My wife and two dogs stayed at The Cud Life for two nights. The site and facilities was clean and first class. Tanya made you feel very welcome from the time you made your booking to the time we left.
The site is in a great position to be able to get into Harrogate either by on foot or bus. It was a shame the weather was not to good on Saturday evening as wood was supplied to have a good old camp fire. There is a very high quality cafe on site. The showers toilets and washing facilities were very clean and plenty of hot water.
I would recommend this site to all and will definitely return.

First time camping! Have to admit, I was a bit nervous, going camping for the first time in my 40s. But The Cud Life was a perfect introduction. The owner, Tanya, was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the site was small enough to feel intimate whilst still having enough people around for my 8-year-old son to make friends. There are 16 pitches on site, but Tanya says she never fills it to capacity. 14 were taken when we were there (late May bank holiday)which I think is as busy as it gets. There were no real facilities for children, but they were happy playing ball or whatever.
Obviously, being camping virgins, I can't make comparisons, but the amenity block was clean and warm. It was unisex, which didn't bother me at all in such a family-orientated place. The two showers were free and quite spacious, with heated towel rails. There's a fire pit in the middle of the site, which can be lit on Saturday nights (wood provided). It was nice to sit around this chatting with other campers. The on site café and cookshop are only open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday - which is perhaps a blessing in disguise, as I'd have come home three stone heavier if they'd been open more. Whilst we were there, Tanya did open the shop for an hour or so each morning to sell sausages, bacon, milk and bread, but I don't think this is a regular thing. Harrogate is a few minutes drive (or bus) away. The EHU worked fine, and there was an excellent 4G signal on my phone(EE).
So all in all, a great first experience. We'll be back.

Amazing site, amazing owners. This site was recommended to us by friends who had visited it. The owners went out of their way to be helpful. The fire pit which we were able to light on the Sunday evening made for a very special evening with fellow campers. The toilet block was spotless with heated towel rails in the separate cubicles and lovely hot water.
If you stay on a Thursday through till Sunday the coffee shop and cooking shop are both open (the scones with cream and jam are delicious) whilst the shop sells a huge variety of kitchen products.
The buses came in very useful especially as we had bus passes and they stop at the end of the lane. We didn't use our van at all whilst we were on site.
The views from the 'camping' field are glorious and as we had clear skies each night the moon, stars and satellites were also spectacular.
We will be back. Thank you Tanya and David.

We can only agree with the positive comments made previously about this site. The truth of the matter is you feel rather like keeping it quiet about this place, but never the less we feel duty bound to sing it’s praises in every way.
Immaculate, friendly, spotless, well maintained, fantastic location, informative, quiet, the list goes on and on.
Harrogate is a fabulous place with so much to see. The bus comes past the end of the track (solid) and is only a few stops into town for those wishing to sample its watering holes or just save the hassle of driving in traffic. As others have mentioned The Three Horse Shoes in the village is also very close by and welcoming, we did not eat on this occasion so cannot comment on the food.
The Cook shop and café are great, with ‘gift voucher wooden spoons’ to treat others to the delights of this special place.
There are a few site rules, but we found them very fair and for the benefit of us lucky temporary residents.
Best you can get, great fun, great people, great place, great vibe.
Looking forward to returning. Thank you

We found this site to be perfect for us. The toilets and showers are some of the best we have seen on any site, a large fridge freezer provided next to the pot washing area, a safe area for BBQ's and fires and fantastic views of the area. Lovely cafe and quality cookshop, we will definitely be back.

In summary great location lots to do, lovely helpful owners
BUT Unisex toilets and showers (only 2 of each ) would not suit everyone.
Lovely helpful owners, nice new clean facilities. Grass pitches which would prove a problem if wet. We found the grass quite long and wet which was a minor irritation.
The electric hook ups were fine.
The surrounding area is superb for walking as is the site location, lots to see and do.
The only negative for us was the unisex shower and toilet block with only 2 showers and 2 toilets.
Luckily we were the only people on the site for most of the week but if it was busy we could see problems.

We love The Cud Life, it is just as the lovely owners describe it - like camping used to be! In a brilliant location with very friendly owners and other guests. We just came on ukcampsites to rebook for this year and saw the last review about the unisex toilets. Yes there IS a unisex toilet block BUT it is immaculately clean, has two large toilet units, a retro radio so you don't have to listen to anyone else or so that you can sing in one of the fantastic (better than ours at home) showers each with their own private changing area. We are just two oldies in a motorhome and we love them but imagine a family would find them excellent as they can all go in together, reducing waiting times which I presume is what the owners were trying to achieve. We HAVE been to the cud life when the site is busy in the summer and we can confirm there are ample facilities for the little site as they don’t overcrowd it. Oh and they have heated towel rails, another luxury we don't have at home and THIS IS CAMPING! Highly recommend the cud life and the on site shop and coffeeshop are excellent.

Have just returned from a short break on this site and would echo previous positive comments. I feel that the welcoming owners have done very well to develop a clean well run site with sensible rules which don't detract from an old fashioned camping experience. We went to an adults only site in the summer but found it rather souless with most campers shut away in their caravans with the tv by 9pm despite the warm weather. Conversely the well spaced arrangement at The Cud Life allows plenty of room and the clear centre with campfire feels inclusive and encourages conversation.
Approach road is very busy and undulating but site is down a long drive so noise not a problem but main road only suitable for experienced cyclists. Pubs in Killinghall served good food and easy walking distance. Knaresborough well worth a visit.

Super clean site.
Super clean facilities.
Superb proprietors.
I can't add anything to the previous reviews.
So here comes the waffle.
Can recommend the Three Horseshoes Pub, superb food we had the salmon, and gammon steak.
Its a very pleasant drive across the Dales/Moors to Bolton Abbey, the heritage railway is not a lot to shout about, but a pleasantway to kill an hour.

Its hard to build on the praise given to this small, friendly and very welcoming site. Stayed here for the bank holiday weekend and had a great time. Lovely views from the tent, just a five or so minute drive into Harrogate and some great attractions and pubs very nearby (Enjoyed the bank holiday scarecrow festival in Ripley - pretty village, Brimham Rocks and had a great lunch at The Malt Shovel - www. Themaltshovelbrearton. Co. Uk).
Lots of great touches make this place special, we'll certainly be back.
