Stayed for 3 nights was quite disappointed with the site having read all the good reviews. Site is located in a nice area and is quite well laid out. However there only seemed to be three young members of staff running the site on a busy weekend. The bin areas were overflowing, the dog walk was littered with rubbish and the toilet blocks both men's and women's smelled and were in need of a good clean. Children were also running in and out of the toilets, however this is parental responsibility as card entry is required. The laundry come washing up room was also dirty, I never saw any members of staff walking round the site. The grass required cutting and one lady was emptying grey waste on the grass next to her caravan pitch.

We didn't use the club so cannot comment on that. Visited the city of Chester and Chester zoo which were both about ten miles from the site.

This was our first ever Caravan trip and we are complete novices however have been planning this experience for about three years prior to our van purchase.

We decided to travel only a short distance from our home in Lancashire and were prepared for the worse should caravanning turn out not to be for us. This was not the case. When we arrived the first bonus was that we got one nights stay for free as we booked a Monday to Thursday so were £22 better off just for turning up. The staff were extremely helpful and provided us with a site layout and explained what all the facilities were and where they were. You are provided with a pass card to access the toilet/shower block and enter and exit the site at any time of day or night. We easily manouvered and reversed into our pitch despite being first timers and then got set up. The 16amp hook up never murmoured a word despite us having everything from a domestic mini freezer to a three bar Halogen heater for the awning late at night. (we didn't need the heater but tried it out to see if it worked). The weather was superb for the whole three days which if you come from Lancashire is extraordinary.

The site plan is available to view and book online so you can pick your pitch if available in advance. We chose to be on pitch 66 as we thought being away from the buildings would suit us better if the site was busy. The site wasn't busy at all but there were enough people there, all of which were not only friendly but most seemed to be regular veteran stayers or had seasonal pitches. The good people we spoke to were actually taking shifts between mum and dad working in the daytime so their kids could stay on site then the family all got together in the evenings.

The toilet/shower/wash houses were immaculate and had piping hot water 24hrs a day accessible with your pass card. There was no extra charges for this, this all came in the price as did an indoor heated washing up area with four huge sinks with scalding hot water to shift the greasiest pots and pans. There were coin operated commercial sized washing machines and dryers which only cost £2. 00 for a wash and increments of 50p for the dryers. I had around two to three showers a day whilst there simply because the weather was so hot, it felt good to shower. There were I think 7 showers, a whole bank of mirrored wash hand basins, several loos and urinals all in tip top condition and cleaned I think every couple of hours throughout the working day. God knows how they can provide such good facilities all in a fixed price. The actual site saw plenty of grass manicuring throughout the day and the waste/recycling and grey water and toilet emptying was regularly attended to throughout the working day.

As far as I could tell, all the pitches were 'super-pitches' with hard-standings for your van and car with a suitably large grassed area for your awning. 16 Amp EHU as stated, and a fresh water tap were located at the front of every two pitches. We were particularly pleased as we had vacant pitches either side of us but it wouldn't have been a problem if they were filled.

For the children, there was an indoor and outdoor play area and both were very good indeed providing constant fun for all the kids who made new friends very easily. The indoor play area has a height restriction of 4ft 6' which ruled my 9 year old out but we had a look and it was comparable to any 'Cheeky Monkeys' type affair costing £3. 80 a turn (An hour I think). The outdoor play area is free and quite big so our child and her friends were on it all day into the evening.

Next to the touring site is the tenting camp site and it has to be said, this was a beautiful setting and actually had a better long range view of the countryside than the touring site as the touring site had a tree and bush perimeter so you cant actually see out very far then beyond that was a huge field with goal posts at one end. The kids absolutely love this site and if they are confident enough to make new friends then you are in for a peaceful trip. The site even feels safe and secure and you don't feel concerned every-time your kids disappear from view.

In addition to all this happiness, there is a craft centre, antiques emporium and other 'oldy worldy' type units on site. The fair-trade furniture centre has some stunning products for sale too of note some very large and grand teak armchairs carved from huge tree trunks.

I have no criticisms of this site whatsoever but you should carry levelling blocks in your van depending what pitch you are on. As novices this didn't occur to us but we were still very comfortable in our van and any inclines are manageable with some artistic adjustments of jockey wheel and steadies.

We paid a visit to the very recently opened club house in the daytime just to see whats on offer. It is located away from the immediate pitches so you would not be affected if it ever did get rowdy in there. We enjoyed a selection of their craft ice creams but noted that their alcohol (bottled beers and lagers) as well as some spirits and wines were all very reasonably priced for a club house with a captive audience.

The only other thing to comment on is that if you like plane spotting then you will like this site. The site is clearly on the flight path to Manchester or Liverpool Airport and you get a real good view of some huge aircraft coming and going but not so frequently that it bothers you. If anything, it added to the intrigue.

This is an excellent campsite for tourers, tenters and I forgot to mention, glampers. They offer stagecoaches and pods on this site too. I don't know how much they cost but you can book/hire a hot tub too for £20. 00

WiFi is the only extra cost at £3. 00 for one device for 24hrs. I think you get a discount for more than one device but we didn't use it.

