Have visited the area before but this was the first time at this campsite. We were really impressed with the facilities and, despite the variable weather, they were cleaned several times a day and were always spotless.
Showers cost 20p a time but there was always hot water and we only had to queue briefly at any time even though the campsite was busy. Also great to have fridge and freezer for campers to use and the shop stocked essentials including fresh fruit and vegetables.
Cafe was well used and served great food. Site has wonderful views over Oxwich Bay and we managed the walk down to the beach with three small children. Coming back up again was more of a struggle but not too bad. Will definitely return if we are in this area again.

Just got back from a lovely 2 night stay with our 2 small children. The facilities here are really brilliant. Very spacious fridges and freezers for ice packs, milk etc, spotless family sized shower rooms (never had to queue for ones in caravan field), and plenty of toilets (again never queued in caravan field block).
Washing up facilities for dishes and clothes are best I've seen - and free bin bags!
The field we were in did slope in places, but no set pitches (unless you want hook up) means you can find a spot that suits. And the views are wonderful.
We don't have dogs, but this is a dog friendly site. All owners kept dogs on leads and we saw no mess.
The site was quiet at night even though it was quite busy, everyone seemed to respect the rule of reduced noise by 10.30pm which is quite rare at some sites.
The shop sells all the basics and not over priced either which is a bonus. The cafe was great, we didn't eat there but the food looked and smelt lovely. All the staff were great and the cats are very sweet.
Will certainly return, we all had a great time, very safe for kids to run around. The beach is breath-taking - however we found the walk back up very steep (a long way for little legs) so we drove to very nearby Oxwich beach (stacks of parking, toilets and snack hut on beach) which is also fab.
Overall, this is a site where you can be as self sufficient as you want, but there are perks if you fancy a little bit of luxury.

I would not recommend this site for groups. I booked to stay at this site with a group of friends on the basis of the good reviews here.
However, when we arrived, we were not made to feel welcome at all, and they politely suggested we go somewhere else, I wouldn't have minded if we hadn't booked, but none of this was mentioned on the phone. They told us they don't like young people, don't like alcohol being consumed on site, lights out at 10pm, and silence from 10. 30. The list went on and on.
Unfortunately as we were travelling from all over it was too late to change to another campsite, so we stayed.
The camping field is just one big busy field, and there is no chance to try and pitch far away from anyone else, so we were terrified of upsetting any of our neighbours and getting evicted from ths site, not very relaxing at all. (In case I am giving the wrong impression of our group I would like to point out that we are all under 35, and like to drink but have never had any complaints at all previously).
The toilets and showers are very posh, proper tiled rooms, not the usual concrete. However, there were only four ladies loos next to the main camping field, which had constant queues, and really needed cleaning far more often with the volume of people using them. Also, as the toilet, shower and sink are all in one cubicle this added to the queing time.
There are other loos in the caravan field, and even more hidden past the washing up sinks. These were much cleaner, presumably because they're not as busy. There are quite a lot of loos and showers hidden around the site, some behind unmarked doors, and better signage and a clear site map would have made mornings much, much easier.
The showers nearest the camp site give 3min25s for 20p, and the ones in the campervan field give 4. 59 for the same price.
We spent the day on the beach, which is very very beautiful, miles and miles of golden sand. As other reviewers have said, a 10min walk there, and 20min slog back up. Fine for us, but probably not if you have small children. No loos on the beach, so we did have to go up and down a few times in the day. Were nervous about getting told off for bringing sand into the showers, but the outdoor shower for rinsing is also in the campervan field and badly signposted so we didn't find it til we were leaving. Would be convenient to have one near the top of the path to the beach.
The website says that there are three pubs within walking distance. Two of these are along the roads, and with no verges and lots of traffic it is terrifying. We walked along the beach to the oxwich hotel for dinner. It is about three miles, and we were pretty tired when we finally got there. Luckily the food was delicious. A taxi back was £25 for a car, or £50 for a minibus taxi, and you have to pay the receptionist at the hotel when you book. (The taxi prices were minimum for any distance, so even the nearer pubs would have cost the same).
The cafe on site was good, reasonably priced breakfasts. On site fridges also a nice touch.
I would think that for a family staying in the week, this would be a nice site, but as a young group we were not welcomed at all, and the facilities didn't cope well with the number of people staying over the weekend.

A lovely site with good facilities, clean and plenty of toilet roll! We had a great time at the beach, which I thought was better than the one at three cliffs bay and oxwich.
Be prepared to do lots of walking locally to get the best out of the beaches and surrounding area. Great exercise though!
Would like to have visited the pub, but distance to walk was an issue, unless you use the car.
We camped in the field near the 'pick your own' lane, which although close, meant a bit too much of a walk if you need the toilet in the middle of the night.

