We spent 10 nights here and what a lovely 10 days it was.
The welcome from Alex (site manager) was pleasant. He explained where everything was and how it worked with the entrance barriers especially the external barrier that is closed at 1030pm and unless you have a card you cannot access the site.
Our pitch was easy to find and an all service pitch but this felt that the location of the Hookup / taps / waste were in the wrong place - we could not have used it unless we carried massive waste pipes or a big hose reel for the fresh water so had to make do but it did not cost any extra.
The pitch was slightly sloping - we had to use levelling blocks and blocks of wood under the steadies - some wood was provided if you needed to do this. The pitches are all hardstanding but easy enough to knock your pegs in if you are using an awning.
I did feel that some of the pitches were too close to each other and some pitches had tents in the grassed areas around the pitches (great if you are part of a group - not so great if you are one of the surrounding vans).
The toilets when we arrived were spotless but I found the Ladies to be very smelly (which did not go for a few days). Over the BH weekend kids were running in and out bringing sand in from the sand pit which is located just outside the toilet block
The showers are hot but could do with a handy rack in each one for your toiletries when in the shower and a squeegee for clearing up excess water after use. Noise at night was kept to a minimum - Alex walked round after 1030pm and asked people to keep noise down when becoming too loud.
Tents are generally in a separate part of the site and have their own hook up's too for the Glampers!
The craft/antique shops are great and some bargains to be had. We took a trip up to the Bistro and tried the Sangria which was lovely. I had a hot baguette one afternoon although it was a little on the pricey side - it was beautifully presented and was delicious.
There is a pub which is 10 mins walk away called the Travellers Rest - it is more of an eating place than for a drink as all the tables are laid for eating. Although we did not eat there, the meals that we saw did look very nice and plentiful.
Frodsham is a lovely town with a variety of shops and lots of pubs. The 4 seasons chippy was lovely. Supermarket is Morrisons although not too big - there is a Tesco in nearby Helsby.
We took a day trip to Liverpool on the train from Frodsham ( £5 taxi from site to station - but make sure you tell driver Frodsham otherwise you will end up at Runcorn station for £15 ) Train fare was £5. 70 return - we did loads in Liverpool.
Delemere Forest is a short drive away and had Go Ape (rope's through the trees) This was £30 for an adult - we did not do this but watched a few people and it looked fun - one for next time me thinks!
Discover Caravans is not far away should you need anything and Blakemere Antique and Craft centre is a little further on from there which we had a visit to.
I will most definitely use this site again, I would also recommend it to others. We met some great people here and will be meeting up with them again soon.

We have just returned from our 2nd visit to the site. We spent a very wet and windy Bank Holiday weekend there.
Still a very good site and good value for money with the half price offer, but now colder and wetter months approaching would not pay the full price without there being the club and shop they are promising to include.
The site is very open and at the top of a hill so it is a bit bleak when the weather is bad and needs the extra facilities to give you an option of things to do.
They are trying to do different things to entertain guests e. G Very Good live band on the Saturday evening but 6-8pm was a little early.
Would agree with other reviews that a car is a must to tour the area.
There is a Bistro in Craft centre that is excellent and with a 20% discount on the main course for campers is good value for money.
We may go back but only when and if they put the club on.

Stayed here for a long weekend and found it to be a decent site. Very new. Pitches all hard standing and could do with being more level, also electricity points sited in strange place.
Craft and antiques shops on site and the one and only Bob Carolgees has a candle shop there where he will serve you personally.
Shower blocks very clean and modern. Not much for young children except a sand pit. Playing field for older kids.
In a good location for visiting Delamere forest and other Cheshire tourist attractions such as Beeston castle. If you fancy venturing further afield visit the RAF museum at cosford which will take you about 1 hr 20 min but is free to get in.

We stayed in this site for 2 nights during a busy August. It was fairly full for caravans but there was plenty of space for tents and the option of an electric hook up for each tent pitch (we didn't take this up. ) We originally booked this site due to the dog shower which was a handy feature given we have a very mucky dog! There were plenty of toilets and showers for humans too - all in a very new and convient block. It is further to walk from the tenting area than the caravans - but it was suitable at every point in the day and well enough lit during night time. It was also incredibly good value for money - we've paid double for similar facilities e. G. The WiFi was very useful for planning our onward journey. There were plenty of little shops and a pub within walking distance. The nearby village of Frodsham is very pretty and has everything you need including a supermarket.
Overall, a nice part of the country and campsite and somewhere we would stop at again on our way northwards.

