We visited this site during the last weekend in September after reading good reviews about it on this website. The site itself is out of the way but easily accessible. Close to the town of Lymington which has great shops and an excellent market on Saturdays. Managed to get a takeaway to deliver to the site to which was a bonus as we arrived very late on the Friday and were starving once we had put up our tent!
The site's location is great, the nature reserve is wonderful and peaceful, except for the geese that flew over the campsite at least a dozen times a day, they were amazing to watch!
When we arrived the owners were very friendly and welcoming, there is a section of static homes which looked permanent rather than holiday homes. There looked really lovely and gave the site a real homely feel. There was plenty of space for us to pitch up our tent, there were three fields that were in use over the weekend. A tent had been pitched up on the dirt track which caused a lot of problems for cars as they drove into the field and then 'lost' the track! The owners didn't do anything about this so obviously they didn't see it as a problem. The facilities on the site were very poor, the toilet and showers were very dated and dirty. Cobwebs hung everywhere and the floor was wet. It was a real disappointment especially when you consider how long it would take just to clean the cobwebs away.
Would not revisit and would not recommend, purely because of the toilet block and the noisy campers.

Nice location. Friendly owner, relaxed campsite, inexpensive (read on, then you know why). Camp fires at night are fun. Downside, Facilities are lacking, ageing toilet block, poor standards of cleanliness. Water constantly present on toilet block floor. Often no hot water available during busy periods, only 2 washing up sinks for a large campsite - inadequate sums it up. Would not recommend or visit again.

Good campsite. Big grassy pitches - really nice ground and good for hte kids/dogs!
Really relaxed - we had a fire every evening - no one bothered us. Loads of people there and yet no noise and not cramped!
Toilet blocks were ok. Showers had good power but a little on the cold side! first time I have seen family shower room - good idea. Bonus hair dryer in the ladies - and an electrical socket in the laundry room if you wanted it.
Really easy to find. 5 minute drive to shops. Walking distance to pubs and beautiful coastal walk where you can see the Isle of White.
We had a fab weekend - and arrived late friday night so pitched in the dark!

We had a lovely week at Hurst View. The campsite itself is very basic, but great location. 10 min drive into the New Forest, 10 min bike ride to the beach. Strongly recommend taking bikes. You can buy a crabbing line from the little shop on site we had great fun with our daughter every day going to the beach and stopping off at the pub for lunch. Would recommend this site for dog walkers as most of the pubs welcome dogs. The staff on the site were so helpful and we will be returning again.

Will I stay there again? Yes. Is it the best campsite in the World? No.
Trying to find a campsite that would allow a one day booking at short notice in Dorset/Hamshire was becoming a fruitless search. Minimum 5 nights at some site. I visit was saved bu Hurst View: A laid back, relaxed, and pretty basic campsite.
No maximum pitches here. Find your own space anywhere within the 3 large fields.
The owner is very relaxed. Charged me for a 2 man tent even though it was a family tent because there was just me and my young son. And what time must I leave the next day? He wasn't bothered. 'Up to midnight', he joked.
The shower blocks were packed in the morning. But I discovered 2 family bathrooms around the corner, which have a toilet, basin and shower in each. It was worth waiting there.
Lots of campers had small camp fires during the late evening. It looked rather pretty actually.
The wheelie bins were over flowing and it was a wasp heaven!
Basic and Friendly site.

Large site with plenty of places to camp around outsides of the 3 large fields. Space is left in the middle of the fields so you don't feel boxed in by other tents. Wind isn't too bad if you camp near edge.
Helpful staff on site. Your allowed your own fire near your tent and reception sell bags of wood for £4, very handy and not too expensive. Staff leave you alone to enjoy your holiday, but are around if needed. Small shop on site too.
Toilets are definitely the worst thing about the site. They are old porta cabins containing toilets and very small showers cubicals. Staff do keep them clean but they still do not feel very nice to use and floors are often wet.
Over the back of the site there are lovely walks over the old-salt marshes and to the coast that overlooks Isle of White, however not a beach.
Conveniently located site, only a quick drive to Lymington town center (where there are good shops, Waitrows, tescos metro), Brockenhurst, Milford on Sea or even Bournemouth.
I would use the camp site again, however wish they would invest in better toilet / shower facilities.

Visited this campsite as a first time camper with other half, two kids and two dogs. Very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely go again.
Family bathrooms on site were excellent, other toilets and showers basic but were cleaned twice a day. Site was also tidied daily.
We setup at bottom of far field by the dog walk. Good walk and cycle track to Keyhaven. There is also a nature reserve which you can walk through and access a coastal walk (not a beach) where you can see Hurst castle and the Needles.
Only downside is that they allowed groups of youngsters.
Ideal for what we wanted and as I said before would go again.

Good points: This campsite is fairly large. Spread over 3 fields for tents and we didn't see what the size was for static caravans but it was a nice size. Dogs allowed on leads with great walks out to the salt marshes overlooking the Isle of Wight. If you're a twitcher - take binoculars, the wildlife is incredible. Enough toilets and 3 showers in each mens/ladies loos. 2 Family Bathrooms. Extra porta-loo-type-toilets. Small shop which sells a few bits, it's also reception. Not really much noise from other campers. Large family groups there, but weren't a problem. Tidy place. Well looked after.
Bad points: Showers and loos aren't immaculate, so if you are a clean freak, be warned. Cleaner was in every day but did a pretty lame job - mop was sopping wet and left it like an ice rink, though it was clean. Shower cubicles are tiny as are loos, doors open outwards. Nevertheless, there are toilets!
This campsite being situated where it is, over the solent, is very windy. You have been warned! If you are fine with a breeze, then it's great but it is gusty, and getting the tent up can be challenging, as can lighting a campfire. (as we found out!)
We stayed for 3 days 2 nights here. I enjoyed my stay here, even though it was windy, I would probably go back again as it wasn't too expensive and they didn't charge for extra persons or to have a wee etc.

Headed for this site having read many reviews here, and now feel less confident about depending on other reviewers again!
The field itself is fine, big, no trees to camp by though which is a shame. You couldn't see the sea which was disappointing. Would be singing its praises somewhat, if it weren't for the truly terrible toilet blocks. There was water constantly on the floors, there were 3 showers in the girl's block and one was completely uninhabitable with clogged up drains and the other two were cramped, with broken taps, cold water and generally lacking in cleanliness. I didn't let my children go near them, and my husband didn't shower for the weekend - so the men's were bad too!
The children's play area was ok, but for the discarded crisp packets etc. The bins were so overflowing it looked like a health hazard.
One bonus of the site is that they allowed fires, which was fun for the kids. The guy who seemed to run the site even came round very late dowsing the fires down, which we were impressed with.
The site feels off the beaten track, but you're actually quite close (by car) to lots of shops etc. A wonderful pub in very close walking distance is a huge plus. Would thoroughly recommend Lymington quay for crabbing. It seemed a charming place generally.
If toilet blocks aren't important to you, then go for it!

Stayed at this site for 4 nights and had a great time. We were lucky and got EHU £20 per night inclusive no extra charges at all on this site! Saw Wing helping a lady put her tent up (in strong winds) when we arrived that really was impressive service!
Lovely walks and views of the Needles. Downside to this is no protection from the wind. When wind dropped perfect site with helpful staff. And the bonus of camp fires with marshmallows to toast! Toilets/showers could be better but at least clean and the rest of the site more than compensated for this.
Oh and free wifi so teenage daughter very happy !
