentioned in past reviews, the trains do sound their horns on the way past which can be a pain at 6AM but you get used to it. The crossing over the railway line doesn't seem to be in a dangerous position as it's quite far away from the playground and leads to a good beach with stunning views.
In all we had a lovely 4 days at Hendre Mynach and would definitely recommend it.

Theo and I had a wonderful time camping at Hendre Mynach. I was a little bit worried about going to the site nearest the town (thought it might be full of moaners) but I was most pleasantly surprised. I really like the idea that the camping fields are separated by hedges. It gave it a quiet intimate feel. I put my tent up in a corner of a wonderfully flat field: no rolling out of the tent - I can't stand slopes when camping!

The beach is clean and was, literally, 2 minutes walk from the tent. Theo really enjoyed the skateboard park. Ok he's 10 so I didn't worry too much about him getting squashed by a train - few that there are.

Barmouth was a really pleasant encounter. Very friendly, helpful and interesting. The beach, the lovely walk along the prom to the town, facilities and sunsets were: imagine contacting a place that makes you feel happy with life the universe and everything.

We'll definitely be back, hopefully for longer next time.

Having been to the Hendry Mynach a few times we were pleased to find it was still an excellent site, plenty of room for your pitch, nice play area for the children and a great shop for camping spares.
Nice people on site, great showers at twenty pence a time. Close to the great beach and Barmouth itself, railway line to cross but it is gated and with care is not a problem, there is though a steep hill to contend with on departure but help is on hand if needed. Free transport to Mynach Hotel and back to camp is provided, very nice warm atmosphere in hotel with nice friendly bar staff...excellent.
