My wife and I spent a lovely couple of days on this site quiet, with nice clean showers and toilets. The owners were very welcoming, and the pitches were nicely spaced, it is a short walk into Cheddar and not much longer onto the gorge, ate in the Bath Arms food good and a nice atmosphere plenty of other eating places within walking distance. The gorge is commercialised but it is well worth the ticket price the caves were as good as I remember them as a child.

Lovely pretty site - well maintained and very friendly owners. Toilets and showers spotless - adult only is a bonus. Lovely to hear church bells - We did not find them at all intrusive. Rained +++ during our 10 day stay but ground drained well. We were warmly welcomed at the football club next door for a 'mouse racing' fund raising event - great fun. Strawberries and cider sold at the site shop were excellent- added bonus of laundry facilities meant no washing to bring home ! Will certainly visit again.

We've just got back from 3 nights stay at this campsite and it was lovely. The site itself is quite small and quiet but the owners are so friendly they make you very welcome.
The site is just a few minutes walk from the town centre, but we found that if you headed up towards the gorge itself there was a lot more choice of pubs and places to eat.
We did try the Bath Arms on our first night and it wasn't that good, the food was cheap but the pub itself was gross. I wouldn't recommend it!
Although the weather could have been kinder the Gorge was a great place to visit and we happily spent the morning and early afternoon exploring, if it hadn't been raining so hard we would have done the gorge walk too!
I would recommend this site to anyone, and yes perhaps the two showers and three toilets could be a little busy at times, but you never had to wait too long to use the facilities.
We are already trying to fit another weekend in sometime this year and go back there.

Just got back from 3 nights at this campsite. A lovely adult only campsite, very quiet. So quiet I found myself whispering in case I made too much noise!
Toilets and shower facilities very clean, never had to wait even though campsite looked 80% full.
It rained most of our stay, but we found a dog friendly pub in the village - The Galleries Inn - and spent a lovely afternoon there.
Stuck to the 'longer' route into the village, although it took only 10 minutes to get there.
All in all, would go back again.

We recently stayed at this adult only site which is a short walk from the village of Cheddar, having read the other reviews we were pleasantly surprised to find the church clock broken and only the bell ringers on Saturday evening and Sunday morning providing anything noisy, the road is bearable, although saying that I wear ear plugs as my husband and labrador both snore.
The facilities on site are clean and well kept with nice big showers with plenty of room, the shop holds very little but they do sell local eggs, cider and, when in season, strawberries.
The owners are lovely and very helpful as previously mentioned, the site is well kept and the river running through makes it an even more beautiful setting, yes it is next to a church and graveyard, but the high thick set trees hide this on the pitch side.
The drive into cheddar through the gorge is quite hairy but also very beautiful, it's just a shame that you come across the commercial side of the village so abruptly. The ticket to see the caves etc is £15 and is valid for 10 years! We did most of it in 2 days but missed Jacobs ladder due to wet weather and a tired dog so we do have the option of going back. For cheese fans the cheese factory or even just the shop is a must, believe it or not there is only one place in Cheddar that makes and sells cheese and the factory is just that place, lots to taste and lots to buy!
For Sunday lunchers I recommend the Galleries Inn in the village, not much to look at but they do serve up a fabulous Sunday roast. Dogs welcome.
I would definitely return to the campsite and would love to go back and do more exploring in the beautiful countryside.

We've just returned from a 3 night visit to this site and can highly recommend it. It is a small site (more spaces for caravans than for tents) but if you manage to get in, you wont regret it. The facilities were always spotless and piping hot water. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The site was quiet and kept clean. Its in an ideal position, being a 5 min walk from the village itself, which has a lot of choice for eating out if you don't want the bother of cooking. Great walking in the vicinity too. Will be visiting again.

An excellent site. Upon arrival, the owner was very very pleasant and helpful.
The site is nicely laid out, there are some static caravans, there were quite a few tourers and several tents.
The site is for adults only and is therefore very quiet. The facilities were all excellent, no complaints at all.
Cheddar itself is a lovely village, plenty of facilities, few pubs etc, will definitely be returning.
After reading some reviews on here, I had to double check I had got the correct site. We had no problems with hot water, the site was quiet (yes there is the Church Bell in the distance)and the road in to Cheddar Village was certainly not a problem. 10 out of 10.

Just had 2 nights at this quiet adults only site in the middle of Cheddar. Nice sized hard standing motorhome pitches. Friendly owners. Weren't over fussed with the toilet / washroom facilities, especially as they are advertised as 'luxury'. Only 2 showers and 3 toilets in each block (male & female) and hot water was only available between 7am-12noon & 4pm-9pm - very strange?! The toilets always seemed to be out of paper. There was also a separate bathroom, which contained a sink, toilet and bath with shower over. It certainly needed a good clean if not re-decorating. The washing up area was inside a summer house, which also contained very useful information on the local area. The walking from the site was good. You could take your life in your hands and walk into Cheddar village via the main road (where there was a fairly big Budgens supermarket)or opt for the safer / longer route along the river, over the bridge, around by the school and in via the Tesco Express end (open till 11pm most nights!). Cheddar itself is full of pubs / restaurants / takeaways / tearooms and cafes so you'll never be short of food or refreshments! The Riverside Inn did great food and the service was really quick too. A lot of eateries are doggie friendly too, which is something we don't come across often enough in Britain. Dogs are also allowed INSIDE the Gorge & Caves but an adult ticket to do the lot, including the 274 steps up Jacobs Ladder and the open top bus tour was £14 per person. If you're a light sleeper beware of the church bells (the site sits right next to the church & graveyard!). They ring every 15 minutes day & night! Not sure if we'd return as the CC site was right next door and has been updated recently - looked really nice too!

We have just returned from a very nice stay at this site. The weather was wonderful. The site its self was a real find. Well kept etc. There was a little noise from the local football club on Saturday night but this was really not that bad. The toilets and showers were spotless. We found the walk into town was much nicer via the footpath over the river. You didn't come into contact with cars at all. There was a small shop on site that did all the basics and they had a selection of local ciders as well.
All in all a very well kept site and we will be returning here and would have no problems recommending it to friends.

We stayed at this lovely spacious site for a week and had a lovely pitch by the river bank. The owners were happy, chatty people willing to do anything to help out, they gave us ant powder when the flying ants attacked our tent and charged our camera battery up free of charge. The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean and very spacious too, although we only used them one night as we liked soaking in the private bathroom. What a bonus that was! We do have only one downer with this site, which is a shame as I cant imagine this often happens but. We picked this site as it was adults only so we looked forward to the peace and quiet, but we've been on quieter family sites than this! we had a large tent beside ours which was joined by two smaller tents, a total of six youngsters drinking and playing very loud music well into 2am. This happened three nights running making us very tired and fed up. Its meant to be no noise after 11pm so i'm not sure how they got away with it but it did ruin our nights. Like I say i'm sure its not always the case. There was a loud football disco on the sat night which the owner was most sorry about, but it was out of his hands to stop it. The road running by the site can be a bit noisey too, boy racers race around it at all hours of the night. Its the same scary road that you walk on into cheddar. You really do dice with death walking on it. Its a tight blind bend and cars come round so fast you have to dive into the hedge for the sake of your life! But don't let this put you off, it really is a lovely site and we would certainly use it again.