20/08/11 Our 3rd camping trip checking reviews on here first. So we were aware of the pet crematorium, but hadn't realised how close it was! It is noisy enough to keep you awake as it kicks in, running 24/7.
Reception greeting by a very helpful staff member, who explained how to find our pitch and where the water and hook ups were. We didn't have a problem with the hook up distance from the tent or finding the water supply, they were fitting night lights on all the hook up areas to brighten the lane between the tents.
Toilets/showers and washing up areas were clean, plenty of soap/toilet roll too. Including disabled and family shower rooms. But only 2 hooks on the back of shower room doors to put items while showering. Craft shops were good to browse round too. On-site cafe/restaurant served a super evening menu, several dishes that we wish we'd had time to sample more of. Lamb Henry and the fish dish were delightful, well cooked and service was timely too and reasonably priced. No issue with camp site noise or neighbours, all friendly. Thankfully the site was not full as this could have been claustrophobic. Very likely to return and have recommended to friends with young children too. There was a large sandbox for the children to have a play in on the caravan field and they did seem to be having lots of fun. Was close enough to walk into Frodsham for chip shop too.

Lovely clean site, fantastic toilet block done to a high standard. Improvements would be to suggest a shelve in the shower cubicle for toiletries, otherwise it was the floor. To have a lower based handryer for little people, my six year old could not reach.
Great having the little shops at the top of the site. Apparently there are plans to have a little store for milk etc, which would greatly improve the attraction of this site.
We went to Tesco in nearby Helsby which caters well but there is a Morrisons in Frodsham which is closer to the site.

2nd visit to this site as it is so close & handy for a quick getaway, once again still neat & tidy, website gone 1 step further in being an easy life to book, now you can not only choose your pitch, you can also get the option of water/ehu, or water/waste & ehu for those with fully serviced equipment, simple, new doggy exercise area now put in, not massive, just a little path to a small patch to run on at the back of the tent field, but does the job if you have a small pooch. Only missing a bakery now in one of the units for hot bread in the mornings

First time campers with two boys 6 and 7 and friends who also had a boy aged 5. Very friendly welcome and allocated pitch which was changed as someone else was already there. Enough room to put 2 tents a 4 and a 5 man on same pitch. Boys soon off to explore on their bikes and felt safe and welcomed. Quirky mix of shops enjoyable but a small convenience store would have been nice. Frodsham only 5 minute drive away with Morrisons, chemists, pubs, takeaways and restaurants. Would of liked to try the Bistro but shut 45 minutes early on the Sunday because they were quiet. Little bit noisy at night with motorway hum and odd plane to John Lennon airport but soon got used to it and kids slept well. Definitely thinking of coming back and exploring more of Cheshire as 2 nights was not enough.

We stayed on this site for the first time on the first weekend in August. First impressions were good, a nice new site with nice new toiletblock.
However. There are now quite a few 'long-stay' units on there, who have extended their units by adding awnings and windbreaks, and in one case, even big plant pots outside. This, to me, gives the site somewhat of a shabby appearance, as the grass around the awnings/windbreaks is very long and unkempt looking. Also, one of these regulars had his radio on that loud (he was quite a few pitches away too) that in the end I went over and asked him to turn it down. The fact that he had to come out of his awning and ask me to repeat what I said says it all. Anyway, he did turn it down, fine.
Another thing that is becoming apparent, at least the weekend we were there, is that the kids use the toiletblock as a play area. When I was having a shower on the Saturday afternoon, there were about 6 young girls running around inside, slamming toilet doors, running water everywhere, setting the hand dryers going all the time and shouting all the time. What I presume was the owner did come in at one point and told them to go out, but they told him they were using the toilets, so he went out and they just carried on. This is not a criticism of the site itself, although I do think it would be better to have key pads on the doors to deter this sort of thing.
Also, a lot of visitors to the craft shops appear to be using these facilities, when I was in there, quite a few ladies with handbags came in and used the loos. When I'm on a site I never take my handbag to go to the loo, so it was obvious they were not on the site. However, presumably management are aware of this and allow it.
On the whole I don't think I would go back there as there is a C&CC site near Delamere Forest which, for us, would be cheaper anyway, and preferable to this site. There is not a lot to do from the site, unless you have transport.

Visited this site for 3 nights, the shower and toilet blocks are very nice and modern, but if you are in a wheel chair or have a child in a push chair then avoid.
The roadways on the site are made of large stone and small wheels like on pushchairs and the front of wheel chairs just don't move on it, had to tip my daughter back on her 2 back wheels to get her round.
The bistro is very nice for a cooked breakfast on a Monday but avoid on a Wednesday as the food is burnt and the toast cold. Must be different staff on that day.
Just not suitable for disabled. The access to all the amenities are all wheelchair accessible but you have to get from your caravan first. My daughter tipped out of her wheel chair on the pot holes in the grass, also there was a neighbouring dog at the side of the campsite that didn't stop barking all through the night.
Will be avoiding this place from now on.