We did the obligatory trip to Chester Zoo which was only 25 minutes away (road works this time). This cost us £67. 00 for two adults and one child. It was boiling hot the day we went and most of the animals were lazing around but it was still a must see. Even nicer than this was a walk around the Blakemoss Lake in the Delamere forest which is literally 3 minutes down the road. The 'Go-Ape' Course runs above in some places so you can watch people terrify themselves if you like that sort of thing or you can pay and have a go. We had lunch at the Carrier Inn en route which was super cuisine and it is a star rated venue.

Overall, this is a great site, we will definitely return.

Stayed mid week for a few days. Friendly greeting and helpful reception. Facilities clean, showers are push button, no bench or chair in shower cubicles but there were some chairs stacked in the block. The site roads and hardstandings are gravel, looked like broken up road chippings. The pitches do slope, levelling blocks and chocks were needed. Rock pegs will also be needed. I was on pitch 74 a previous user had given up trying to remove their pegs. I removed three they left and couldn't remove one that had been hammered in. The grass was cut whilst we were there. Whilst the grass isn't manicured like some of the Caravan club and Camping and Caravan club sites it was ok. The Elsan point looked like it need a deep clean it wasn't nasty, just looked like it needed a deep clean. No calor gas on site yet, there is a shop in Frodsham, Rightway who are stockists but they were out of stock. I found another stockist at Preston Brook Marina approx 4 miles away. My wife enjoyed Frodsham Market on Thursday and I found the Travellers Rest a pleasant 15 minute stroll from the camp. I think when the new clubhouse is fully functional this will enhance the site even more. Would I go there again :- Yes.

Chose this for a first weekend away in our new (to us) caravan. Booked with friends who arrived the day before us so when we arrived in the dark and cold of a Friday night in March they were able to direct us to our pitch and help us set up. Very useful having water on each pitch and the pitches are a good size and not crammed too close together. As it was early March the site wasn't over crowded but I guess it gets very busy at peak times as the facilities are very good indeed.

Only downside for us really was the dog walking field which is really small - especially if you have a dog who needs to run off energy.

Shower block was fabulous, although I didn't see any electric sockets for hairdryers etc (there might have been but I didn't see any).

There was some building work going on so it did look a bit of a shambles as we first got on to the site.

The pitches with the hot tubs and the camping pods looked great too.

It is not the cheapest site but if you're looking for good facilities on a big site then I guess this is what you pay.

Stayed here in our Pennine Pathfinder on a Caraven Pitch from 15th to 17th April for a short weekend, loved it. Very clean, very friendly staff. Good showers & toilets with heated floor. 16ampEHU. Great Cafe on site and a few interesting shops for a walk around, close to Delamere Forest which is good for walking/cycling through. The ground was boggy with all the recent weather but where isn't. Pitches with Hot Tubs are available as are Glamping Pods & stagecoaches which look like fun. Playground for kids to.

Great Facilities and will return as it's only an hours drive for us.

Went out of season with just the 2 adults.

Good points:-

The pitches are fully serviced although I can't comment about how good that was as we're not set up for it. The cost for us out of season was £18. 50 and WiFi was free as it was temperamental so they didn't charge. I think it's about a £5 for the week, but check. There is a security barrier.

The showers were voted Loo of the year recently. I found them OK.

The view from the site is extensive, even seeing Jodrell Bank.

It's a very quiet site as its 2 miles out of Frodsham so the noise from the M56 is minimal and only when the air is still. There seems to be plenty of play areas for children.

There are good undercover dish washing and laundry facilities and a fridge/freezer facility for tenters, who have their own field with EHU if required.

Not so good points:-

The road leading onto the site is very poor and the potholes are even right outside the security barrier. The pitches are not very big. The Caravans/Motorhome fit on a hard standing that is in my view quite narrow as the awning goes onto a grass area next to it. The car has to fit on the front. We only have a small 2 berth and small saloon and just about made it. The grass was too wet to park on.

The shower block has underfloor heating and was clean and warm with enough toilets and showers. However the shower did not have a seat and the curtain rail was fitted far too close to the user for comfort. Water was hot enough but of the push button variety.

All in all, a decent site but could be better.

Back home now after my long weekend at lady hayes caravan park Frodsham. Got to say it's not a bad place at all. Toilet and showers are modern and clean and my only criticism would be that you are forever pushing the button to keep the water flowing. I'm all for been Green but 10 seconds would be OK. There is a nice cafe near the entrance that does take out as well. Also it's a fish and chip shop. A pub that's a must is my old favourite over the years is the ring o bells on church Road. Next to that is the bulls head which we ate at and it was fab. All I would say is the park needs some nice flower pots about the place. It would just help break up the landscape as it looks barron. I will be going back.

Well apart from the fact that some of the facilities advertised were no longer there (local brewery, bar had no licence post 5. 00pm) the only view was of the caravan/motorhome next to you, and the cost was extortionate I have nothing positive to say. Really wasn't my kind of site.

 BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT site.

Clean, quiet. Secure, good places for the kids to play too.

Showers with heated floors. Wow.

Little shopping street, keeps you occupied

Play area, indoor and outdoor for the children too,

Anyone who is negative about this site, needs to say which sites they like better, I have been to a few, but I CANNOT fault this one.

Good value, been to some sites who are slightly more expensive, yet don't get what you get for the extra money?

Regarding the uneven pitches. WHAT! Maybe the person trying to pitch cannot pitch properly!

Great caravan site. Recommended.
