A lovely site very clean and tidy and helpful pleasant staff, clean modern toilet block with piped music, lots of hot water little too hot in the shower so be careful, good washing area for dishes and clothes with very large freezer to use, there is lots of play area's for kids outside, a large play barn in the daytime, and another large play area for kids in the site pub, maybe a little more adults only area for when we don't have the children/grandchildren with us, which made us leave the site to seek somewhere else, local pub was closed so the Bear's paw in Frodsham was great with a band playing.

Craft and antique shops need an exterior update but very interesting and different to look round.

Cheshire oaks not too far to go for a good shop,

For country loving people there are great views for this site and, Delamere forest is very close

All in all very pleasant site

4/8/13. 1st timers to Lady Heyes. Very disappointed. Tents; far to close together, guide ropes almost touching next tent, EHU next to road instead of behind tents leading to cables becoming trip hazards, only two water points for 40 tents and these were behind 2 tents; where's the privacy in that? Shower block good apart from, Gents; no shaver points, insufficient hooks / shelves in cubicles, Ladies; no where to put things down when drying hair, Both; shower heads so far in corner that you have to lean against the wall to get wet! When will we catch up with continental shower facilities? They have one block that both sexes use, thus saving time and water. Surely us Brits by now, cannot still be so shy???? Wash up area; no hot water despite warning signs warning of hot water! Recycling of Waste; no visible signs requesting separation. All waste was put into domestic size black bins. Elsan Waste; not our problem being in a tent, however, watching a queue of 6 caravaners awaiting their turn to empty their poo pots adjacent to the kids play area. Too much information! Kids Playground; basically wood, grass and sand! On a positive note, the site manager and the lads in the bar were pleasant and helpful and The Travellers Rest ( 1/2 mile towards Frodsham serves excellent food).

We love it here at Lady heyes. 1 field is circular +for caravans + through a gap in the field is the tents. This is a long flat field with great views of Cheshire. We pay £17 a night. The welcome from the reception lasts the entire time your there + they are very very helpful. The toilet/shower block is fantastic + always clean. There is a gigantic wooden fort for the kids to play in, with a sand pit in the middle (no swings etc). There is a type of shop opposite the reception, I order my newspapers there the day before + collect when they open at 10am, they also sell milk/cans of pop/icecreams. This shop doubles up as a soft play centre + pub. The whole of the campsite is based within a 'craft centre'-this consists of 20+ shops from book shops, gifts, haberdashery, sweets, antiques (lots of these shops), brewery, but the best shop is the fab candle shop-owned by Bob Carolges from Spit the Dog fame.

I have just spent the most fantastic 5 nights at Lady Heyes, the site was spotless, grass well kept and the toilet facilities second to none. Yes in the distance there were planes but if you've done your homework you will know that it is in the middle of Manchester and Liverpool airport so what do you expect? The planes were in the distance and we all enjoyed watching them during the afternoon, they didn't spoil our enjoyment. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much for them. There is a club on site which sells food and drink and also little outlet shops where the owners were really friendly and let me take my dog in with me. Outside the toilets there is a metal loop for tying up dogs which is ideal for solo campers, there is also a dog field which is invaluable. Locally, Frodsham has good shops and a streetmarket on Thursday, also takeaways and a Morrisons and Chester and its lovely zoo are just a short journey away. Delamere forrest is just 4 miles away with its new kids adventure zone, woodland walks and a lake and cafe, all in all a great place to stay

Lady Heyes is a lovely site and we have been coming here for three years now. Its local to where we live for a quick weekend away, as its a family site its ideal for taking our grandchildren away for a few days. It has a play area in the shape of a very large fort with a large sand pit. They really could do with some slides coming down off the towers or something similar, there appears to be the room and it would keep the children better amused.

Unfortunately overall the site is becoming a little jaded. There was a lot of litter around this visit, previous visits there was no sign of litter and it is early in the school summer holidays. The gents toilet block door was not working on the lock so it was open all of the time. The toilet blocks weren't as clean as they usually are. The ladies mirrors were dirty on our first day and the same marks and dirt was there four days later. The adults were letting their children use the toilets on their own, due to the heat the children were playing barefoot in the sand and going into the blocks to wash their feet in the sinks, imagine the state they were left in. They were also playing in the toilet blocks.

The caravans have good pitch areas in the main, however the tent field is very cramped when full. We spoke to quite a few visitors to the tent field and they were feeling claustraphobic.

I won't take away from this site, but the owners need to be aware things are slipping and to maintain their high reputation they need to catch it before it falls too far.

The manager is good at what he does, helpful and pleasant.

We have visited this site quite a few times, however I have to say that the standards have dropped quite considerably. We used to give this site 10/10 but would now have to say more like 5 or 6/10. On this visit we found that the card system seemed to be deactivated on the toilet block and it showed, the sinks were regularly blocked with unknown mess and the toilet cubicles were on a few occasions dirty and unpleasant mess actually on the seats and the floor. I do agree that this is more down to the customers rather than staff as people should have more self respect than to leave this behind them. My daughter aged 9 also went to the play area one morning and returned quickly to show me a picture of it containing broken beer bottles, cans and cigarette packets.

