We love this site, the owners are very friendly.
It is in a lovely location right by the river, the toilets and showers are always spotless.
It is a short walk into Cheddar where you can find all the usuall shops and a pub that serves food, then another 10 mins walk and you are up by the gorge where there are a number of pubs, restaurants and take aways.
While we were there The Riverside inn had a beer festival on over the weekend, there were a number of fine ales and ciders to try, we had a very good afternoon!
We do try to visit Cheddar touring park at least once a year, and will definitely pay a visit next year.

The location of this site to cheddar is fantastic and this would be the main reason I would return to the site as we could leave the car and walk.
I've read the other reviews and on the whole agree with them, however I don't agree that this site is a 4* site in relation to the facilities for tent users.
The tent field is very spacious and you are able to pitch were you like, there weren't many fellow campers while we were there and we had plenty of room, however the facilities on the camping field are just not adequate enough and it really is a fair strut to the better facilities, if the toilet was in use then it seemed to be a very long walk to the other toilets, especially first thing in the morning!
The facilities on offer for tent users are for ladies, a single toilet and sink (no mirror in here) for the gents single toilet, urinal and small sink, in the covered washing up area, one washing up sink with warm and cold water and two fridges (no good for freezing ice blocks though) but plenty of worktop and a black board with hints and tips to places to eat or visit.
While we were there there didn't seem to be a cleaning routine and the emergency toilet roll was required, bad show for a 4*.
There is a path round the site to get to Cheddar, however unlike some people this was not pointed out to us but we found it anyway. Church bells - well, you get used to them.
So all in all, I didn't rate the camping facilities, but the rest of the site was good and I would say go but be prepared for a walk to the better facilities if you are on the camping field.

Our first visit to this site and it certainly will not be our last. A really chilled and relaxed oasis on the edge of Cheddar village with all amenities close by. Facilities on the site are clean, tidy and well maintained. We pitched beside the river, in the sun and just relaxed. What more do you need ? We can definitely recommend the 'Cheddar Cottage' Indian takeaway, one of the best curries we have ever had ! We will try the Thai/ Lao restaurant next time and hope its as good.
We would recommend this site to anyone wanting an informal laid back but well run site.

Rang up to book last minute and had excellent response from owner. Arrived at campsite where owner was welcoming and helpful.
Site was fairly busy but not full and we were allowed to select our own pitch.
Most of the pitches had hardstandings which are easier with campervans as we were often in and out.
The campsite was immaculate and the toilet blocks clean and warm. The site is adults only which was great for two grey travellers.
It is convenient for Cheddar Village and for the Gorge.
A very definite recommendation and we will certainly return.

Been twice to this site, once for a stop-over and then for a long Bank Holiday weekend.
Very neat and tidy with a warm welcome from the owners and a generally 'cosy' feel to the place. It's adults only and so the noisiest part is the river which runs along one side of the site. That said, the nearby church has a very erratic clock which seems to chime quarter hours at random, though not at night.
Toilet and shower facilities are clean and tidy as well as there being another small facility at the opposite end of the site.
Cheddar has three pubs but the Bath Arms is a bit Sky TV and cheesy chips while the Riverside and White Hart were quieter and served decent food at a reasonable price.
Dog walking was good with a field at one end but better still a long walk by the river out of a side gate. The walk into the village should not be undertaken along the road! it is tight and on a bend but there is a pedestrian way at the back of the site.
TV reception is problematic if you set up too close to the trees but we got there in the end.
All in all a very pleasant site which we will continue to use for mini-breaks.

My husband, his sister and her husband and I have just spent 3 nights at this delightful site. We were able to choose our pitches, which were of a good size with a grassed area between them. The site is very well set out.
We too were not affected by the church bells, they added to the charm of the site.
I agree about the missing hair dryer nozzle and push button for the shower being missing and assume these will be fixed soon ( It was the 1st week of the season)
I also agree that it is much safer to use the foot path to the village at the rear of the site - there is no footpath outside the site and motorists really don't care about pedestrians!
The Owners were very friendly and helpful and when one of the electric hook ups tripped all the electricity off David sprang into action, found the problem and had it sorted with the hour.
Cheddar itself is a lovely place to visit. It's just a shame we had lots of fog when we were here!
We would certainly stay here again.

