We stayed over the October half-term with our children great site with no restriction on space, modern facilities hot showers, great walks, nice surroundings lots of wildlife to see. Although I have to say we feel the site is not suitable for children due to one of the site residents thrashing his quad bike around the site well over the 10 mph speed limit several times a day on a daily basis. Such a shame as we like to give our children freedom when on holiday.

We took advantage of the fabulous hot 1st weekend in October and turned up at Hurst View campsite to stay for one night. Plenty of room for our group of 4 families. £14 per tent so very reasonable price.

After our experience of a really noisy and disappointing campsite last weekend, this was a wonderful surprise. Very rural position, definitely no road noise. Lots of patches where people had had open fires so needed to pitch around these. So unusual to be able to have an open fire, we took advantage and had a lovely warm evening with marshmallows.

Lovely walk to the shore, children didn't moan too much as lots of birds and nature to see and blackberries to pick on the way. Sea was a bit grim looking with lots of sludge but kids still went in. Crabbing off the pontoon was a huge hit.

Not much of a beach as such, stony but this didn't deflect on our fun. It really is a beautiful place, with the boats to look at and you felt you could almost touch the Isle of Wight.

Loos/showers clean. Small play area which kids liked. Will definitely bring bikes next time (you can hire them on site, and didn't appear to be expensive)

On arrival we were met with a friendly warm welcome and this continued throughout the week. Nothing was too much for any off the staff. We were shown where to pitch as we were having ehu.

Whilst we were busy pitching and setting up, the children investigated the play equipment.

The toilets/showers were kept constantly cleaned by one lady. Gosh she was so busy but at the same time, very helpful. Showers always hot.

The campsite is set in a wonderful area, plenty of walking / cycling / crabbing. There are a couple of pubs fairly nearby and lymington shops not too far off. Hurst castle is worth a visit with its amazing spit.

Being allowed campfires was a bonus and magical. Get the marshmellows out. You can hire cycles on site at very reasonable prices, whether it be for a day, half a day or just a few hours.

There is a shop on site, a little pricey but hey, you are on holiday. Also sold bacon rolls in the morning.

We are hoping to return again next year for a week. The only reason we have not marked it 10/10 is the lack of entertainment but then again not everyone wants entertainment when camping.

On the whole, very enjoyable.

Large couple of fields not kept well. Very tired and run down and when we arrived in September first week, all facilities like the shop were shut. Very scruffy looking with closed shutters and an end of season dull atmosphere, diggers on site and a general feel of a travellers camp site.

Loos and showers not cleaned more than once roughly in 3 days, muddy floors, hair in the showers and men walking into the ladies showers. For the fairly high price a very low standard and quite a depressing place and would not recommend at all.

Have stayed in certified locations for half the tariff and double the standards. It appears a lack of life and zeal in the place overall. Holes in the entrance road, holes in the grass and much damage from fires which is a nice idea but could be done in a more protective way for the ground/environment and the aesthetics.

Chemical toilet area dirty and full of rubbish with a broken wall around it. It is sad when this happens to a site and may require a new lease of life before it can bring itself anywhere near most campsites these days.

One great thing, free wi-fi if near enough to the router. Not worth it though, rather have the site clean and attractive and with an active energy about it.

Very windy here, you can see the Needles and the walks would be excellent but they are full of dog excreta.

Have just returned from a weeks trip to Hurst view. We are a large family of six and all the children are now adults! We chose this campsite because of the friendliness and welcoming manner of the reception staff when I called to book and also the fact that this is one of the few campsites that allow camp fires.

Hurst view was busy and vibrant full of families and large groups of campers as well as smaller tents. We camped in the first field for tents only and pitched where we wanted ( no regime, no over strict rules and no restriction on space)

The toilet and washing facilities were excellent, clean, spacious and hot water for showers whatever time of day.

It was a busy week but we never felt overcrowded and the facilities coped very well. The shop was well stocked and fire wood always available to buy.

Beautiful views and a relaxed attitude to camping made this a great place for our large and lively family to sit around the campfire at night, chatting and chilling without fear of being frowned on for making too much noise! Having said that, the camp settled down by around 11 and was quiet and peaceful till morning.

There are lots of things to do in the area, the trip to Portsmouth is well worth it and Beaulieu National Motor Museum is very good value.

But the beauty of the place is just to sit, chat and enjoy the atmosphere of this friendly spacious site, with a wander to the nearby pub for good food and the odd stroll over the field to view the solent in it's evening glory! proper relaxed camping -

A highly recommended site. (take a wind break! you will need it)

Overall I quite liked this campsite, the plus points being you can camp where you like, the relaxed attitude on the site and the non-restriction of campfires and facilities were good and clean.

The negative points and the first is a big negative point (to extent where I will probably not be returning for this reason again), the entire campsite is situated next to a landfill site meaning most days from dawn to dusk there is a constant noise from earth shifting vehicles and a very slight whiff of decaying rubbish from time to time.

I also found that the local on-site shop had sporadic opening times which made it was hit or miss as to whether it would be open or not and I also felt the whole site had a slightly “shabby” feel to it.

I chose to stay at this campsite based on the good reviews however had not seen some of the older reviews pointing out the location of the site being next to a landfill.

Upon arrival I was greeted by friendly check in process and directed to the camping fields where I decided to set up camp in the furthest field along the hedge line, however whilst setting up the tent a large earth shifting vehicle appeared from nowhere directly behind the hedge and caused me to rethink my position.

I moved to the opposite side of the campsite in the hope that I would not be able to hear the vehicles but still the noise from the vehicles were still obvious throughout my stay.

