Just returned from 2 nights at this great site. As we usually prefer smaller, quieter sites, I was a bit worried after reading the other reviews, but we were going with friends, so thought we'd risk it.

It was the first weekend of our summer holidays and the fields were quite full but we pitched in a corner and were lucky we happened to be far enough away from a few of the bigger, noisier groups.

It was busy but the atmosphere was good and there was just a buzz about the place. On smaller sites I'd be bothered by noise but here it was fine - although some of the singing left a lot to be desired!

The location was great. (Take the advice on the website to come on A35 from Southampton to Lyndhurst on a busy weekend. We sailed through. ) Fields flat. Lovely walks to nature reserve & Solent with great views of IOW right from the site. Direct access to cycle track to Keyhaven, so take bikes (or hire them from site if you can afford it!)

Very friendly welcome.

New toilet / shower blocks were very good. Spotless apart from after the Sunday morning rush on a busy weekend, but not complaining at all. They were a very long way from our far corner of the field though, but we could have chosen to pitch closer.

Great to be allowed camp fires. Don't forget your marshmallows - (Good job shop sells skewers at a v reasonable price!) and beware of the wind!

Food in shop v pricey, but emergency camping equipment v reasonable.

Our kids only went over to the playground once. It was a long way from our pitch and they preferred playing near the tent.

Freezer free to use to for ice blocks, but I was very sad we had our bag of 5 blocks stolen. It's never happened anywhere else but this was the only thing I can complain about - and it's not the site's fault that someone there this weekend didn't know how to enter in the spirit of camping.

We'd definitely go back for the location and laid back atmosphere - but maybe on a quieter weekend, though I suppose there could be rowdy groups at any time.

Our first camping holiday and we couldn't have picked a better site. They have managed to combine a laid back attitude with a well managed site. A warm helpful welcome from Wing was a foretaste of how lovely everyone would be.

The toilet block was spotless; the showers powerful and hot and all constantly cleaned. It is new this year. No extra charges for anything, they refroze all our ice blocks at mo charge. On the last day we asked what time we needed to leave and were told we could go whenever we liked.

We arrived on Thursday and the site was almost empty and very peaceful but filled right up over the weekend, apparantly it was as busy as they ever get. I think another time we would go midweek for a more peaceful break but walking through the site at dusk with all the camp fires burning was magical.

There is a playground in the middle of the first field if you have children and a second field away from it. Lots of walks from the campsite down to the Solent. Lymington is a lovely little town with a great Saturday market.

Stayed 3 nights and wished we could have stayed 3 weeks

A large site - 3 fields (one for families with children and two others which are less noisy). The new toilet/shower and washing up facilities were open and kept well cleaned - impressive. They were v busy over the weekend but despite that no queues for washing up or showers. Flat fields and they allow fires. Only minor quibble - no enforcement of reducing level of music after 10pm which meant that the end of the evening was accompanied by heavy bass instead of the gentle babble of conversation.

Reception very friendly on arrival and on departure. They open a 4th field for the height of the season. Lots of lovely walks around, including to the nearest pub 15 minutes away. Excellent weather helped make this an enjoyable weekend.

Used this site for a one night stop for an early ferry to Isle of Wight. Couldn't have been better (except for torrential rain over night!). Massive fields where you just picked a space to pitch. It is very windy though. Facilities good, new toilet blocks (two) very good. Though busy and a bit of a walk the nearer you get to the Solent. Fantastic Walks East and West along sea wall and beach and a bird watchers paradise. Could have spent a week here easily. Good Fish and Chip Shop a 5 mins car ride away. Many people created fire pits in the evening and a walk around the site was a nice evening treat. Paid Flat £20 for no electric. Very close to Ferry took 10 minutes. Will use again.

Recently visited as part of a group of 8 and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site. Fields are flat and well maintained, showers and toilets good and there is a reasonably priced shop that is open all day and evening. Some people felt there were not enough showers but I didn't have to queue on any of the three days we stayed. There is also a new block being built.

We particularly liked the fact that we were left alone to get on with our stay and not subjected to numerous rules etc. The staff couldn't have been nicer and being allowed a camp fire was also a massive plus.

If there was a downside it would be the wind but this was no problem really - do make sure you take a wind break though

Just stayed 1x night and have to say it is a site I would recommend if you want a laid back, relaxed approach to camping. No restrictive rules just a sensible approach which is refreshing.

Open camp fires - allowed, music before dark - allowed, pitch where you want - allowed, booking for a large family group to pitch together - allowed and most importantly single night stays - allowed.

Currently undergoing a refurbishment of the toilet/shower facilities, there will be 2x blocks running very soon, one was already working, the other being worked on.

It's a large mixed site of statics (residential), touring park, cabins & yurts (didn't see them) and is situated down a quiet lane. The touring fields have access to the marsh conservation area and sea wall, the walks/cycle lanes are easy, flat and well signed.

A pub (The Chequers)is a 15min walk away.

There is a small shop on site and the reception sells logs. We didn't use the washing facilities.

