Ditto OBs Mum comments, it's a hard site to review as everyone's tastes are different.
I like the site as it suits all my needs being only an hour from home. I particularly like the relaxed approach Hurst View have to camping like the open fires, allowing dogs and large groups. So many sites are restrictive. I guess this is one of those sites to keep in your back pocket if you are camping in a group and taking dogs. Please keep your dog's on leads though as so many weren't. Keep an eye on your kids on the play park too as there were a few mishaps and parents were nowhere to be found. A two year old wandered into our tent area who'd lost his mummy! On a site this size common sense prevails!

This campsite is a difficult one to review. Some things it does well, some things not so well and being unable to please all the people all the time it's bound to rub some people up the wrong way.
Things I liked:
1. Everyone met who worked there -
- the man in the shop who sent me away with the things I'd forgotten (washing up stuff *smh*!) even though I didn't have nearly enough cash. - I did return to settle up!
- The ladies at reception who charged my phone for me after our car broke down.
2. The proximity to the coast.
3. The birdsong.
4. The free showers.
I think they could do some things better. It's not that they do them badly but if they did them a bit better the site would be fab.
There are four washing up sinks. I think they could do with more.
The toilet/showers could do with another couple of rounds of cleaning throughout the day. When the cleaner's just been in they are great.
Drinking water needs to be better signposted.
Really large groups could do with being away from the smaller groups/families - there's plenty of room to do that.
They could do with being better at enforcing their own rules. There's a sheet with them on and staff are visible on site 'patrolling' but I saw a few (not loads - don't panic!) dogs wandering round off leads and noise was a bit of a factor on the first night of our stay. I did see the staff having words with someone who was driving too fast so they are keeping an eye out!
The site has a snack bar which does brekkie stuff in morning and burgers etc in the evening. It does what it says on the tin, cooked fresh and good value (I think it might not be open during the week).
The little shop is surprisingly good, doesn't look much from the outside but has lots of bits. They do bike hire.
Reception is good, useful info, drinks, sweets and slush puppies.
Play area is one for slightly older kids 7+.
The site is close to Lymington (I'd say take the bike or the car though). It's about 10mins walk to the sea wall which is great for walking/cycling along - you'll get a map at checkin.
Don't be put off by the reviewer who mentioned the landfill site. It is (or was) there but you'd have to go looking for it. It appears to be in the process of being landscaped and it I hadn't read about it I wouldn't have known it was there.
Overall this site is ok. It could be really good. You're not going to like it if you like well ordered, quiet camping. If you're going with some friends or family or you're pretty chilled out with a live and let live attitude, this could be the one for you. We had a good time overall and I wouldn't rule out going back.

Hurst view is situated near to Lymington - a ideal stop over for the Isle of Wight Ferry. It is a friendly campsite, quite large with some big fixed units. There are 2 fields, one for tents without hookup and one for units with hook up. There are no marked pitches in the fields but there are also some specific hardstanding pitches.
Facilities are good with adequate clean toilets and showers and a small Shop and food takeaway (pizza, chips etc). The site overlooks the Solent (just) and there are some good walks nearby. We only stayed one night, but would have been happy to stay longer.

We were really looking forward to our visit due to the excellent rating the site received. We were, however very disappointed.
I agree the staff are very friendly and helpful and the surrounding countryside and walks from the campsite are great.
Dogs had messed on the field we stayed in, so when my children played they had to dodge piles of dog mess. People had abandoned tents and chairs by the side of the field which were not removed for the whole of our 3 night stay. It had a feeling of no-one really caring what went on.
In the men's showers 2 were not working and they were either luke warm or too hot.
The location is lovely and it could be great - maybe things are more organised in the summer holidays. We will never know as we would not go back.

We visited hurst view at the beginning of April and had a great time. On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful. The campsite is made up of three fields which are nice and flat there are one or two dips so you have to be a bit careful where you pitch if there is rain forecast, or in the morning you could find yourself in the middle of your own little pond.
The toilets and showers are kept very clean and there is plenty of hot water. There can be a bit of a queue in the morning but did'nt have to wait long.
There is also an on site shop which stocks all the essentials and is reasonably priced.
Really nice to be able to have a campfire for keeping wram and roasting marshmallows.
Probably the only gripe I have is the children's play area could do with updating
All in all we had a great stay and we will be going back.

Pleasant flat and open site, in a great location, close to Seawall and shoreline, and close to Pennington /Lymington.
Lots of Birdlife.
Friendly staff on site and toilets / Showers clean and tidy with plenty of Hot water
Several other campers enjoying open fires, which is a rare thing these days on organised sites, but with plenty of open space and being sensible.
Slightly expensive rates, but the location makes it worth it.

PROS -
In low season, loads of space.
Open fires allowed but need to be more controlled.
Close to cycle paths.
Toilets, showers very good.
CONS -
Far to expensive £20 for basic tent pitch in low season, No EHU.
Very noisy due to landscaping on adjacent landfill site, JCBs etc, 7. 30 till 5, 50 meters from tent!
Fire pit damage to field means you have to be careful where you pitch.
Would I return??
Would love to return, location is ideal. BUT needs to be cheaper, wary of using site in high season because unsure on how safe tents would be with the amount of open fires that seem to be allowed.

Visited 03/09-06/09/13 with electric hook up. Clean, spacious and quiet site. Toilet and shower facilities are clean and the showers are overhead, warm and powerful. The relaxed atmosphere of the place, location and no problems with sensible campfires made our stay a great one. From the back of the site a choice of footpaths take you down to the Solent with excellent views of the isle of wight and the needles. Keyhaven is a nice walk away and we spent a happy time sitting on the quayside watching the yacht club members taking out their dingy's for a potter around. Milford on Sea is a short drive or bike ride away and on a warm sunny day is a hidden gem. On arrival at the site you are given a map showing the local area with details of local shops and pubs. Everyone will take something different from the local pubs and there is no point in my giving a personal review of them. The no comment for the White Hart however should not stop you from paying a visit as we did and found nothing to complain about.

Sorry, not my kind of campsite. Good location etc. Toilets were adequate with plenty hot water etc. Childrens playground needs attention, maybe some swings? Unfortunately for us it was very noisy on 2 nights of our 3 night stay, which was stressful for us, spoiled our visit and we couldn't wait to leave; kept awake till 3am because of a group of drunk youngsters who apparently just camped without booking in, as staff were unaware they were on site. Might be an idea to tighten up on security at this site by owners? To the owners credit they did evict the group the next day, so thank you for that. We returned home exhausted due to lack of sleep though. We have been told this is a rare occurrence on this site however. They allow campfires which is lovely, but be aware this is not controlled so lots of ash pits everywhere. Ideally located campsite for Lymington and lots more beautiful places to visit in the area. Finally, we paid £25 per night with EHU; in my opinion too pricey for facilities offered, especially in September. Sorry but we will sadly not return.

Stayed here for the first time at the beginning of August. What a lovely site. Beautiful views and easy access to the walks along the shore. Local pub 'The chequers' very nice, lovely food. On site showers and toilets were always clean and even at peak times there was always hot water and we never had to wait. The whole site was kept very clean and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Very dog and child friendly. Being able to have a camp fire was great, you can buy sacks of wood from reception although if your planning more than a couple of camp fires it is cheaper to bring your own. The electric pitches are popular even though they mainly run along side the main route past the toilets, showers etc. Some noise at night from other over enthusiastic campers, but you get that in most sites and wasn't a big problem. You can hire bikes on site and the little shop sold most of the essentials. All in all a top site and we will definitely be returning.