That said I still had a very enjoyable 3 night stay with my wife and 2 children and would still recommend the site with a word of caution on the above. I felt that the nightly rate was a bit steep for camping at £25. 00 per night but then this seemed to be the going rate for the area.

This campsite has good and bad - first the good: Location-wise it's great, just south of Lymington town centre and views of the Isle of Wight.

You feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, particularly after driving down the lane and beginning to think you must have taken the wrong turn!

The owners are great and very laid back - no issues there. The tent field we used (left hand one) is enormous and there was plenty of room for our 7-family party, multiple games of cricket, lots of kite flying and bike riding with loads of room to spare even on an August weekend.

The down side? Well that's the facilities on site. The new washrooms are very smart and they are kept clean which is great. It's just they need about twice as many of them. The gents consists of 8 showers, 10 basins, 2 urinals and 6 toilets. There were queues well in to the morning for both ladies and gents. At other sites I have seen remote composting toilets away from the main blocks, which relieve the pressure on the main facilities.

There is only a small number of washing up sinks as well. Although this was a pain at times it didn't spoil our weekend.

Not the prettiest campsite either - some of the static caravans look a bit grotty and the site shop looks uninviting with its grills across the windows. There are very few trees which would break up the monotony of the fields, slow the wind and offer a little more privacy.

Judge the campsite shop prices for yourself - normal size can of Heinz Beans: £ 1. 10.

Showers are free, our tent field had water points and electric hook ups around the edge.

We spent a lovely day on Mudeford Beach, not far away with some great crabbing and calm seas. And Lymington itself is a pleasant place to visit.

We have just come back from 2 nights camping at Hurst View campsite, at the height of the school summer holidays.

The campsite is situated in a really convenient location, it is not too rural to be away from the rest of the world and be completely isolated, yet it is rural enough to be have pleasant countryside around the campsite. Although it's a bit tricky to see the Solent water itself from the campsite, Isle of Wight ferries are clearly visible and take a short walk and you will see some more details of the Isle of Wight and a field with cows and a couple of horses. The nearest supermarket is Waitrose, although there is a shop on site for the bare food essentials and other items like basic camping equipment and shower products. The prices within the shop for the essentials are really not bad considering the convenient location. They also sell tea/coffee.

In terms of things to do in the area, Bournemouth is worth visiting but is quite a slow journey with all the holiday traffic - don't let this put you off too much as the beaches are stunning. We also visited the Splashdown water park which made for a very enjoyable day out.

Hurst View was VERY busy when we stayed and a majority of people were families. However, do not let this put you off if you want a quieter break, unless of course you do really want a peace and quiet and nothing else. We stayed on the field behind where the toilet block is (the first one you see when you immediately enter) and as we were a couple, we were recommended this was the best spot by the friendly owner/receptionist. Although the campsite was noisy, you didn't really notice it and it sort of became a background muffle and nothing too intrusive. We initially thought the noise would continue all evening, but it really didn't, with the noise becoming quiet around 10pm and when I woke up in the night, the campsite was eerily silent, which was strange considering how busy it had been during the day.

Despite the chaos of the school holidays, I found camping here a good experience. The staff in the reception area were extremely polite, friendly and helpful, considering they must have been rushed off their feet. The people who worked in the shop were also very polite, and I feel this is what sets this campsite apart from some of the others I have visited.

My only minor criticism is that although the new toilets are very clean and are of exceptional standard, it must have been a difficult task to prevent the floor from becoming slightly muddy and grassy, and this was just down to the increased amount of people on the campsite and not necessarily poor standards of hygiene, and is something that would easily be rectified by perhaps installing somewhere for people to wipe their feet on entrance/exit to the toilets. Apart from that, the toilet facilities are some of the best I have come across. The other facilities are excellent, as I have mentioned a small shop, and there is a fridge freezer area. There is drinking water situated all around the campsite. All in all, the facilities are extremely high rated in my opinion.

Just one reminder, make sure you take citronella candles/insect repellent in the evening as there did seem to be a lot of flies around - this may have been to do with the very sunny weather we were experiencing at the time!

An excellent, well run and well organised campsite and value for money as the showers and hot water are all completely free. I would happily visit here again. But perhaps at a quieter time!

Just spent 2 nights here. Site is huge and made up of 3 pitches. You can pitch where you like and there is a small shop where you can buy ice, etc, a hut that is open from 7am-11am selling breakfast baps and tea and coffee.

Toilets and showers were spotless at all times even thought the site was busy during our stay due to it being the school hols. Washing up facilities were adequate too with plenty of hot water.

We booked here as it's the only site by the New Forest which allows campfires. Reception sells logs at 5. 00 per bag and you can also buy them at the local Shell garage along with kindling.

We enjoyed our stay and would like to go back but for longer and not during the school hols.

We arrived to a not particularly friendly welcome and were told we could pitch where we liked (we found out after that there is an adults only field which we did end up in but it would have been nice to have to told this).

This is the first site we have been to where the pitches are not marked, it seemed a little strange to just pitch anywhere. We found a spot against the hedge and our friends pitched in front of us. There was lots of space as the centre of the field was hardly used.

There were some portable toilets (very basic) in our field or the main toilets and showers in the adjacent field (there were long queues for the showers in the mornings), these were clean and modern.

This campsite allows open fires and no restrictions on where you can have them, meaning that there are ash pits everywhere, sometimes where you want to pitch.

Quite a few larger groups were staying which were noisy into the night. There was a lot of noise of children playing in the field next door.

No problems with the dog. Great market in Lymington on Saturday.

An expensive site for what it is.
