Just returned from a weekend at Hopleys, first impression was a clean, well laid out site. Pleasant owners who were very helpful. We stayed on the Camping field with EHU and pitches were relatively level and of a decent size. The site has plenty to do for young children and I can highly recommend the Cafe which does a large breakfast for £4. 80 and was very enjoyable. Now for the negatives, Although they state a 'No noise after 11pm' policy this was not enforced ! Our neighbours thought it was quite acceptable to play a Lee Evans DVD, rather loudly, until 1am in the morning ! There was also a lot of noise coming from various other groups until 2 am ! I did inform the site owner about this and it was a bit quieter on the following night. In conclusion, it is a nice site but unfortunately attracts large groups and this unfortunately leads to noise problems. This is echoed by my many friends who have previously visited this site. So if you want a quiet weekend break, then this is possibly not the site for you ! Would we return ? not sure got mixed feelings.

Our first time away in a caravan and couldn't of picked a better campsite for our trial run. Really good facilities shop, cafe both excellent and the toilet and shower block was in pristine condition with good temperature for the showers. I was a bit worried about getting in and out the site with towing for the first time but the entrance was very wide and no problem at all.

To be honest, we booked this site after our first choice campsite (one we had visited before) was full.
By the time we left after two nights we were so happy that it was!
It just seemed to tick all the right boxes for us.
Excellent shop, good pitches, easy access, decent main shower block (I didn't visit any of the others), 1st class traditional pizzeria, (Wine & beer sold also), Live entertainment on our visit.
What I realy liked is that there is no minimum stay and if you wish you can even have log fire outside your pitch (logs available from the shop). The staff seemed nice and it was very reasonably priced.
It's kind of how camping used to be.
My youngest daughter would have liked a little more to do in the children's park but my eldest daughter was quite happy playing on the rope swing near the little stream with the older children.
Location wise, it's about 1. 5 miles from Bewdley and 4. 0 miles from Stourport on Severn
We shall be returning shortly !

Stayed here as we wanted to visit Bewdley. Pitched in the top field next to the modern toilet block, as previous comment did find the push button showers annoying but otherwise thought the toilets/showers to be of a reasonable standard. Reception friendly and informative and very quiet at night only heard the Tawny Owl however we were here mid-week out of school holidays and I would expect this site to be very busy at other times. The next door farm shop is more of a mini supermarket really even selling booze and opens till 6pm. Easy walk down into Bewdley but the walk back is not for the faint hearted so we caught the last 2L bus back(1835) which will drop you off at the site entrance, buses will also pick up from here too going afar as Stourbridge or the other way to Ludlow. Have to agree with previous post regarding the best pub being the Mug House Inn with their five real ales and right by the river Severn. Paid a very reasonable £14. 50/night with ehu.

Just stayed here for two nights over the last weekend and would comment as follows:-
Plus points:- great location with Bewdley only a 20 minute walk away, toilets and showers clean and tidy, site also kept clean and tidy, noise levels monitored and everything stops at 11pm.
Minus points:- Pitch space is very limited we were on pitch 12 and with a caravan on 13 complete with awning you are virtually living on top of one another with no space for their vehicle apart from in front of our van, on arrival we are told there is a wedding reception on the Saturday night surely this should be pointed out when booking, people on pitch 9 who appear to be seasonal have no regard for fire safety starting their chiminea by squirting it with petrol or some kind of lighter fuel sending flames 12 foot into the air and engulfing the complete chiminea in flames, and finally the fishing lake needs a great deal of attention one side is in accessible due to mud, the vegetation needs cutting back and the rubbish bin needs emptying more regularly (I decided not to fish in the finish)
It's a shame but I don't think we will be returning.

We stayed here for 2 nights during the Bank Holiday weekend, probably not one of many campsites that offer a 2 night Bank Holiday stay. Upon arrival we were told we could camp anywhere in the paddock. There are some slopes but we managed to get on a fairly flat bit of land even though it was really busy when we got there. Firstly the good points: price, Bewdley is only a 2 minute drive and is lovely (lots of riverside cafes and bars), the marquee sells amazing pizzas (about £6 and they are quite big), beers and had a great singer on. Now for the bad points, there don't seem to be enough showers & pot wash facilities to cope when the campsite is full, there are 3 shower blocks but they only have between 2-3 showers in each and the ones located in the field are really small. The cleanliness of the toilets/showers were also a bit of an issue but not sure if that's due to inconsiderate campers, however the toilets in the field had no handwash or paper towels for the 2 days we were there. The play area consists of 2 swings and a small climbing frame which could not cope with the amount of kids that were there. All in all it was OK but probably wouldn't return.