We have just returned from a lovely 2 nights at this site, only using it as a stopover on the way home from Minehead. At £13 per night low season it was very good value for money.
We found it quiet and peaceful, even did not really notice the church bell until someone pointed it out to us. All the facilities were as previously mentioned although there were one or two small points we raised. The ladies hairdryer was lacking a nozzle and one of the showers had lost it's push button. Apparently there was a similar one missing in the gents.
We had a nice walk in to Cheddar and up around the Gorge - make a note to use the footpath from the back of the site rather than walking along the road from the main entrance - it is a lot safer!
Arriving from the Cheddar Village side the entrance was not very visible and is a sharp right-hand turn in to the gate. Caravans should take care, it would be quite easy to overshoot!
The owners were very pleasant and helpful and we will certainly return, hopefully for a longer stay next time.

Just had 5 nights at this fantastic adults only site.
Site owners (Tracy & David) are lovely and can't do enough for you. Easy check in, with a choice of pitches. We had a lovely hardstanding pitch in the central section opposite the graveyard (nice quiet neighbours, just how we like it!).
Water points dotted around the site and bins with recycling for glass and tins only. Toilet block with 2 showers in each, 3 toilets and 3 privacy cubicles.
There is also a uni-sex bathroom/wet room. Under-cover washing up area which doubles up as the information room. 2 supermarkets (Budgens & Tesco) within easy walk from Cheddar Bridge for your essentials.
The village is just a 10/15 min stroll from the site and has everything you could wish for. Great doggie friendly pubs. We used the Riverside Inn(dogs outside in beer garden only) 3 times - £11 for 3 courses (yes 3!) between 12noon - 6:30pm - bargain.
The White Hart was good too (dogs allowed inside) - good food and the best local cider in town - Cheddar Valley! Plenty of tea rooms, fish & chip shops, chinese and indian restaurants too.
We took our bikes and biked along the Strawberry Line (which starts just outside Cheddar near the industrial estate). We got as far as Sandford - where Thatchers cider is made - so visited the cider shop there to pick up some supplies! Bikes can be hired for the day, or half day, from the site at reasonable rates.
There's a massive car boot sale on Sunday mornings about 10/15 mins walk from the site too - worth a visit, just for a browse!
We enjoyed our visit to Cheddar Bridge so much that we booked for Easter 2012 before we left!

Quiet little site within easy reach of all the delights of Cheddar.
Amenities blocks were spotless although the ladies' reportedly had some drainage problems at one point during our stay.
Staff very pleasant and helpful and on arrival we were allowed to choose our own pitch.
The foot of the gorge is a 10 minute walk away and is worth the walk if only for a meal at the White Hart, but we recommend skipping the dessert menu there in favour of the ice cream parlour opposite.
Despite the close proximity of the churchyard we never found the bells intrusive although one or two other site users mentioned them to us.

Just returned from a wonderful 3 night break with our dog at Cheddar Bridge. We really enjoyed this site and as stated previously the location is excellent. We arrived on a wet Saturday afternoon but the owners couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful and ever optimistic about the weather improving! I’m pleased to say a few hours later it did and we had terrific weather for the rest of our stay which is always a bonus.
We were given a choice of pitches on arrival and opted for a pitch on the perimeter under the trees with the graveyard for neighbours. This turned out to be a great position for making the most of the sunshine but did mean our awning needed a good shake before packing away due to bits falling of the trees.
The washing up and shower facilities were very clean, pleasant and functional though not luxurious or exceptional. There are adequate water and waste points and bins with recycling options for glass and cans etc. Despite what previous reviewers have said about TV reception we had no problems picking up Freeview with our digital aerial and the picture was mostly good with just very occasional breaking up.
We visited a huge car boot sale on the Sunday which was about 10 minutes walk away from the site and went in to Cheddar village on the Monday which was about 10 minutes walk in the opposite direction but all accessible via the footpath at the back of the site. Cheddar is very touristy with lots of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants but also with some stunning scenery around the Gorge. Just a few minutes away from the site following the river there are wide open fields where we were able to let the dog off her lead for a good old run around which was great.
There is only one downside to this site and that is the fact that it felt a bit cramped at times. This is not so much to do with pitch size as the amount of pitches which we felt could be reduced a little to give a more personal and secluded feel to the site. Having said that the fact that this is for adults only makes up for the cramped feeling and it’s location is outstanding so definitely worth a visit and we’d certainly consider going back.
