So the sunshine was out and we had Annual Leave to use up before the end of the month. Never been to Cheddar so we decided to face the cold head on and do a quick 2 day trip to Cheddar Bridge.
The Campsite is a nice size, not to big or overcrowded when we stayed. The entrance is welcoming and laid out like a courtyard with a little shop, washing up, laundry facilities. A nice touch was a unisex toilet/wash block that would suit families with small children. Toilet block was spotless, fresh & clean. Showers were great (no extra cost).
After the courtyard entrance you move into the static van area that was spacious and well laid out. The tent field was at the back. The area was nice and flat with tables & chairs available for use in the middle. It looked like the owners were preparing another toilet block which would be great addition for the tent field.
Previous reviews have mentioned the Church bells, personally I did not even notice. I did notice the noise from football/rugby pitch that was near the site.
The site is wonderfully located if you want to discover Cheddar. Cheddar is a picturesque place with tons to discover. Just a 5 min walk from the site will get you amongst a couple of nice local pubs, 10 min from Gorge and all the tourist shops.
We will take our friends back to this site later in the year. One thing I will add is that the site feels quite open. The raised public footpath runs along the tent field and seems to be the main school route so you certainly don't feel like your in the countryside.
The site is a great base for Cheddar, Glastonbury and we will return to do a Longleat trip in the summer. Good value, friendly helpful owners, spotless facilities.

We stayed here with our dog in a tent for two nights. The site is very clean and well presented and the owners were friendly and very helpful when our car suffered a flat battery.
The camping field is situated next to the church. On Sunday mornings the bells are rung for half an hour before the service so if you like a lie in on Sunday you might be slightly disappointed. Personally I found it to be very pleasant.
There is a public footpath which runs adjacent to the camping field but the site seemed very secure.
The site is very well located. A 10 minute walk will take you straight to the centre of Cheddar and the attractions.
The toilet/shower block was a short walk through the caravan park and was always spotlessly clean containing two showers in each gents and ladies and also private cubicles for the sinks. I never saw anyone waiting to use the showers while we were there but not sure if this would be the case in peak season. There was no hot water between 12pm and 4pm but this wasn’t a problem for us. The tent pitch field had a separate toilet cabin but this didn’t appear to be operational.
Overall we were very impressed with the site and would recommend it if you are looking for a child free relaxing break.

We have just returned from this site and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
On arrival we were shown around the site and given the option of which pitch we wanted to stay on.
We found the site staff friendly and helpful.
The site has 2 male and 2 female showers with a unisex one also.
The elsan and waste water is also situated by the shower block.
The site is perfectly situated for the town of Cheddar. A steady 5-10 min walk.
There are pubs within the village and also a Bugens supermarket.
We favoured The White Hart pub. The food was reasonably priced and of a good quality.
We visited the Cheddar Cheese making factory to see it being made. The price was £2 and you can return at different times during that day as the cheese is being made. The Gorge and cave was also a good trip. There are many leaflets and brochures which offer discounts on ticket prices for many of the attractions.
All in all a good trip they also have another 20 adults only sites in their group which we will be visiting some next year

We spent a lovely weekend here with our dog. We had a pitch right by the river and it was lovely and quiet.
The whole site was very friendly and quiet. The toilets and showers were clean and the staff very helpful.
The clotted cream teas sold in the reception were lovely - hubby had a couple
Excellent dog walks along the river.
It was a five minute walk up into Cheddar - the pavement at times is missing so can make walking at night a bit hairy. Supermarkets are nice and close to.
Would definitely return here.

We found this site through this website after reading the glowing reviews we booked for 3 nights in August. Definitely recommended and would definitely book and stay there again. Very good price for the stay (electric hook-up with tent).
We booked through the website/email which was simple and quick.
On arrival the first thing you notice is how well presented the site is. Clean and tidy (and the hanging baskets/floral displays are beautiful).
The reception also includes a little stocked shop with gas for sale and bike hire.
The owners are very friendly and helpful.
The facilities were always clean and well stocked.
The washing up room has a vending machine and two sinks with plenty of room to do your washing up (also lots of local information to read).
The toilet/shower blocks include mens/ladies and a unisex shower room, hot water times were on the wall so you knew what times to go, but it was never busy at the times we went. Also there a laundry room with use of fridge/freezer, iron and washing machine/tumble dryer.
A 15 minute walk got us to the Cheddar Gorge caves, and the Cheddar village has many shops for all the things you need, with many restaurants/take-aways too.
To summaries we cant fault site at all, if you are looking for a peaceful, adult only break this is definitely for you!

This site has very well-kept new facilities completely covered on the outside with beautiful hanging baskets. The site is very well-maintained and there two additional toilets (one for men and one for women) at the entrance to the camping field, saving a long walk in the middle of the night! The owners were friendly and helpful and there is a small camp shop selling fabulous local strawberries among other things. There are laundry facilities and a fridge freezer which we made good use of. The site is well-located on the edge of Cheddar. We were able to get to Wells, Glastonbury and Bath easily as well as the Gorge. My only criticism (and this is not something the owners can solve) is that the tent field is next to the local church, which rings its bells every 15 minutes all day and right through the night. Fortunately I had ear plugs with me!

Great Site, clean toilets and showers, friendly and helpful owners. Flat tent field. The church bells ring every 15mins but you get used to it! Great location. We visited cheddar gorge (amazing walk along the tops), Wells (amazing cathedral and generally a really nice place to be), Glastonbury (Good walk up the tor, however the shopping streets are only good for buying over priced stones!) Also visited Bath and Longleat Safari Park, both great days out. A minor criticism I have of the site is there is a public footpath that runs parallel looking over the field, if this was hidden by trees it would of been better. Overall we enjoyed our stay, thanks

We booked late for this campsite and owner very helpful. Booked in at reception with ease and went to the tent part of the campsite. Excellent facilities, very clean toilets and showers including the tent site toilet. We left our teenagers at home and it was nice not to have to be with anyone elses children. The site was close to cheddar gorge and caves and had some lovely tea rooms and restaurant/pubs in the near vacinity catering for every taste. The only drawback I found was at night. The site is neighbours with a beautiful church which has a clock tower. Unfortunately the clock told the time in Big Ben style all the way through the night, so woke me up on the hour every hour. Its a shame as a really lovely well run site.

Immaculate caravan to the highest standard, well equipped(although a whisk would have been useful)but hey-ho a fork sufficed. Most comfortable beds ever(I would have liked to take one home).Right beside the river Yeo in peaceful surroundings. Excellent facilities.
Owners on site and ready to help and handle any problems that might arise.
I Highly recommend this site as, apart from the cleanliness of the site it is also very handy for touring Wells, Western, Brean,Burnham and loads more.
Well done all round.

Fabulous site in the perfect location. We could walk everywhere we needed to go and had a wonderful pitch right next to the river. The site was lovely and clean with the loos fully stocked with loo roll and hand wash as well as being immaculately clean even at the end of the day. While there was only two showers in the ladies I did not have to queue, except once for a couple of minutes.
The lack of kids means the site is peaceful and relaxing (like kids but cannot stand their noise). The owners were really nice and helpful and made the stay one of the best camping experiences I have had. Wish we had booked for two weeks
