A very nice and quiet adult only site.
Very friendly welcome from the owner on arrival who gave us a map of Cheddar and showed us the short cuts to the village before directing us to the tent field.
The Tent field is a separate field at the back of the site which is nice and flat, spacious and has its own small toilet block and washing up area and fridge. This is a good feature as the main block is quite a walk from the tent field. There are also a wooden few picnic tables around which is a nice touch.
Showers are in the main block and are nice and big. (two showers in the mens).
There is a small shop, but we didn’t use it.
There is a pathway which runs round the back of the site which leads into the village. It comes out right next door to a small Tesco’s and next to pub. Bring a torch with you if you intend to use the path at night as it does get very dark in parts.
Cheddar itself is gorgeous, with some great pubs serving good food, beer and cider. The caves are well worth a visit and are in walking distance of the campsite.
There are two negative sides of the site. One is, as mentioned in other reviews, the bells which chime loudly every 15 minutes 24hours. Although I did get used to it and wouldn’t let it put me off returning here. The other is the inflexibility of the early departure time (11am) we asked for a few hours extension on this, and offered to pay, but were told no (We were told we could book an extra night though!).
I would recommend this site and the Cheddar area

Good little site. TV reception poor, Toilets showers etc. All nice and clean and plenty of free hot water. Our daughter stayed in one of the statics which was also very good. Owners very nice and friendly. Ideally situated for Cheddar Gorge, plenty of nice pubs for a meal all dog friendly. Close to two good supermarkets so everything in easy walking distance which is perfect for motor caravannners like us. On the whole a good site which we would use again. Another plus is the close proximity of a bus stop so you can visit the towns in the area.

Stayed in the tent field over the August bank Holiday 7 nights. We picked this site due to the location of Cheddar Gorge which is in walking distance.
On arrival first impression great, with array of flowers round the shower facilities made the site look impressive. Greeted by a wonderful lady in reception who took us to our pitch. Drove through the Caravan pitches to get to the tent field, glad to say we weren't stopping here as they where packing in very tight overlooking each other.
There is a small shop, but we didn’t use it and did not seem to be open very often.
Tent pitches are very spacious in the tent field. We had EHU sad to say this failed us three nights around 8pm. The owner did sort this out by supplying an extra power lead from another source.
The washing up and shower facilities on the caravan side were very clean, pleasant and functional. The portacabin that was attached to the tent field (male) had a sink, urinal & one toilet. (Ladies) 1 toilet & sink only. This was useful but ideally these could do with updating with possibly have a shower added then you would not have to trail to the caravan facilities. There is also one washing up sink and a fridge for campers use.
The one thing you need to be aware of is the raised pathway which runs round the back of the site overlooking the tent field which leads into the village. We found this very intrusive because as people walk by they all seem to look down in to the site. On 3 consecutive nights we were woken up in the early hours of the morning around 2am with sounds of youths returning back from their night out. One night we were woken up by a gang who thought it was a good idea to hurl abuse at every camper asleep shouting obscenities, swearing etc. Thankfully no one retaliated and the youths did eventually go on their away.
People have mentioned the church bells but these did not seem to be a problem for us.
So all in all a good little site in a great location. But I would recommend you ask the owners about paths around the site as all they provide on arrival is a very useful map of Cheddar itself. They do not provide any other information, contact numbers or anything.
Cheddar itself is gorgeous, with some great pubs serving good food, beer and cider. Recommend a visit to the caves which are in walking distance of the campsite.

Just come back from visiting this site, I have to say we enjoyed our stay here, owners very nice, toilets and showers very clean, then only downside to this site is that the pitches are very close and you feel that you are on top of one another, not much room when trying to pitch. I also must say that there is a sign saying dogs must be on leads but this is not the case for everybody! some people think this means everybody elses dog but theirs. I would use this site again but only if it was not a buzy time.

