We stayed here for 9 days at the end of July. The site was easy to find a few miles outside of Swansea but through some narrow roads for the last few miles.
Everyone at the site were very friendly and helpful. The shower block in the caravan field was one of the best we have ever used and regularly cleaned, with 4 shower cubicles with loo as well as separate toilets and a super wash up area. 20p for 4 minutes was a small price to pay for the high quality of facilities. The on site farm shop was full of fresh fruit and veg, and the homely cafe served us a fine breakfast! If you get a pitch high up the field you have a lovely view over Oxwich Bay, lower down you look out over hedgerows at the view. The only slight niggle with the site is the pitches aren't numbered so it was first come first served on the pitches. Also, due to the extreme wet weather we experienced, the lower part of the field was boggy. That said, the owners were so obliging they towed us off site!As the exit is on a bend and with a hill start, they towed us across the road,so we could safely start our journey home which was a very kind gesture- I believe they often do this for anyone who requests this service, thank you!
The walk to the beach is OK 10-15 minutes walk (downhill) but getting back up is harder work !
We found a lovely beach 'Caswell' about 8 miles away we used often.
All in all a lovely site in a lovely part of Wales and would return again !

Fantastic site. Showers clean, hot and plenty of them, free freezing facility, all facilities nearby and staff helpful.
Slightly sloping field but not a problem when the view is stunning.
Can't believe they trying to ban camping in this area. What better way to teach children about the environment and how to respect it than living in it?.
Will hopefully be back next year.

We have just returned from a really enjoyable week at Nicholaston.
We were put in the bottom field and despite it having rained on and off for a couple of days the pitches weren't waterlogged at all.
The toilet facilities, as others have mentioned, were spotless. The only slightly confusing thing was the instructions for the coin meters for the showers had all come off so there were a few chilly moments the first morning! We did notice that the different shower blocks gave different amounts of time for showers - the ones in the caravan field gave 4 minutes instead of the 3 offered in the block by the bottom field.
The cooked breakfasts on site were very welcome to warm up with on a cold wet morning. When we realised we'd forgotten to pack our stove regulator, the helpful lady at reception pointed us in the direction of a very nice child-friendly pub down the road, which we were very grateful for!
Although there were no specific child facilities, such as a playground, this didn't seem to matter to ours one bit.
The only downside was that Gower council may not be allowing tented camping on the peninsula from 2010 which would be a real shame as we would like to go back.

I love this place it is brilliant. Would suggest that anyone should go. The people who own the campsite are really nice. There is a cafe on site that has all the produce that the farm has grown. You can buy all the essentials from here as well such as bread and milk and they do a really nice breakfast!
There were, when we went, facilities to wash your clothes which was handy as we were camping for two weeks. The toilet block was spotless as it was cleaned constantly the showers cost an additional 20p which is OK you just need to remember to stock up.
You can access the beach from the campsite which is lovely, the walk does not take long however it would not be suitable for pushchairs as it is pretty steep but well worth the walk.
Locally there is a wonderful archery and falconary place called Perriswood this place is brill and offers an hour of falconry and archery for £10 we have been a few times now and the staff are wonderful.

Just returned from a great week at this site. The site has three fields, one caravan, and two camping ones.
We were on the second of the camping fields, slightly down the lane (still with electric hook-up). This was much quieter and suited us given we had our 2 year old with us!
Although that said, it did mean the loo's were a little further walk. Advisable to pick your pitch carefully as there is a slope which can cause you to slip down your bed! :-)
Facilities at the site were excellent & outstandingly clean all the time; and the staff were very friendly and always helpful.
On site cafe & farm shop was very good, useful for those days you didn't want to cook or ran out of essentials.
There is no child play area, however we knew this before going and this didn't impact our stay, it would just have been a nice to have, to give us a slight break/sit down! :-)
The local beach was very quite & clean, although quite a trek and no toilets, but the view was amazing.
Apparently the Welsh assembly is trying to stop camping on such sites in the Gower, opting for use of the larger more commercial type sites. I for one would not go to this area if they were the only choice of sites. We much prefer the smaller, more natural type sites (like this one), where you actually feel close to nature and not just herded into a holiday holding facility!
A lovely area to visit, and hopefully will be returning again to this site.
Thanks to all at Nicholaston Farm, who made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Our two year old was in his element the whole stay too!

We've just got back from what was, admittedly a lovely calm and hot weeked in June.
The view was incredible with the sea changing colour with the reflection of the sky behind it.
The walk to the sea was a bit steep but not too bad and considering that on Monday afternoon we had two miles of fantastic Gower beach with warm(ish) water all to ourselves, well worth it.
The facilities on the caravan (hard standing) field were top quality. Looked brand new and were very clean.
If there is a down side it is that this is not the cheapest site we have ever stayed at, but that is a minor point.
Loved it and will be back.