Stayed 5 nights in a tent in 'The Paddock', basically a large field where we could set up anywhere. On a bit of a slope but not too much of a problem. Toilet facilities ok, temporary cabin but kept clean. Shower block by reception lovely, only 2 showers but we didn't have to wait. Would definitely recommend having a pizza if you are there when the van is open, really nice and great value. Loads of space for the kids to run round, but the fishing lake was quite neglected and full of rubbish. Bewdley itself is a 20 minute walk away (quite steep), it is a nice village, nice views across the river. If you like nice food, go to the Hop Pole Inn down the road, fantastic food there.

Im brand new to caravanning and this was my first trip. When you pull on the site do not drive to main reception like I did you will have to reverse back (ha ha) park on the carpark and walk down. On arrival our pitch was taken, which was annoying due to me and my sister had booked pitches next to each other. This wasn't the fault of hopleys it was due to another camper who had overstayed and conveniently went out on the morning. Hopleys were really helpful and put us right on the playground field for the kids, which the kids were happy about and my sister was only a stones throw away. They even deducted the price for my awning, dog and extra child. The playground is very small with 2 swings a climbing frame and 2 parallel bars which can get quite busy. There was 2 toilet/shower blocks the top one was a bit run down but the bottom block looked brand new which I solely used. There was only 2 showers and 2 toilets but everytime I went they were free, but I tended to have a shower late morning so cant really comment about how busy they were first thing. It is very quiet and they have a strict no noise policy after 11pm, which everybody adhered to which was brilliant. There is a shop and café which are brilliant and a pizza take away. The pizza takeaway was only open on Wednesdays though. All in all had a brilliant 1st trip away in our caravan and will return to hopleys

Just returned from anther fab trip to Hopley's over the bank holiday. We were pretty close to the unit (caravan) next door so it was a good job that we did not put our van at the boundary of our pitch or they would not have been able to put up their awning next to us. It seems to be only the one pitch at the end of the hard standing that is small and shunts the others along.
As usual, staff at Hopley's are really friendly, nothing too much trouble and quite happy to have a drink and a chat with you. We like that fact and that they know us now and are always so friendly.
The kids have lots of fun playing with the old tractor down by the pond and fishing for tadpoles as well as tree climbing and sliding down banks. Proper outdoors stuff for small people.
Bewdley is a 20 minute walk away down Wyre Hill which is steep on the way back up but has a nice pub half way up with a beer garden and friendly staff (The Black Dog). In Bewdley I highly recommend the museum and gardens. Perfect fun for kids and adults alike and all free. Our children always ask to go.
Great farm shop again - lovely local produce, meats and fresh bread, eggs, milk. Everything you need and want at reasonable prices.
We don't use the café so can't comment there but always seems popular. Showers good as usual. I always use the ones behind the café and not the main block as much quieter as a rule.
We will be back this season without a doubt.

Management response: Thanks for the kind comments regarding the facilities on site. However we do not allow children to slide down the bank and this is pointed out in several notices on site. If parents are happy for their children to climb trees then they do take responsibility for any injuries sustained. |

Stayed here over bank holiday weekend and had a lovely time.
The site is in two levels with caravans being in the upper. It has a very relaxed feel about the place and lovely views. It has a cafe and farm shop on site. We had breakfast in the cafe which was very good and reasonable. The farm shop is excellent! Everything you could possibly want!
It had the marquee selling pizzas of an evening, and entertainment till around 9pm. There is a small park for the children to play.
It's about a mile into Bewdley which we walked, took about half hour. I would highly recommend The Mug House for somewhere to eat by the Severn.
My only negative is the showers, there are simply not enough for a full site. There are 2 in the main block and a further 2 by the cafe. The showers are the push button type, which is fine, but you have to press the button about every 10 seconds!
We will definitely return in the future!
|
Management response: We have noted the comments regarding the showers and are in the process of addressing that by having a new shower cabin with 4 extra showers and a second cabin with 4 extra toilets. We will also ask the plumber to alter the length of time on the push button showers to make them more user friendly. |
