Me and my two daughters (14 & 17) and our two dogs stayed here in August, the weather for the most part was glorious. I've never been to Barmouth before and thought it was lovely! The location of the site across the way from the beach was perfect. The site was very good - clean, tidy and quite pretty. We experienced no noise or disturbance whilst we were there. However, we stayed right at the top of the campsite, nearest to the showers, not near the beach. This area seemed more crowded and there were lots of young children - so not for us. I would definitely return and would recommend this site. I'd like to add, as three vegetarians, we found the choice of menu in local pubs and cafes was excellent, even 'The Harbour' chippy had a separate veggie menu - brilliant Barmouth!

This site is fantastic only a stones throw from the beach, where you can take the dog, excellent facilities all spotless. We camped in the field furthest away from the toilets and showers so it was a bit of a walk, but this was the only field with any space left. No noise from the campers at all only the train which does run very close to the site and starts about 6 in the morning and ends about 11 at night. Good park for the kids to play on open 9 till 8. Showers open early. Public bar with excellent beer garden overlooking the sea only about 10 mins away down the promenade. There is a small shop on site but doesn't stock a great deal but there is a Co-op in Barmouth town for all your shopping. The take-away on site is very limited and the staff not over friendly and would not even put some beans on a jacket potato for me so I had to buy a tin from the shop next door and warm them up back at the tent. There is a cafe just over the train tracks which does an excellent breakfast for 4.95 and you can sit outside with the dog if you have one. Lovely fish and chip shop in Barmouth called The Mermaid. Plenty of places to explore around Barmouth but we didn't use the the car for 2 days which was nice for my husband so he could have a few pints of Guinness down the pub. We paid £38 for 2 nights which sounds expensive for camping but it is worth it for the great time you will have there. Also the sun was out for 3 whole days.

This was our first time at Hendre Mynach, and first impressions were very positive. The site is nicely laid out and the touring caravan pitches are quite secluded, even when the site is busy.
The toilet and shower blocks really were immaculate. We used them at varying times during the day and they always looked like they'd just been cleaned. The extra space in the shower cubicles (some of which have a sink as well) was very welcome when showering the children.
The site is perfectly located right next to the fantastic Barmouth beach, which is just a short hop across the railway line.
Barmouth is a 15 minute walk away along the seafront, or 5 minutes by bike, and there are plenty of places to eat out with the children, with 'The Barmouth' being particularly good value for money.
The children were kept amused for hours with crabbing trips around Barmouth Harbour, and when they were on the site they had a small play area to keep them amused.
The site is 30 minutes drive from Coed-y-Brenin trail centre, so it's great for mountain bikers with families.
The Mawddach Trail along the estuary was a great cycle ride with the kids, especially as the pub after about 8 miles made a great place to stop and recover, assisted by good food and good local beers.
Initially the play area was open until 9pm, but this was changed to 8pm shortly after we arrived for some unknown reason. Maybe someone complained that the kids were too noisy, but then this is very much a family site so it's to be pretty much expected.
The staff onsite were initially helpful, but a small minority were very quick to apply some quite draconian rules, especially to the quite well behaved children we saw on the site, which detracted somewhat from our holiday.
Overall, a very nice site with immaculate facilities, but the overzealous interpretation of the rules by some of the staff means that we will probably try somewhere else next year.

Chose this barmouth site as it was near the beach, it was our first camping trip chose it for the great location, we didn't need to use our car as it was right next to the beach and a nice walk into Barmouth town centre walking along the promenade.
The showers & toilets were clean and quite modern, the whole camp is clean really it was really busy when we went but didn't feel like sardines packed in which I liked.
They let us chose our pitch, there is a choice of fields, we stayed in the larger one near the beach entrance it seemed to have a lot of families on this one, there is also a quieter field with a lovely view of the sea which I think would suit people who want some peace.
It had a nice children's play area and a little cafe and a small shop the staff seemed friendly.
On our field children were flying kites and playing ball it was good fun, nice families and will probably go back as the area is so beautiful and there is loads to do !

We have visited this site several times from my children being very young to now being teenagers and cant fault it. The facilities are excellent they have separate ladies and gents showers with hair dryers to use. In the toilet blocks there are some separate wash cubicles all these facilities are always very clean and well maintained .
There is a play park for young children with half a dozen different things to play on a very well stocked shop a take out a laundrette and a phone box. Dogs are welcome on leads with strict poop scooping which everyone seemed to comply with. The pitch sites are well spread out and with the electric hook up you also get your own water tap the pitches are flat and well maintained .
The beach is 2 mins walk and is very clean sandy and safe ,Barmouth is a pleasant flat 15 mins walk down the prom and has everything , varied shops, pubs, cafes a small market funfair and harbour . I cant find anything bad to say about the site or the surrounding area only to mention there is a rail line to cross to get to the beach which has very few trains use it and is very safe to cross with with a proper crossing point and there is a steep driveway into the site but the owners are there to assist anyone who may have any difficulties though I have never seen anyone have a problem . I would definitely recommend this site .

Just returned from one night at this site. Was seeing someone off on the Three Peaks Yacht Race and decided to make a weekend of it. The owners / staff were all lovely and even reduced the cost as it was only myself and 6 year old daughter. The toilets and showers were spotless, the site was really clean and tidy but very relaxed. We camped in the quieter area up the hill a friend had already pitched up there or I might have stayed down at the bottom. We could see the sea and watched the Yachts in the race sail off in to the evening. Good little shop and playground, great cycle into Barmouth, fish and chips on the sea front. Fantastic couldn't ask for a better weekend ! Oh except the weather of course we just managed to get the tents down before it rained.

The site is perfectly located, close to the beach and close to the local town (both are within walking distance). The local town has plenty for everybody, including shops, bars, cafes, amusement arcades and a small fairground for young children.
The toilet/shower blocks are clean and well maintained.
We have stayed on this site 4 times now and absolutley love it.

Superb site, very big but well looked after. Toilets and showers etc are clean and tidy and there are plenty of them. Easy walk to beach (but beware of trains as you have to cross the tracks). Walk along the prom to Barmouth or £4 for taxi. Pitches are good size and level, most have their own water tap, electric and I think there was piped TV signal. Beware on leaving to take hill in 1st gear and down change until you get to the top. There is also a shop and snack food / breakfasts on site. We will be back sometime.

We use this site every year and love it !
We have camped a few times this year already and we also camped at the end of Sept, we drove from work on Friday evening and arrived in the dark - they kept the office open and took us to our pitch when we arrived.
In the 7 years we have been using this site the facilities have always been impeccable - the location is brilliant ideal for anyone wanting to ditch the car.
The Beach is really clean and safe also a very small walk with all your buckets and spades !

Site was very clean, owners drive round often to keep check of everything, toilets and showers are spotless and free to use. On site is a small takeaway that do hot breakfasts and teas, shop sells just about everything including beers and wines. Small safe playground for children under 12. 3 min walk to beach and 20 min gentle walk into Barmouth itself where there is plenty of things to amuse the kids. Nearby you can visit Shell Island and local slate caverns. The only criticism about site is the entry on and off the site which is rather steep, although if you are towing a caravan I'm told the owners are only too happy to help out. We will certainly be going again.
