Stayed here for our first holiday camping, had previously done long weekends nearer to home, stayed here for 10 nights, it would have been nice to know that you needed money for showers (20p for around 3mins) in advance and really needed to out 40p in if shampooing and conditioning hair. It was great that there are fridges and freezers to use to store food. The locations amazing, wonderful dog friendly beaches a short walk, (down through the sand dunes). Facilities always clean and plenty of hot water. We'll be back.

Our seventh visit to this site and as good as ever.
The owners have got the balance just right.
Excellent facilities - always spotless & always hot water, plenty of fridges & freezer space,
Excellent cafe with delicious icecreams and smoothies, small shop, but selling all the right things, including freshly baked bread each day, friendly helpful staff.
There is the fantastic beach. This site is as perfect as you can get, so once we have arrive we rarely leave the site until it is time to go home.

Fantastic site. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The toilets / showers were great. We particularly liked the parent / child toilets! Showers were very good value for money. Toilets and showers were always clean.
Good washing up area plus a couple of big fridges and a big chest freezer. There were also washing machines / dryers, including big stand up dryers for anything non-tumble dry.
The walk back from the beach was very scenic, albeit a reasonably hard walk for small people / pregnant person (both in our party). But the beach was gorgeous.
The children enjoyed playing on the camping field and in the stream nearby. Good little shop for essentials and cafe too.
Not sure about whether there was anything within walking distance (apart from the beach) but there were lots of places within driving distance, from remote to big town.
Overall, great, definitely a place to return to.

We spent 2 weeks here and had a great time - would definitely come back!
The site staff were friendly, washing and laundry facilities good and whilst we're not used to paying 20p for a shower the good quality and maintenance of the facilities didn't leave us feeling short-changed, even in peak season. The camping fields have a gentle slope but our pitch with elec at the top of the west field was level. A small number of clear and sensible rules makes for a relaxed atmosphere. The security barriers are great. All considered the tarrif was good value.
Location is the strong point here, with access through the woods and dunes to the most stunning and quiet beach, complete with pub at the opposite end of the bay, about half hour walk. For an even better view of the bay and most of the rest of the peninsula, have a walk to the top of the hill behind (north) the site. There are plenty of other things to do locally and a wide range of other well priced or even free activities in Swansea. 10/10 for LC2!

Just got back from a lovely three day stay at Nicholaston Farm - weather was amazing so that always helps too! The staff were very friendly and the whole site was very clean and very well organised. The shop selling its own produce from the working farm is great, I thought.
This is a great family site where there is secure entry in and out of the camping fields - so the kids could run about no problems - plus I felt secure with the surfboards on the car when out and about. This is a very quiet site which literally falls into silence by about 10. 30pm.
This will be ideal for many - for me, it was perhaps bordering on a bit too quiet as we were whispering away so we didn't wake anyone up - I don't mind a bit of low level chit chat going on. It's definitely not a site where the kids go to bed and the parents then get smashed! Depends what you're looking for.
The views from the camping field we were in were just superb - looking out across Oxwich Bay and on clear days, you can even see across the water to Ilfracombe. There is a clear sandy path down to the beach which really is 10 mins away and walking through the dunes towards the beach was absolutely stunning - I love Llangennith beach, but this beach may even top the views there and it's more quiet - not as choppy as Llangennith so swimming is perfect and Three Cliffs as a view while you do so is out of this world.
A 20 minute walk will take you to Oxwich Bay Hotel, which has a good pub garden.
Highly recommended and I will definitely be going back, although it seems at the moment that electric hook up can't be guaranteed - you have to take a chance when you arrive on the day.

We stayed in the last week of July 2012 and had the best week ever at Nicholaston. This was helped greatly by the weather which was 25 degrees most days and not a cloud in the sky.
We stayed in the field directly behind the cafe/shop building, gentle slope but we had magnificent views, so it was no problem for us. The washing up facilities were very good and we really appreciated the free fridge and freezer service.
Make sure all items are well labelled. Walk down to the nearest beach is suitable only for the able bodied, coming back it's a good work out!
Only slight grumble would be more shower rooms required with the toilet and wash basin included. These were nearly always busy especially with kids putting in 80p or more which caused delays - maybe have a 40p limit?
Most of the cafe/shop staff were really nice although a couple of the chaps checking us in and out were not very friendly - they need to smile more!
Overall an excellent site, we looked at a couple of others nearby and they were nowhere near as nice as Nicholaston. We'll definitely come back.

