Booked this site as it was fairly local to us and we were only going for 2 nights. When we arrived we were amazed at how nice it was, we couldn't believe we were only 20 mins from home !
We were in the overflow field for tents and the pitches were great. It was a slight walk to the facilities but we didn't mind. The first tent field the pitches seemed closer together but still fine.
There was a great clubhouse on site which we wernt expecting. It had a play area for the kids which was free, great as we could have a drink in peace for 10 mins. There was also a little shop but didn't have much stock really. Morrisons is just down the road in Frodsham village so not a problem. There were also lots of quirky shops within the craft and antique centre, great for a little wonder if you have a spare hour or so.
Th facilities were fantastic, loads of toilets which were immaculate and well stocked with loo roll. Showers fab too and always plenty of hot water. Also loads of modern sinks and mirrors, so no worries or waiting to wash your face or brush your teeth !
A briliant site and really reasonably priced £15 for a family of 4 in a tent and £3 extra for EHU. Will definitely be visiting again.

We stayed here as it had been recommended as good value for money which it certainly was.
We arrived to find our pre-selected tent pitch water logged and were able to move to another. Pitches are very small if you have a large family tent with an extension/canopy. They are lined up like terrace houses with no privacy and the ground is very uneven and on a slope.
It rained during our stay and we had puddles under the tent which was not great. You can choose your pitch and I would recommend those from 23 (I think) as this side of the field the pitches are slightly longer.
The washblock was clean enough although the floor in the showers always seemed to be quite dirty. There were plenty of toilets (too many?) but often had to queue for the showers. It would be nice to have some private sinks though.
The family cubicle was rarely used by others but provided a large space to easily shower two children - would've been better if these had been external to the male/female areas though so families could use. Also the washblock was a bit of a walk from the camping pitches.
The children loved the indoor play area in the clubhouse although we only went there one night (out of seven) as it was too busy and loud for us on an evening. We didn't really use the outdoor play area as there is a sand pit that is more like builders sand than play sand causing clothes to stain.
We went to Chester Zoo, the Wirral and Llandudno so it's a good site to access that part of the UK. There is a great park called Castle Park in Frodsham for the kids and Morrisons and Tescos are a short drive away.
The site is on the flight path for Liverpool airport. It's not overly busy apart from several planes around 10. 30pm which seem to be lower than the others!
We had a nice week away but wouldn't return to this site. Pitch size would definitely prevent us from returning. However if you are going away in a group and book pitches next to each other it's probably ideal!

Just returned from our 2nd visit to Lady heyes having stayed there last year not long after it opened, and I think the site is getting better all the time.
There have been improvements to the play area, and there is now a bar/clubhouse with a nice decked area to sit out on and dogs are welcome too.
Lovely views over Cheshire on a clear day- you can see joderel bank etc. I spoke to the warden and further improvement are planned for next year such as the camping field getting it's own shower block and maybe some super pitches with hot tubs.
My only criticism is the pitches are not level so take my advice and make sure you have a leveller with you, and the electric hook up points are situated in strange places.

We returned yesterday from our first venture out with our trailer tent. The site itself is lovely, everything very modern and the cleanest shower/toilet block ive seen yet. The pitch wasn't very level, quite a few sunken bits and because of the rain it was very boggy too. We'll just ask for a different pitch next time.
Unfortunately we never made it to wander round the little shops on site as we were too busy 'finding our feet' with the tent, however there is an indoor playcentre on site which is perfect if you have little ones and its bad weather. My little boy loved it. The outdoor play area unfortunately isnt great. As mentioned before on a previous review its just a fort with climbing bits. Not great for young toddlers.
We went into Frodsham a couple of times to get something to eat. Chippy tea as too exhausted and wet to do anything else! So I cant really comment on what's there. It looked like a pretty place though.
We had a couple of issues with our Trailer tent, there was nobody on hand to help while we were there and as the site was quiet, not many volunteers! So we just had to 'make do' however when we checked out, the man on the desk was extremely helpful with where we might have gone wrong with poles. We mentioned we may return in a few weeks to which he said he will give us a hand with the poles.
Will definitely return to this site and will hopefully get to see more of it next time. (with a properly erected trailer tent!) :)

We have stayed on this caravan site twice in two weeks, its local to our home, near enough for a fast set up but far enough to feel we have been away.
We are going back again next week.
This is a lovely site, still relatively new, lovely layout feels informal although all pitches are numbered. The facilities are excellent A1. There are plenty of toilets, showers and sinks, there is even a family/disabled shower room. The whole site is well looked after. There is a big wooden fort for children to play in complete with sand pit.
There is a bistro on the retail side of Lady Heyes which serves a beautiful breakfast at a reasonable price. The retail outlets are good to walk around and are well visited. Overall an experience I believe many will repeat again and again as we have. Only one negative comment to make, that is they could maybe could do with a few more waste bins.