Our reception was welcoming and friendly especially as it was late afternoon on a Sunday.

On the negative side the site was a little untidy around the shower/shop gateway with overflowing rubbish bins and general stuff hanging around, but they may not have had a collection and there is building work going on, so it may be just the time we were there?

All in all, very pleased to have found a site like this and will certainly use it again soon.

I have given this site an overall mark of around 8/10 which I think is fair. We didn't have children with us so haven't marked that but there is a playground, large play area and it's well away from the sea so should be safe enough.

This was our second visit to Hurst View having camped there last year and we enjoyed it every bit as much as the last one.

The showers and toilets are being greatly improved (though are a work in progress at present) but yet again disrespectful campers sometimes use and abuse the facilities.

As I prefer to camp the far end of the fields I take my own toilet anyway as it is a fair old walk to the site facilities from there at 1am!

Excellent location for enjoying the coast and the New Forest and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Lovely walks nearby and you can take the kids crabbing!

We have just spent the weekend at this campsite for our fisrt time camping and I have nothing but good things to say for this site.

We where a small group with 3 adults and 1 child, we stayed in the first area which had a children's play area which is ideal for families as its close enough to keep and eye on the kids while they are playing. One of the main reasons we stayed at this location was that they allow campfires which was also nice and for only £5 for a decent sized bag of firewood we thought this was a good deal.

During our stay the staff where very friendly and helpful, aslo there was a breakfast bar selling breakfast rolls and hot drink which was very reasonably priced and the guy running it was also very helpful. There also was a small shop selling basic supplies and gas for your cookers.

The site is located in a great area with lots of nice trails for hikes and bike rides, also with hurst castle nearby which was a great walk along the sea wall or if you don't feel like walking has a ferry service for a small fee.

We where also lucky enough to turn up just after the brand new toilet/shower block was fitted which was a great size with 4 toilets and 5 showers I think it was with plenty of sinks and hand dryers.

One thing I did really like was the fact that when asking what time we had to vacate the site by on the last day the staff said before midnight which I thought was a nice touch, so no need to rush around to be out before 11am like some other sites advertised.

Me and my friends are looking forward to visiting this place again, and would highly recommend to everyone to say here!

We visited this campsite on the weekend of the Royal Wedding and being a long bank holiday weekend it was very busy. However we found there was plenty of space for our group of tents and there were no queues for toilets or showers at the times I visited them ! For a group of tents we found the site extremely good value for money compared to other sites we have been to.

The toilet and shower facilities are basic but were very clean and functional. The only criticism I would have was that the soap dispensers were empty and there was no means of drying your hands, perhaps not very hygienic but we managed.

The drinking water was supplied by a standpipe which ran straight onto the grass making it very muddy and by the end of the weekend difficult to get to. I think this would be quite an easy thing to rectify and it's one reason why I've only given 5 out of 10 for site facilities.

There is a shop selling very basic provisions, milk bread toys etc but there was also a snack bar where you could get bacon butties in the morning, didn't try it as had brought lots of sausages and bacon to cook of our own but it looked good ! There was a play area slide etc for kids.

The site was quite noisy with music and kids playing, dogs barking and in fact it was quite refreshing that there weren't strict rules about when to be quiet etc. It didn't matter that our baby was yelling at 10 o'clock as there was always a general buzz of noise going on, prob till about midnight although with a 14 month old and 3 year old I was asleep by then ! I actually found that it was better than a super quiet campsite as in those ones when one person does make a noise it disturbs you but here as there was a continual bit of noise you got used to it.

There were 3 fields to camp in and they all looked fairly flat which was great. We didn't manage to get a pitch at the edge where we would have been more sheltered and on one of the nights it was pretty windy and we did feel quite exposed but luckily our tent withstood the brief storm !

Site was next to a landfill site but you wouldn't notice it, no smells, no noise whilst we were there. The location was great, would have loved to have taken our bikes as you could get to Keyhaven, Milford and Lymington really easily.

It's the sort of place you could have spent a week and hardly used your car if you had bikes. We walked to Keyhaven and got the ferry to Hurst Castle one day which was great. Also had a nice meal at the Gunn Inn, Keyhaven and in the Marine cafe, Milford. Visited Lymington on market day, Saturday which was lovely although very very busy !

Drove to Bucklers Hard on the final day and walked to Beaulieu - had to pay for this which seemed a bit much but it was a nice day out - again would have been good for family biking !

We will definitely be going back to this campsite as it had a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, great location and good value for money.

Don't know what all the fuss is about. Stayed here at Easter and had a great time. The loos and showers were temporary as the new ones were still being installed, but were still spotless and had plenty of hot water. Site looks a little strange when first entering but staff are brill and everyone and everything is laid back and chilled out. Huge fields so everyone has plenty of space and loads of room for kids and dogs to run and play. Lymington is a stones throw and everything you need is relatively close but there is no traffic noise or indeed traffic as the site is at the end of a lane. This site is only a handful of miles from my home but will return just to 'chill out'