We've just spent ten days at this site and had a great time despite very unpredictable weather!
The family and staff who run the site are extremely friendly and helpful, the facilities got busy at times but were kept clean, the fruit picking is a lovely activity to have on-site and the range of fruit and veg in the shop is great and very good value. We used the laundry room, which is the best I've found on a campsite, and we found that 20p for 4 mins in showers was plenty.
I had wondered if the children would meet others to play with as there's no play area - actually, they spent hours playing cricket outside the tents and made some lovely friends. I wouldn't prioritise a play area again after this experience.
The walk down to the beach is less than ten minutes, and it's stunning, but it's a good twenty minutes back up the hill again with tired children! Oxwich is a five minute drive, Caswell and Langland are less than ten minutes and both are beautiful child-friendly beaches with lifeguards and toilets and shops.
The activities in Swansea for rainy days are really good - the LC is the best fun swimming pool we've ever been to and the Waterfront Museum is good for a couple of hours of exploring and has great children's activities. We had a great time at Oystermouth Castle in Mumbles one showery morning, it's just re-opened and is really great for the children and only £6 for a family entry.
We were in the top field, which was very sloping, but had a lovely view of the sea! We paid £24 per night including electrics and that seemed reasonable for August. We'd all love to return to this site next year.

Overall we really enjoyed our 2 nights here. The views are fantastic, the facilities superb, the cafe brilliant, a smashing time had at the PYO and the proximity to the beach lovely. We appreciated the industrial standard kitchen and fridges and were amazed that they were cleaned so often.
We didn't like the very sloping field, which was hard work with the buggy - as was the beach. Please don't take the buggy to the beach from the campsite - too much effort required!
The road which we were next to was noisy, quite late at night too. But being at the top of the field did mean we had no issues with getting wet!
When we were there, the field had just been mowed and we did find that there was a lot of grass inside the tent, but the amount of rain we had whilst there didn't help this much.
Would we return. Yes, with a lightweight buggy!

We stayed for a week at this site in a tent, but unfortunately, it is not one of the better sites that we have stayed on, and not a site that we will return to.
We booked two electric hook up pitches side by side several months in advance, so that we could be next door to our relatives. We didn't get off to a good start, when we were told on arrival that electric hook up pitches were first-come-first-served, and we had to drive round the site looking for a pitch.
The field behind reception was far too steep a slope to pitch the tent, so we went back to reception to relocate to another field at the bottom of the lane, next to the gate leading to the strawberry field.
This field was also sloping, but a little better than the main field behind reception.
Facilities.
In our field we felt that we got very little for our money. All we had in our field was one tap, which was in the hedge, with no hard-standing or drain, so you can imagine how boggy it was around the tap.
There were no toilet or shower facilities in our field, so we had a fairly long trek to the toilets/showers by reception, which although clean and modern, were nearly always full and a queue for both ladies and gents. I carried on into the caravan field where there was a bigger block.
We didn't like the setup of having just 2 cubicles, each with a toilet, shower and sink, so if someone is having a shower, you cant use the toilet, and vice versa.
Bad luck if you're desperate for the loo and someone is having a shower - cross your legs!
The setup was the same in the caravan field, but there were more cubicles, so no queue, there were also more toilets available in the caravan field top-of-the-range laundry/washing-up room.
The chemical disposal point is a long walk from the camp field, so you will probably need to take the portable loo in the car
We were a bit disappointed with the on-site farm shop, as the site sells itself on it's local produce. We went into the shop in peak season for some local sausage for breakfast to find them out of stock.
To summarise the facilities, toilets/showers/laundry/washing-up block were clean and modern, but no-where near sufficient for the size of the site. They were, in our mind, located in the wrong field - why have the washing up facilities in the caravan field, where the caravans are self-sufficient, but nothing in the camping field!?
The location.
The location is excellent, and this is what you are paying for. There is a 10 minute walk through the woods and across the dunes to a perfect beach, that is very quiet.
You are also close to a number of other beaches if you travel by car.
Swansea is a short drive away if you have a spare day to do some shopping. The city centre has an excellent selection of shops, but be ready to pay an arm and a leg to park the car. Our stay of just over 4 hours cost us. Wait for it. £11. 50!
The Mumbles is a nice day out, we recommend the road train that takes you all along the coast for just £5 per family - Absolute bargain. At the end of the train route is a Lido, cafe (nice cakes!), and play area.
Port Eynon is a nice little place, with a couple of shops and sea front cafe/restaurants and lifeguarded beach.
Local Shops.
There are two local shops in driving distance, both of them you need to turn left out of the camp site, the first being the garage, and for the second you need to carry on past the garage, turn right (signposted Rhossilli) and it's just there on the left.
If you turn right out of the site there is a co-op shop in the village of Killay and there is also a good camping shop at Upper Killay, if you need any spare parts.

Excellent location, with great views and lovely (if steep) walk to the massive expanse of sand, Oxwich Bay.
Some reviewers had mentioned the amount of rules at the site. This appealed to me having just returned from a very noisy site. There are rules, but they aren't enforced. There were several groups who were incredibly noisy until the early hours, with the field scattered with cans and bottles. Nothing was done unfortunately. Although site staff did apologise and were extremely polite and helpful in all other areas.
Shop was basic. No camping essentials, but small selection of food. Cafe was ok.
Showers were adequate for 20p but there aren't sufficient facilities for the number of units at weekends. It was ok in the week when many went home.
Site is on slope. Recommend buying anti slip matting for your surfaces! As some have mentioned it does back on to busy road.
Pitches weren't allocated and some tents pitched very close to each other.
All in all a lovely stay, marred only by excessive noise which wasn't dealt with.
