July 2003 We have been to this site for the past three years and cannot understand the bad comments, the site is well run, the owners are very friendly and helpful, never a problem, if you want help you just ask and it will be given.
The site is very central, good beach within 2 minutes, across railway line but this causes no problems.
Walk along sea front to Barmouth Town.
In the evenings if you want to go off site for a drink you can without the worry of driving, a minibus takes you and collects you from site to an excellent pub.
If you want to explore you are within easy distance of Snowdonia and Cadre Idress.
And finally you will find very good and friendly company with other campers on this site.

28/7/03 I found the camps pitching area clean and tidy even with the heavy rain for 3 days it didnt get to muddy underfoot. The Toilet blocks where kept clean but when u needed them urgently they were closed 4 cleaning which meant another hike to the other side 2 use the other block. If you get a pitch at the end of the site beware of those long walks 2 get there as i would not let my kids or wife walk alone i was always getting up to take them, as the site is open to the promenade.
The park security seemed useless he was only there 2 stop the late night chatting and warn you about getting evicted if it carrys on. Which to me with kids can be hard to stop at times especially if they are woken by snoring. The site does get full of moaners who think tents should be made of bricks and mortar to keep it quiet, so be warned if you have kids.
The showers cost 20p for a few measley mins to have a decent shower i used 60p as you have no control over the flow or temperature. The showers are shut at 10pm so no late night showers be 4 bed or if u cant sleep, and are often closed for cleaning when you want them. The cleaning areas for your pots and pans is inadequate 3 sinks for each block which have the push down taps so be prepared to get soaked by the people right next to you and also the queue when you get there, also watch out if you turn round to quick as the porta loo waste hole is not far behind you.
The site has a small shop which often runs out of stuff if u want a paper get up at the crack of dawn and get your washing powder when you go out, theres a tiny cafe in the shop cannot fault the breakfasts but you couldnt swing a cat in there so no good 4 large familys at all, seats 12 in a 10 X 10 box.
The beach is wonderful a stones throw from the site across the railway tracks, theres 2 points of access with gates that either dont lock or are easily opened by young children which i find unnaceptable as 1 of the crossings is right by the play area. As the trains go by they sometimes blow there horn but they always do at 6.30am but if you like an early start it saves setting your alarm clock. There was nothing for the kids to do on site unless their under 12 to play in the small play area which was always overcrowded.
The nightime you either walk into town for the pub and to eat or theres a mini bus that will pick you up and drop you off by the owners of the hotel everynight free of charge and its a blessing when you look up the very long and steep hill you've got to go up. The hotel pub i found was very welcoming and friendly to, all the food was great and there was always entertainment on and it also has a very large play area for any age.
The site needs more toilets closer to where your camped and the level crossing gates need to be sorted out we will not go back there again

Easter 2003 Have used this site a number of times. However last time (during school hols) they had no pitches left and despite the signs saying 'don't worry about the hill, we have the machinery to pull you up it if necessary' we were unable to get any help in pulling our rather heavy elderly Bessecar caravan back up the extremely steep hill onto the main road. Eventually a guy in a passing 4x4 stopped and used his tow rope to help us up. So I would say, a lovely site in a good spot, but be wary about taking a heavy van down there if you haven't booked - if you don't spend the money they don't help you!

june 2003 Lovely hardstanding pitchs hedged off so you feel quite private. Toilets and shower facilities excellent a bit annoying when you need to go and the're being cleaned so you cant get in. Shop really convinient and sells everything imagineable for caravans and tents. Did'nt find the trains at all annoying only about one an hour and they go so slow as there almost at the station. Don't worry about the hill the management will do anything to help including pull you up it if your a bit wary. Excellent site!

23-29/06/2003 A wonderful site set on the coast half a mile north of Barmouth. It takes all types of unit and has hook up for tents as well as caravans etc. The pitches are of varying sizes. Dogs are allowed (one camper had even bought a cat), and designated areas of the clean beach, allow dogs. The promonande and beach are reached by crossing the rail track that runs parallel to the site. Trains do not run at night and roughly one per hour during the day. The showers, which we found a mite hot for children, cost 20p. There is a parent and child room but no disabled facilities, something the owner is to rectify in the near future. A laundry, chemical disposal point and a large play area are also on on site, (the play area is open from 9am-9pm), along with a shop and a take away. Barmouth itself is a 15-20 minute walk along the level promonade. There you will find a co-op, spar and a small Iceland We always say that whether or not we would return to a site is whether or not we would recommend it. The answer in this case is an emphatic yes.