As locals (half hour drive) we have visited this site a few times and twice in the last few weeks.
It is a really lovely and friendly site and not too big. Previous reviews have commented on its facilities and again on our visit they were spotless although some queues in the morning and tea time, to be expected during a hot and sunny half term!
They sell a small selection of necessities in the shop (food and drink), although Killay is about a 10 min drive with a Co-op and Safeway plus chemist, take away etc. We sampled some of the home grown asparagus - wonderful.
The location is second to none with outstanding views over to Oxwich with lovely walks along the coast and hills. The beaches are down a fairly steep hill and are unspoilt and quiet as a result. The best way we found was to exit the site through the gate at the bottom of the caravan field and keep to the left path (as opposed to going down the hill) then walk along the top of the cliff until you reach the lime kiln, then follow the path down to the cove, it is an easier climb up than the other path!
I think this is one of Gower's best sites both for caravanning and camping but be warned camping here may shortly be a thing of the past as the City and County of Swansea, in their 'infinite wisdom', are trying to BAN camping completely on the Gower from 2010, apparently tents are an 'eyesore' and there is a petition doing the rounds regarding this!

This is a great site, though to be honest, it's location is it's best selling point.
The site itself is very well kept with good and clean facilities. 20p showers but worth the small charge and water is always hot. 2 blocks of facilities and the showers within are all enclosed in the one tiled private room with sink and toilet so great if you have kiddies.
Site has great views of the beach in the top field with plenty of space. No children's play area but you don't need one with miles of beach and sand dunes a short and pleasant walk from the site.
Little shop and cafe.Have an ice-cream.
Recommend Swansea indoor market for fresh and cheap camping grub.
Surrounding area incredibly beautiful (3-Cliffs Bay, Rossili Bay)and would definitely return staying at this site.
Mr Fox sometimes visits and is very inquisitive so check that your fresh food is zipped up in the tent at night!

We were greeted by the really friendly owner who told us to make ourselves at home on one of the hardstandings in the far field. Although it is a sloping field level hardstandings are cut into the hillside. We were spoilt for choice and selected a pitch with a fine view of the bay but sheltered by the hedging that surrounds the field (when turning around to leave the other site we had also had concerns that it was rather exposed to the elements, but no such worries here).
We then trotted over to the facilities. They were up to the minute and spotlessly clean, in the ladies were three suites combining shower, loo and sink, plus a single loo and a sink in the communal area. All very new and clean. The showers cost 20p for which you get 4 minutes which doesn't sound a lot but is in fact plenty - I spent half of that just standing around once my ablutions were complete in the lovely hot water. The kitchen area was of a similar standard and even had a quartet of handy plug sockets. I didn't require the services of the elsan disposal on this occasion, but it looked brand new, clean and discreet behind a built-in metal door.
There is a gate at the bottom of the field which opens onto a wooded path to the cliffs and lovely views (I am unsure if it goes to the bay itself or not, but there is a beach path near the entrance to the site). There is a shop too, which we didn't use so I cannot comment on it but my understanding is that it is a farm shop and they also do pick your own.

We have just come home from a week at this campsite in a beautiful part of South Wales - the Gower Peninsula.
The campsite is set on a working farm, around a central courtyard. There is a caravan field on the far side and then two tent fields - the upper field directly off the courtyard and the lower field just slightly further down the hill.
We wanted electric hook-up which is only available on the upper field. We were told we could pitch anywhere on the top field. The field is sloping but we managed to find a fairly flat pitch. Despite being over the August Bank Holiday, the site was fairly quiet - although that was probably due to the atrocious weather. Because campers are free to pitch anywhere, there were a few tents pitched near the hookup points that were not using the electric hookup. We had no problems finding a space but you could end up not being able to get a space near a hook up point despite having booked one.
The views from the top of the upper field were lovely - overlooking Oxwich bay. The top of the field is near the road which can get quite busy, so if you want peace and quiet then pitch further down the hill or on the lower field.
The toilets and showers were immaculate - despite the fields being incredibly muddy, the floors were kept clean. The only downside was that there was only 4 loos in the ladies and 2 of these were inside shower cubicles so couldn't be used when someone was in the shower. The two showers in the ladies were in large cubicles so I could shower myself and three children at the same time. Showers cost 20p for 3 and a half minutes and were nice and hot and the hairdryer in the ladies also cost 20p. There was another set of toilets/showers in the caravan field but I didn't go and look at those. There was also 4 single shower cubicles behind the washing up sinks. There is a disabled shower/toilet with a baby changing table in it.
The washing up room has 3 sinks and also houses 2 large freezers and 2 large fridges in which campers are invited to put their food. This was a great facility - one that I haven't seen on other campsites. There is also a washing machine and two tumble dryers.
There is a cafe on site which does a fabulous cooked breakfast and other meals and also sells homemade cakes. They sell wonderful smoothies and freshly squeezed orange juice. It does sell a few odds and ends to make meals but wasn't what I would call a camp shop - it mainly sells farm produce.
Locally, the beach is a 10 minute walk down a steep hill through the woods and sand dunes. The beach is gorgeous but because of the weather we didn't use it as often as we wanted. We went in to Swansea for a couple of days - the new Leisure Centre on the sea front was excellent with wave pools, rapids and also a good area for toddlers. The Waterfront museum of Welsh History is also worth a visit (and is free). There is a large Tesco and Sainsburys in the centre of Swansea - perfect for stocking up on food before arriving on the campsite.
Overall, despite the weather, we had a fabulous holiday and will visit the campsite again. It cost us £18 per night for a large family tent (sleeps 8) and £2 per night for electric hookup.