A real shame as this site was so good 12 months ago.

Excellent site who know exactly what good camping is about. toilet and shower block is the best I have seen and both caravan and tent areas are well serviced. I would definitely recommend this site to family and friends as it is ideal for families / couples/ singles with all you need for a relaxing tranquil weekend or week. Plenty of bars/ restaurants down in Frodshem Town and lovely marked walks within the area. Nice little play area for kids with plenty of space between units, My thanks to the owner and staff.

I've visited Lady Heyes three times in 2013 (February, May and June). The toilet and shower block is the best I have seen to date. The on line booking arrangement is very efficient and allows you to choose your pitch. This is very useful for return visits when you are familiar with the site layout. There are a number of interesting shops on the same site that give you something to do without venturing far. There are a variety of circular walks that can be made from the camp site on established footpaths. Frodsham is approximately a 30 minute walk away (allow 35 minutes for the return journey in view of the gradient / effect of pub visits). Frodsham has several pubs, a Morrisions next to the rail station and free parking so all essentials catered for. As a rule I don't use the car once I get to a camp site so I view the surroundings in terms of walking distance. I've been to the site three times this year and will be returning in September and I'm still finding things to do and see.

You can opt to pay an additional £5. 00 for a late departure (subject to availability) which allows you to leave the site by 4. 30pm rather than 12 noon. I have used this option twice as it makes departure day much less rushed. This possibly explains the £5 shortfall experienced by another reviewer as you collect your £10 deposit for the site's swipe card on departure ?

We stayed here for 2 nights, on arrival we found site to be clean n tidy, but on going to the toilets my husband found the gents to be full of sand all over floor n in the sinks, this was early afternoon on returning to toilets later floor had been swept n sinks had been attempted to be emptied of sand, this is due to play area being in front of toilet/shower block, maybe less work for owners if sand was removed from play area has not all children will keep the sand to wer it should be.

On saying the above, we have booked to return for the October half term, to give it another try has we realise it is not the owners fault sand was taken into facilities.

The staff were friendly and helpful, we went to the horseshoe pub has advertised by the site on sheet given on arrival, which we found to be welcoming and the food was very nice.

Will put another review after next visit.

I'm afraid I have to go against the majority here and agree with a previous review from April this year, as I too disliked this site intensely.

The camping field is sloping and the pitches, down each side of a central gravel roadway, are very uneven, also they aren't very big. All the pitches bar two were occupied and there wasn't much space in between each unit. I was originally booked onto pitch 30 but there was a large tent on 29 which encroached halfway onto 30, making pitching my tent impossible, so I had to change to another pitch. This was so uneven that I had to put wooden blocks under my kitchen stand and larder unit, and my bed sloped sideways so much that I kept rolling into the side of the bedroom pod and ended up with dreadful backache.

The two water taps are located at the back of the pitches along the hedge separating the camping field from the caravans, and with tents in front of them they aren't easy to find. The only dustbins are situated at the very top of the field so quite a long walk for anyone camping at the bottom. The facilities block is situated over on the caravan section, the toilets and showers were spotlessly clean and there was music playing whenever I went in there; I didn't use the washing up facilities so I can't comment on those.

Unfortunately the site is under the flight path for Liverpool airport, and from 6am for well over three hours the planes were coming over literally one after the other - under normal circumstances I don't mind a few planes but this was more than just a few and the constant drone for so long became annoying after a while.

On the plus side there's a dog walk between the camping field and the caravan section, with a small enclosed field where dogs can be let off the lead, and the tops of the hook-up posts are all lit up at night. There are several single storey buildings separated into different units selling antiques, collectables, and gifts etc, a book shop, sweet shop, cafe, children's play barn and a Yankee Candle shop. There's very little to see or do in the immediate area - Frodsham town centre and Morrisons are just a short drive away, also Delamere Forest and Go Ape are only about ten minutes away by car, but anywhere else is quite a distance away.

This was my first time at this site and I really only wanted to stay for two nights, Saturday and Sunday, but the site 'rules' meant I had to also book the Friday - no use to me as I work in the evenings and can't get away until Saturday morning, so it meant I had to pay for a night I couldn't use, which at £13 per night for myself and two small dogs worked out expensive. On checking in at reception I was given a swipe card for access to the toilets and showers, I had to pay a £10 deposit for this which was refunded at the end of my stay. Unfortunately I was only given £5 back, which I didn't realise until I got home and by then it was too late to do anything about it.

No doubt many people, especially those with kids, will think this site great but unfortunately I don't. I hated every minute of my stay there and if I hadn't already paid for one night I couldn't use I would have left after the first night there. Looking round it seems that the place is either being redeveloped or extended and I think with a few tweaks here and there it could be made into a really nice site, but unfortunately it's not for me so I won't be going back.