We stayed 4 days at this site the owner and his wife were very friendly. The tent area was a good size with a washing up area. There was one female toilet and one gents toilet on the camping site. And near the entrance there was gents toilets and showers and female toilet and showers also a unisex room with toilet and shower.
The policy of no noise between 23. 00 and 08. 00 seemed to work as it was quite except for the church bells that you could hear all the time.
They didn't interrupt sleeping but I'm sure I counted 13 chimes at one time.
If you didn't want to cook breakfast next door to the site in the football club area where you will find Fat fox cafe they do a wicked full english breakfast and also midday lunch all at very good value. And also a Gluton free menu, dairy free menu.

Friendly owners, nice site but wouldn't stay again unless we really wanted to revisit cheddar gorge as it was in walking distance.
Site was good, shop but tv signal was extremely poor and there was no mention of this before and we spoke to a few others who said thay had given up trying to get a signal.
Was ok, not the best we have been to but ok for a base. We were opposite the bin/recycling/fresh water area and although the pitch was a good size we felt we were too close the the bin/water area and the other pitch directly in front.
When you sat outside you did feel a little awkward. Felt the area behind us and the statics looked a bit unkempt but you couldn't fault the friendliness of the owners.
Toilets clean but nothing to rave about

This was a lovely site with friendly staff on the edge of the town (within easy walking distance).
This is the first adult only site we've stayed at and it was great after being camped next to a noisy family at our previous site.
The tent field is set at the back of the site with its own toilets and dishwashing facilities. The shower block for the whole site is near the entrance and were lovely and clean (with piped radio which was nice).
I would recommend earplugs for a decent night's sleep due to the church clock which chimes every 15 minutes. It didn't ruin our stay though and we stayed an extra night.
We had breakfast in the football club next door which was really good value and delicious too.
Cheddar is a nice town with a few smashing pubs.

My wife and I chose this site after reading the reviews and have to say we were not disappointed.
We spent 5 nights at this site and had a very relaxing time here, even the church bells that have been mentioned in previous reviews didn't disturb our stay.
The owners of the site were friendly and were always helpful if people had any problems. Thought the no noise rule between 11pm and 8am was a nice touch and the other persons staying on the site would always try and keep to this rule, if they didn't they would be asked to leave by the owners, as happened to one group during our stay.
The site has one toilet and shower block for the men and another for the women with two showers in each near to the reception and another smaller toilet block near the tent field, this one only has the one toilet in each but no showers.
This smaller block although functional could do with updating with possibly a shower adding. The area of Cheddar and the gorge are worth a visit and it is only a short walk along the old strawberry line which runs along side the camp to reach the village and the shops and pubs etc.
There are plenty of places to eat within the area all of which are within walking distance.
Our comment about the smaller toilet block between the tent and caravan fields is the only minor gripe we can think of about this lovely site and we would definitely recommend this site to others.

Stayed here for a long weekend and had a lovely time. We could choose where we wanted to pitch our tent. There was loads of space around us. Only thing we didn't realise is that there is a secondary school and public footpath from the housing estate to the town behind the tent field. It didn't bother us too much but you wont get much of a lay in with the noise of teenagers turning up to school. The footpath is used regular throughout the day/evening so some people may prefer to pitch their tent on the opposite side of the field
The toilets and showers were spotless and the kitchen area for campers was excellent, very clean with a fridge for you to keep your food in without worrying about other people helping themselves.
The owners were so friendly and helpful and you could hire a push bike for the day or half day if you wanted to.
The shops and attractions were great and reasonably priced
If your taking a dog with you then you can take your dog into the cheddar caves with you.
We will definitely be staying here again.

We have just spent 2 nights at this delightful site. It is quite a small site on the banks of a stream. It is next door to the Caravan Club site.
It is an adults only site which suits us. The shower and toilet block is clean with lots of hot water and large showers. There is a small shop on site that sells basic items. We bought some beautiful strawberries there.
It is very close to Cheddar and the gorge - a 15 minute stroll to the Gorge. The nearest pub is around 10 minute walk but another 5 minutes you can walk into Cheddar and have a choice of around 5 pubs, all serving meals.
We couldn't get satellite but phone and internet reception was OK.
All in all it is a lovely site and would highly recommend it.
