We used this site for our first every camping experience in 'Dave', our Dandy Delta trailer tent. Well to say it was muddy was an understatement, there were puddles 10cms deep. Although the people who ran the site were very very nice, they never made any attempt to put chippings or anything down to alleviate the wet. They could do with some hard standings for caravans and trailer tents.
Had it have been a busy Easter the facilities would never have stood up to the site being full. There were only 3 showers and 8 toilets in the ladies, there were also 2 family bathrooms with shower, toilet and basin - fully heated I would add!
The shops on site were ok and as I said the folk were really friendly and helpful. You can walk into Lymington, but it would be about 2 miles, there is a lovely walk to Lymington via the estuary, which is not really signposted so you have to guess the way, but again it is very long. We paid £16 per night for 2 adults with electric, not too bad I guess. All would have been so much better without the mud

A little gem of a campsite tucked away down a country track. Reception helpful and on-site shop a benefit.
5 minute walk to Marshland and Coast with views across to the Isle of White. Numerous cycle tracks and posted footpaths.
Chequers pub 15 min walk away, great atmosphere and made to feel welcome.
Lymington town is a 20 minute walk and has a Tesco, M&S and Waitrose. Market day is Saturday a worth a visit.
The camp site is well positioned but be warned it can be quite windy as its close to the coast line.
The couple of family bathrooms are clean, warm, private and spacious however the main toilet and shower block did leave a lot to be desired, although regularly cleaned these portacabined blocks have seen much better days.
This said, it's a safe and family friendly site, close to everything and allows small campfires which is an added bonus. For its positioning only we would return.

First time here and we found it to be a great place for all our needs, no rules just have fun, great staff and good toilet and showers, washing and drying facilities.
Great place for taking dogs as there are loads of great walks, market in the high street on a Saturday about 15 mins walk and sea walks from camp 5 mins away.
We went to 2 pubs the gun which had great food and was very friendly and the checkers who also did great food and welcomed dogs. If your looking for a nice place to stay solent view is the place for you. Also allowed small camp fires which was a really nice touch at night.

This was my first visit to this site and right off from the bat I felt welcomed, the staff there were just fab. I’d forgotten my hook up cable and straight away one of the staff lent me one. The site is big and spacious and had a real feeling of freedom to it. The shower block is basic but has all you need even a family room, but the crown on the cake for me was that your allowed to have an open fire, so we made the best of that and had bangers & bacon cooked on an open fire, now that’s real camping for you.
I would recommend this site to anyone that just wants to be left alone and camp.

Staff at Hurst view were very friendly and helpful especially as we got stuck as there were no hard standings and had to be towed out by the owners due to the pitch being a little boggy. Lovely location by the Solent and the showers/toilets were clean and tidy. We used the family shower room which was lovely and warm and had a really good shower in it.
£16 per night with hook up is pretty reasonable given the location. Anyone staying here should walk to the Chequers Pub - excellent home cooked food here and a great atmosphere - it's well worth the effort but take a torch with you for the return journey. For a slightly longer walk head into Lymington - they have a great market in the main town centre on Saturday.
If you want somewhere that's peaceful and quiet then I can recommend Hurst View

For me personally as I am a photographer, this site was perfect, on my visit I found it was quiet and peaceful, log fires allowed, site clean and tidy, showers / toilets clean, a small children's play area, nature reserve at the back of site an easy pleasant walk, watch the boats go by to and from the isle of wight,
I managed the walk to the chequers, a very pleasant pub worth the walk and the stagger back, less than ten minutes drive to the new forest, for me a perfect base to pursue my passion of photography ( filled me boots )
Staff on site, very friendly and helpful, laid back approach, no rush to get you off site, I can highly recommend it, I will definitely be a regular visitor to this place 31st October weekend sounds good !

We have just been to Hurst View for the weekend and I have to say what a brilliant surprise. It was a last minute thing on the Friday morning and we had read some of the reviews (below) and thought we would give it ago, they seemed very friendly on the phone and it was £16 a night for a campervan so we went for it. Ok so the toilets are not super clean and are a little bit shabby round the edges, but this is real camping and the whole reason why we bought our campervan. We have fallen into the trap of always having electric hook, and going to very nice sites which are very cramped but no more, this is what we have been looking for! We drove in to the field, parked up and had plenty of space, nearest van was 30 metres.
Great site, great people, loads of room, nature reserve at the end of the field with a beautiful walk down to the sea, nice 20 minute walk to a great pub, New Forest on the doorstep and best of all the log fires. We grabbed some wood from the office for £5 and sat under the stars eating BBQ and listening to everyone laughing and having fun.
We will be back for the firework party on 31st Oct, can't wait. We are a family of 4 with 2 small children and so glad we did something different which has opened up a whole new world for us.

Lovely relaxed site - pitch up where you want, leave when you want etc Was told could come as late as I wanted to, 'pitch up and pay in the morning'. Toilet block fine while I was there.
Definite bonus is the site's policy with open fires, which makes a camping trip special! We went for a walk to Milford (around an hour's walk) and returned when it was dark - what a lovely site all those camp fires made!
Will definitely be revisiting.

Went with my family for a 3 night stay over the bank holiday weekend. I thought the site was lovely, there was a pretty area with static caravans, each with its own garden area, and terraces, obviously all well cared for. The touring area was large, split into several level fields with the grass kept short. You could camp where you liked and space was not a problem, even though the site was fully booked we did not feel cramped, in fact the space in front of our pitch was large enough for ball games, kite flying etc. You paid for your pitch, there were 7 of us, with a large tent, pup tent, 3 cars and a dog, total cost was £120, ( £40 a night ) I thought this was very reasonable, we could even have set up a gazebo had we got one and not paid a penny extra. I really liked this aspect. There were 2 small site shops which sold essential camping stuff and toys. The owners were fantastic, the kids were even offered a ride on the quad bike which the owner used to travel round the site. Other special facilities were the nature reserve, within a short walk. I saw birds there which I have never seen before. Also open fires were allowed and to my mind this makes a camping holiday special, you could purchase wood from either of the shops for £5 a large bag, we spent more on these than we normally would for central heating at home. Oh well it was worth it. The toilet/shower facilities were kept as clean as possible, bearing in mind the amount of people using them. The water wasn't always hot but I would guess that during a normal weekend it would be more than adequate. There is a small play park, but our kids made their own swing from a length of rope they found slung over a tree. One thing which I think would have improved things would be more standpipes for water scattered around the various sites. As it was we had to trek to the washing up area for our water. A small point I know. The most marvellous thing about the weekend was the location. The new forest being on the doorstep, with the pretty town of Lymington being the closest town. All in all a very pleasant weekend, and one of the nicest sites (for the money) that I have been to. One other thing, there was no rush for us to pay for our pitch, they allowed us to set up first, and also no pressure to leave early on the day of departure, allowing us extra time to explore the New Forest had we wished to. Would definitely recommend this site to anybody.

I went to this camp site over the Bank Holiday and was very disappointed. The B/H charge was £25 per night for a tent. Initially I was pleased to be able to book as I was quite late, but then realised after I arrived that there was no end to the number of tents that this site would allow in to make money. I wouldn't mind paying the high price but the facilities at this site are very poor. There are only 3 showers for women and there was a queue for much of the time that we were there, and for many people the showers were cold when they got in. Nowhere inside to hang any clothes or towels up, and a cursory clean which was not keeping up with the volume. The site is well situated down a long lane which means it is quiet and does not suffer from road noise, and is close to lots of good places to visit. But stop piling them in and get the facilities sorted and this could be a very nice site.
