First time at the site and was very impressed. Access into the site was no problem, but access out, especially when leaving and towing the van was quite difficult. The problem is that if you need to turn right, you can't see the traffic very well from the left. The best way to solve the problem was to turn left! went over the 'bryn' at Reynoldston (cefn bryn is the hill running down the gower) and along the North Gower Road. Lot easier this way and will actually use this route in next time.
Staff were OK and check in was OK. I have no problem with a list of rules which were posted up. They are there so everyone can enjoy their holiday. I also have no problem with the barrier and access key. I think that at some time the site owners must have got annoyed at people using the site as a car park for the popular beaches, and had the gate installed.
The toilets were very clean. The mens were made up of 3 bathroom sized cubicles with a toilet, sink and shower in each one. Showers were hot and 20p for 4 minutes. If these were full, I suggest using the other showers 50 yards around the corner, which were just as clean. Whilst I was there, I did not have any problems with getting a shower. (Then again I was up at 07.00am!)
Shop was ok for the real basics, but the cafe they have is great.
The pitch I had was huge, and the view was one of the best on Gower. It can get quite windy at the top of the field where I was, but pitching at the bottom of the field which was a little flatter and not so exposed would protect from the strong winds. Only problem is you lose the view.
I was also glad the owners have not given in to the temptation to allow units along the centre of the field. This allowed for an ideal area for ball games, Frisbee, etc.
Site went quiet very early, and where I was there was no trouble at all with noise.
Get your provisions at Knelston garage. Best place around and quite reasonable (8 cans of special vat £5!)
Overall I was impressed with the site. Well run and clean, good views and not far off the main road. A little bit of a slope, but will keep you fit!

Excellent site, would definitely recommend to anyone. Toilets and showers were clean and plenty of them, not too much of a wait even at peak times. Separate room with washers and dryers, and separate room for dishwashing. Dishwashing room also had fridges and freezers for campers use, this site even supplies bin bags! Showers etc were coin-op but did get plenty of time for 20p and hot water seemed endless.
On-site cafe and shop is excellent and really good value for money, the paninis were lovely and the cooked breakfast a Godsend. Different fields were located around the main courtyard where facilities were, so everything was easily walkable. Beautiful walk onto the beach from the campsite, beach quiet and felt quite secluded, lovely for letting the dog off the lead for a run around.
Site is well placed for lots of lovely tourist spots in the area and if the weather isn't so good there is a leisure centre 20 or so minutes away in Swansea and a free museum! Pennard was a short drive with an all ability cliff walk, National Trust car park £2.50 for the day, a lovely cafe (had a selection of wheat and gluten free cakes) and shop and pretty clean public toilets.
Two child friendly pubs quite near serving good food for a reasonable price were the Gower Inn just down the road, and the Beaufort Arms in Kittle, can get very busy on rainy days.
All in all a lovely place to stay, perfect for children and pets welcome, a very friendly atmosphere.

Visited this site earlier this month. The majority of pitches are sloped so this can be very difficult to pitch, especially if you required electric hook up, as majority of hook ups were in the middle of the field with very few around the border.
Toilet blocks and showers were always clean with lots of hot water, average time for a shower was 4 minutes for 20p - I think that there was insufficient showers and toilets for the size of the site could do with a few more as these were always busy and always had queues.
The laundry facilities consisted of one washing machine and two tumble dryers again not enough for the size of the site.
Industrial size Fridges and Freezers were available for everyone's use, these were free of charge to everyone and the staff were continually checking to make sure they were clean and no food was left behind and out of date.
Site shop was clean but only catered for essentials (bread/milk etc.) Seemed to cater more for the pick your own side of fruit and veg as well as cafe. Did not even sell a newspaper!
On the whole the site was very clean, staff very helpful and polite. The site could do with a park area for the children as there was nothing for them.
The site could be very windy but it did have fantastic views over the bay. Not sure if I would return to this particular site in the future.