Checkin was efficent - access to the site being controlled by a RFID card swipe. Just watch the side of your van when driving - you need to be near to the access pad to swipe it without getting out the car, so steer away so the van does not hit it.
We were given a map of the site showing our (pre selected) pitch. The flip side of the map was a list of rules, where were good, but written like a set of orders rather than friendly rules.
Our pitch was an ok size, but the car had to be parked on the adjacent grass as there was no room elsewhere - I hate that as it means wet or muddy feet.
The toilet block is excellent - the best I have seen anywhere, and always clean.
The site does feel like a ghost town mid week however, as there seem to be many vans sitting there locked up waiting for the weekend.
The site slopes quite a bit, and given that all caravan pitches appear to be hardstanding, I do ask why did they not make any attempt to level the pitches when putting down the base. Don't visit without your levelling kit! Quite a few vans appeared to have their jockey wheels as far down as they could go in an attempt to level them up.
The roadways around the site are all made from what appears to be crumbed tarmac - the stuff that gets removed when resurfacing a road - so not your usual stuff and quite rough.
The playpark is very basic - no swings, no slide, no see-saw. Just a basic timber fort with a simple timber 'ship' inside. There is also a sand pit - but do give it a wide bearth as the 'sand' stains clothes and does not wash off!
Given that this is a pretty new site, I was very surprised to see weeds growing within many hardstanding pitches and also around paths.
One big disappointment was the amount of dog poo -on a lot of the grass which is obviously a major hassle for kids - not really acceptable and clearly the rules are not being enforced in this respect.
I was also surprised of the amount of litter around the perimeter of the site, which was probably made worse by the amount of wind - the site being high up on the exposed hill.
In summary, the site has very good potential, excellent toilets/showers - just needs a bit of TLC and clean up the dog poo and litter and a proper play park - then it will be a top site.

We stayed here for a 3 night for day stay, and we most definitely will be returning. The toilet shower/block facility is vey modern and clean and has an excellent family room with baby bath in ( excellent for our 6 month old), with a great laundary room area with sinks to wash up in and also with the use of a deep chest freezer for food.
Lovely playground area for children and the site overall has a lovely feel about it. Staff very helpful. Also there is the bonus of shops at the front of the site ( I particularly enjoyed this. I m not so sure my husband did!) with antiques, teddy bear shops, cake shops a book shop. There was all sorts really! Also there is a child's play barn there too.
Now for what we felt was the bonus. The campsite club house. This is called the loft run by a guy called Lopez, what can I say, excellent service and lovely place ( we felt as though we could have been abroad sat on the veranda! Indoor is another ( yes! another ball park) and child dance floor with a convenient little shop at the side, we enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked for new years eve here! And would highly recommend anyone to stay, you won't be disappointed!

We stayed just after queens jubilee at the beginning of june.
Great campsite generally, the cleanest shower/toilet block I have ever seen. The on site bar is great and child friendly, although does close at 10:30, last orders 10. The portuguese chap that runs it is very friendly.
Park is in certain need of updating, it needs some sort of play area, at the moment it is just a mud pit really, think it is supposed to be sand but some kids clothes were stained from it. All in all a great site only let down is the park but I was told whilst there that it was getting revamped.
When the park gets an overhaul we will definitely go back.
Tent pitches are supposed to be 10m long and 5m wide but going off the measurments of our tent (montana 6 and awning) it seemed maybe 2m longer than that. We got the tent, awning and car in the space so they are very generous.
Make sure you have a long Electric hook up as they are at the front of the pitch, or obviously pich tent closer.
Great site though and would recommend it to anyone.

We were at this site end of May beginning of June for the jubilee. The tent field was packed out and so was the caravan field but the 5 star facilities were always clean and maintained.
The weather was horrible but the site manager still managed to come round every day and make sure all was ok. All in all an excellent site, this was our 2nd stay within a month.
Only 2 small criticisms are
1. It is on the flight path for Liverpool Airport which is annoying when your 4yr old son knows the sound of every plane and all you hear is 'that's another Easy Jet dad' and
2, The play area is a sort of building sand which when wet stains clothes and skin looking like a badly applied false tan.
Will defo return again to this exceptional site

My family and I stayed at this site Friday 8th June - Sunday 10th June. We have just bought a caravan and it was our maiden voyage. There were 6 adults and 1 child and a 7 month old puppy. I chose this site after reading the reviews and I didn't read one bad review.
We arrived and checked in at reception, everything was explained to us, how to hook up to the electric and water etc. I noticed how clean and tidy the site looked. There are barriers to get onto the actual site so it is safe. There is a craft centre which is open to the general public but the public does not encroach on the actual camp site itself.
When we arrived the weather was slightly windy and raining, but we got the caravan and awning set up with no problems. As the evening progressed the weather worsened until we had torrential rain and gale force winds!
The caravan and awning stood up to the test of the bad weather and we survived the night.
It is not a large site, the toilet block and washing facilities are within a very short walking distance from all over the camp. The toilet and shower block is very clean. There is a laundry room and dish washing facilities. The toilet block and laundry room are always locked and are accessed using a pass card - which is given on check-in making them safe.
There is an out-door children's play area in the middle of the camp.
The town of Frodsham is only a short distance away and there is a Morrison's supermarket, you need the car to get there as its slightly a bit too far to walk. Further on there is a 24 hour Tesco.
Overall, my impression of my first time in a caravan was excellent, I don't think I could have picked a better site for our first attempt at caravanning. I will definitely use this site again. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. If there is a star rating I would rate this 9/10, reason for not 10/10 is that the camp is slightly uneven and you have to make sure that you get your caravan evened up, but this again will come in time with experience as we go out more often.