We have stayed at many sites over a 40 year period, this site was unusual. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the shop provides decent food and great coffee. The washing up facilities are excellent and there are fridges and freezers available. The toilet blocks are modern and look nice after they have been cleaned.
The site itself is built on the side of a hill. As stated in the description parking for vans has been levelled, tents are not so fortunate, there are a few pitches available on flattish ground however the majority particularly in the main field are on a steep slope. I have never before seen a site on such a steep slope.
This did not suit us at all. Driving into the field is interesting, there is a short concrete ramp up the side of the shop with a barrier at the top, unfortunately it is only when you arrive at the barrier and search for the key slot that you realise it is at the bottom of the ramp.
The ramp is so steep that it starts off below the level of the shop and finishes above the ceiling of the shop. Many drivers stalled or rolled backwards on the slope. The barrier is intended as a security device and yet it was left open from late evening until the morning on most nights. It was so steep that if we hadn’t already paid we would have driven elsewhere.
There is no mention of the extra cost of showers (I do not like hidden extras after you arrive at your chosen site, perhaps I have to create a list of questions to ask before booking in future!). This is promoted as a family site therefore many campers will have children with them.
Pay showers are particularly difficult with young children, particularly when you only get 4 mins or 3 ½ mins in men’s showers. Allow 30 secs for the hot water to come through and you don’t have much time for a shower. My kids lost 40p in the showers because they couldn’t get them hot (the water comes through after you pay, but is cold, you have to continue turning the dial, the water then stops running again at about 5, still cold, continue turning past 6 and warm water runs. There is also a block where the pay slot is on the outside of the shower cubicle in a public area, you either pay for your shower half naked or pay and undress very quickly.
Although the showers are cleaned possibly twice a day, they don’t stay clean for long. There are a number of causes, first there are a lot of teenagers and 20 something’s staying at the site. The site is not really a family site it is a site for anyone, including single sex groups. I don’t object to this normally except when it is supposed to be a family site. Another reason is that there is no facility for cleaning up after a shower as in most sites we stay at. A mop in the corner can make a big difference.
The site states that it takes 5 – 10 minutes to reach the beach, I was unable to find a beach that close, I would argue that it was more like 20 mins away downhill. The return journey up a steep incline taking longer. This site is ok but we have stayed at much better sites. We will not be returning.

We travelled here by public transport, which was very easy as the bus stop is located just outside the camp site. The pitches are located on 2 fields which are sloping gently, however this was not that much trouble for us. The facilities are great, very clean and the showers always have hot water! There is a farm shop and cafe on site with the basics of milk and bread etc available. There is also a communal fridge and freezer available, which is very handy!
The pick your own is great fun and we couldn't believe the value for money. The beach is worth the walk back up the steps afterwards. You walk down through woodlands and over sand dunes and after this 10 minute walk you reach the most amazing beaches. Wide sandy beaches and when the tide is out you can walk through to many bays further along the coast, including Three Cliff Bay. We also enjoyed walking along the cliff top footpaths and watching the sunsets. The weather was beautiful all week, blue sky and sunshine!
I would definitely recommend the camp site to anyone, especially for its location and attractions nearby.

Had a lovely two night stay at Nicholaston. We went based on some of the good reviews and was not disappointed. The site was very busy as it was the end of the half term holiday with good weather, but despite this the facilities were clean, had a good sized pitch and all the other campers were courteous with their dogs, children, noise etc. It was still a very peaceful and relaxed stay.
There was a bit of traffic noise where we were pitched but it did not concern us and the views were great. The walk to the amazing beach was an added bonus. We did try and book before our trip but unfortunately we could not get through on the phone or email, thankfully there was room when we arrived.
The cafe was good and the bacon sandwiches are recommended (proper thick bacon!) The staff were helpful and friendly and we would definitely go back.

We spent a lovely few days here over the bank holiday weekend. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and let us stay later than we should have on our last day so we could wait to see if the rain eased off before taking the tent down.
As lots of reviewers mention, the site is fairly sloped, but we found a flat-ish place to pitch at the top of one of the camping fields which gave us lovely views.
The facilities were clean and plentiful (try the toilet/shower block in the camping field if there's a queue in the main block). The on-site farm shop stocks a decent range of bread, milk, cakes, fresh fruit and veg etc. It also boasts a fantastic cafe - the 'campers special' cooked breakfast was a welcome and delicious treat on wet mornings.
Our only negative about the site would be the lack of marked out pitches. Some of the people camping near us pitched very close when there was plenty of other space available. It's good you can pitch where you want to, but marked out pitches would prevent this.
Our main reason for staying was to go to the beautiful Gower beaches. Sadly the weather prevented as much time on the beach as we'd have liked, but for wet days we discovered the Gower Heritage Centre which was a fantastic day out. We got a couple of sunny days and visited the Mumbles where you can walk, cycle or catch a land train around the coast to Blackpill. Plenty of ice-cream parlours, bars and cafes en route. If you've got children and have had enough of the sand, try the Lido at Blackpill. We also had a day at Caswell Bay which was lovely. You can park opposite the beach and there's a shop and toilets.
All in all, we had a lovely stay and would definitely return.

Nicholaston farm great place. All staff helpful and friendly. I`ve read other reviews and people have said field slopes and it is a problem? well yes it does slope, but if your a camper this should not be a problem because campers adapt or improvise to their situation, the slope not a problem to me.
Toilets and showers are clean and well looked after and the showers cost 20pence, I think they last 4 minutes, correct me if I`m wrong but I`m a great believer in you pay for what you use, as water is very precious so hopefully having to pay for it we will use less!
As for queueing, yes there were queues but if you use your loaf the caravan site next to the tent site was empty no queues!
You really have to look at your surroundings and talk to other people to get to know the camp site well. The beach is fantastic, golden and clean sands for miles with plenty of good walking, the only problem for me was the good old british weather, as long as it didn`t rain no problem.
The day of our departure my mate asked one of the staff would it be a problem to leave our cars in field while we go down to beach? not a problem, then we didn`t have to worry, brilliant. We went into mumbles which is a lovely town and walked on the old pier and saw a flying display. Crazy golf always seems to go down well with the kids
We will be back to nicholaston farm next year without a doubt.

Just returned from this very relaxed and well serviced site. Great that you can pitch anywhere you wish in the field so we opted for the fantastic sea view at the top of the slope (slight road noise not an issue for us).
Didn't walk to beach but took the car - 5mins to Oxwich Slade. Due to the fantastic weather the site was busy and had to queue for toilets / showers but not too long. Really enjoyed this site and would definitely recommend and intend to return.