We usually stop at Three Cliffs, but couldn't get in this year, so tried this site instead. Site is approached via a narrow lane, which is dangerous when leaving the site - be careful of traffic to look left! Site shop is fine if you want fruit\veg, bread, milk and some very basics - obviously geared up for selling the hot food. The shop staff were efficient but not overly pleasant - can't recall hearing a please or thank you from them all week.
Toilets are bizzarre - there are toilets but they are inside the showers, so if you need the loo - let's hope you can wait. The showers give 4 minutes maximum - cost 20p. Good shower, warm and never out of hot water - but as usual need more hooks.
The washing up block is fine - 3/4 sinks, washing machine £2.60 & dryer £1.50 (50p/15mins). There were not enough of these for the whole site. The site is split over three fields, the top tent field is on a 1 in 4 slope, so quite tricky to pitch tents, although the view is fantastic. Watch out for the wind - I would go for a border pitch to get some shelter. Couldn't get the car up the field after the downpours. The beach is very good, a great wooded walk through sand dunes to a glorious stretch of sand - probably 2 miles long. The surf was good fun for the youngsters and plenty of rock pools - towards Tor Bay (Left). We had three children - 8,5 and 18 months and lugged wet suits, body boards, tent etc down. Wouldn't do this everyday as it is quite a trek back up.
Other things - no playground, but plenty of space, pitch went quiet about 10:30 - but this could have been due to the dodgy weather, no problem with the power, water is a bit of a lug uphill, but you can work off that cooked breakfast. Local shops are a car drive away. Wished we had known about Caswell beach from previous review - would have given it a go and saved my legs!
So in summary, great location, fab beach, steep climb, slopey pitch, OK facilities, dodgy exit and poor shop.

Just returned from this site. Good site but we were very unlucky with the weather which was stormy. As other reviewers have mentioned the site is quite exposed on the side of very beautiful cliffs.
The site was reasonably busy when we arrived and as a result we needed to pitch our tent in the centre of the top field. For our large family tent we found this a very wind swept place and if we come back we will try to pitch around the edges in a much more sheltered place.
The area is very picturesque and well worth a visit. All the campsite facilities are good and kept very clean. The coffee shop is good and the food and drinks very good quality, but a little pricey when buying snacks for a family.
There is a beach at the bottom of the cliffs which is truly stunning and empty but is a hell of a trek up and down the sand dunes to get there. If you are really fit and up for it and without small children it really is beautiful and worth the hike.
The best beach that we found for surfing and that is easily accessible was Caswell bay. It is about 10 minutes drive from the campsite. You can park right down at the beach and walk straight onto it. Rhossilli bay is beautiful and good for surfing but it is a very long walk down a path from the car park carrying all your belongings. So we would recommend Caswell bay.
It takes about 20 minutes to drive to Swansea or Mumbles and there a loads of nice shops, pubs and restaurants and things to do there.
Overall we rate this site well and will use it again when returning to the Gower. It is well run and thought out. But beware of the wind and get by a hedge if you can if you are not in a hike tent.

Just returned from 4 days here. We have weighed up the fors and againsts and are pretty sure we would go again to this site.
We have no choice but to go during school hols as we both work in schools so this needs to be borne in mind because as you can imagine it was busy.
Against; Yes list of rules as said in previous reviews but they aren't kept to or enforced. Says no campfires but we counted at least 6 pitches with them; noise volume to be lowered at 10:30 pm. Didn't happen except when other campers told people to be quiet. I saw a group of 9 teenagers being noisy and disruptive by the showers at 12:30 a.M. And a regular member of staff just walked by and ignored them; Dogs on leads at all time; most did but in the field we were in there were 4 pitches that allowed their dogs to run around everywhere.
That walk back from beach on deep sand a killer! but hey I'm unfit!
Facilities are small for volume everytime I wanted the loo day and night I was queuing for it. 4 loos in ladies 2 in shower rooms and one in washing sink room leaving only one dedicated loo. No checking or regulation on how people pitch, we returned from day out on our last evening to find someone had pitched so close their tent pegs were up against our tent! Didn't understand as plenty of room. If we had been staying longer would have done something but it was our last night.
Fors; beautiful site, great beach (apart from walk) fantastic walk across the cliffs with views to die for, great smoothies, fresh veg and fruit on site, facilities spotless and cleaned regularly and very well presented. View from our field half way up and top great but we camped lower down and couldn't see but was worth it as it was more crowded where view was.
Staff were ok but run of feet so can't comment on if particularly friendly. Lots to see and do in area but be prepared it's out in the wilds though useful little supermarket at petrol station towards Port Eyon. Wish the site shop had more things useful to campers like disposable BBQs though.
This is a good site and I think outside of school hols would be perfect but I'm not going to know that for a few years yet, sadly. I do look forward to a stay in the future.

This site is FANTASTIC A1+ We are definitely gonna return.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the views from our caravan across Oxwich Bay were breathtaking.
The showers are lovely and warm and I think that the 20p coin slot is a great idea so the showers aren't occupied for too long.
The wash room had great facilities and the farm cafe do FABULOUS SMOOTHIES (gotta try one)
We found the site easily down a steep narrow country lane and the staff quickly directed us to the touring caravan field through the barrier - we were the first there and could pick our own pitch but by the end of that evening the field was full.
Being on the cliff tops you are open to the elements and we had to take our awning down at 4am due to bad rain and high winds some were upto 62mph,,, we were one of the lucky ones and got most of our awning down before it ripped it completely over the top of the caravan - others weren't so lucky and several caravaners lost their awning due to the highs winds (but this is by no means the sites fault) I just wanted to point out the weather can be very unpredictable and to be aware.
The walk through the woods down to the beach is quite a trek it's a tiny path weaving its way literally through the woods and once at the bottom you then have to make your way across the sand dunes (which are very steep and hilly and walking in soft sand up a steep hill is very tiring we had to stop several times and im by no means un-fit)
It's one thing to get down to the beach and another to get back up ha-ha (not ideal for little ones)
But all said and done this site is lovely and we ARE returning next year (with a bigger car or a 4x4 though because we found it very difficult to get back onto the main road as our car struggled getting back up the very steep narrow lane when leaving the site)
Well done to all the staff and keep up the good work this is a fabulous site. A1+++++++++++++++++++++

We arrived on a very wet wednesday and were the first there so had the choice of pitches. We were Ttold hat it was flatter at the top (on the bottom field) but I'm realy pleased that we chose to pitch at the bottom of the field as it was more sheltered and the slope was hardly noticable. There are crows about early in the morning so I dont suggest you leave bin bags out as they spread rubbish everywhere.
The toilet / shower block were very clean. I saw them being cleaned twice if not three times a day. Showers cost 20p for 4 minutes but you can imagine when it is very busy, time needs to be limited and this I would think is the best way to do it. There is a seperate room for washing up and they provide bin bags it also has spotless fridges and freezers, again kept very clean. There is also a laundry room but we didn't realLy need to use it.
The cafe / farm shop sells most basic needs and some lovely fresh picked fruit and veg. The cafe is spotless and does the nicest fresh orange juice I have had in a long time. Coffee is quite good too! The food is basic but nice and freshly cooked. Perfect on a wet morning when you dont want to cook outside.
The beach is lovely when you get down there through a very senic woodland walk . But I dont reccomend it with 2 toddlers under 2! Its quite a slog to get back up and no chance of taking the pushchair!
Not many nice pubs localy exept the King Arther Hotel but gets very busy very early
On the whole this was a reaLly great site and very family friendly. The staff were cheerfull and helpful. We will definatly be back.

This campsite is located on the cliff overlooking Oxwich bay and the views are stunning. Well worth the walk down through the woods to the beach. I didn't find the campsite staff particularly friendly, but not unpleasant by any stretch of the imagination. Was very put off by the barrier and list of rules, stopped for a while to consider going to another site from my many ukcampsite.Co.Uk print outs. I just think this isn't a very nice greeting to visitors, despite being an excellent site.
If you are in the field directly behind the cafe then you might want to consider carefully where you place your tent. Along the top of the field is a full panoramic view of the sea and also the A4118 which is noisy until gone midnight and starts up again quite early. At the bottom of the gentle slope are quieter pitches which I could see were shady in the morning (so no furnace effect at 7am) , however no view. So make your own mind up, I was right up by the road but if I go again I'd try and get somewhere in the middle.
The shower blocks are excellent with whole seperate rooms with toilet and showers. Could probably do with more as I could see there being a queue in August.
On the whole I enjoyed my stay here but I think you should be careful where you pitch, due the reasons stated above.

We have just spent a fantastic four days at this site. The shower blocks were kept very clean, the site itself was immaculate and the owner and his staff were absolute stars!
We didn't arrive until 10.15 pm and the owner directed us to a vacant pitch and told us we could move to another one in the morning if we wanted to. We didn't move as our view across the bay was breathtaking.
The weather was more than a little wet and this plus the bad driving skills of some of the motorhome / van drivers made manoevering nigh on impossible and some campers got stuck. However, the ever helpful owner armed with his trusty tractor managed to help all those in need and did so happily.
This site is ideal if you want a 'no frills' holiday although the facilities are all modern. The only down side is the shop. The nearest shop is a fair distance and the site shop only sold the basics. However, we had a great breakfast in the new cafe. The walks in this area were great and the owner loaned us his map for the duration of our stay. He also marked out some of the best walks. Originally Nicholaston was our second choice of sites but now it is without a doubt our first. We will definitely be back.
