Site open and and plenty of space. Toilets and showers well maintained, clean and plenty of hot water. Playground for the kids could do with a little TLC.
Local pub within walking distance. Great for walks or cycling as there a good links to the harbour.
Great having open fires in the evening, with a large bag of fire wood for a fiver. Great site will be back. Staff all pleasant and very friendly always on hand to help.

Stayed here over the Easter weekend. Perfect location: really close to New Forest without the obscene prices that other campsites charge. Indeed, this is one of the best value campsites we've stayed at since there was only two of us and a tiny tent!
The weather had been horrendous in the run up to Easter and some of the site was a little waterlogged, but these areas were fenced off.
We were given a friendly welcome (despite arriving much later than we had hoped!) and shown to a gravel and grass pitch. This was perfect as we could position the van on the gravel but still pitch the awning on soft ground (nice for feet too!)
Toilets and showers were fab - lovely and clean and warm (if you remember Easter weekend was a bit brrrr to say the least!) Childrens play area was good and the kids made good use of it. Nice touch was being able to buy logs from the little shop and have a fire in the evenings. Lovely!
There was a little snack shack that opened over the weekend selling bacon butties etc which smelt delicious, and also seemed to be a portacabin that sold beach/holiday essentials.
Didn't get a chance to go to the pub but cycled around the nearby bird reserve which was great and only a few mins away on very safe lanes.
There did seem to be some seasonal pitches or perhaps they were local contract workers? Not an issue to us though.
All in all, this is one that we will return to. It's nothing flash but has everything we like: friendly and helpful owners, relaxed and easy attitude, clean facilities, good play area, able to cycle on site. A winner for us

4th May 2013, my wife and I took off at last minute notice (booking a day or 2 before), we were so lucky to get a pitch as the place soon filled up.
No EHU in the field where we pitched but no big issues (EHU is available in other areas of their site though!). Toilet, washing facilities were fabulous. Great walks all around, and Chequers Inn pub certainly din't disappoint (recommend the slow roast pork belly by the way). Really enjoyed our stay and the people running the site were friendly, helpful and in-obtrusive when not needed.
Flat level fields, nearby to where we pitched was evidence of soggy ground, but this was end of April, beginning of May, and so far 2013 UK Weather has been lousy, there's nothing else to expect.
Reception also have nice touch, by issuing you with a laminated map of the area, very good tip for other sites to adopt perhaps.
We will keep this saved to our Virtual Brochure for future use. 8 or 9 out of 10.

Went here for the last outing of the year. Plenty of room to pitch and pretty quiet at this time of the year. We chose this site as it is one of the few that permit campfires, essential as the evenings were drawing in & getting a bit chilly. Facilities were good, clean & well maintained. Only gripe was that our pitch was a bit exposed to the wind but only to be expected at this time of year. The site is well placed to explore the surrounding area. Had a bit of overnight rain before we left which caused a bit of wheel slip but a few willing hands soon had us back on track. Staff were friendly & welcoming & useful being able to buy a few bits & bobs without having to go offsite. Overall a good site to be recommended.

Despite the weather it was an enjoyable stay, which we intend to repeat in the spring (hopefully in drier weather)
The site is a great base for walking & cycling along the solent way and for twitchers (amateurs or otherwise).
The shower blocks are permanently cleaned and have enough showers & toilets to go around with plenty of hot water.
There are two very good pubs within walking distance, the Chequers (very good food)& the Gun, both are on the list to visit on our return.
Staff were very helpful especially getting everyone set up despite half their grounds being waterlogged. Very enjoyable

This is a big site, 3 big fields with lots of space for campers. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the toilets and showers even though it was very busy at the time we visited. Staff are friendly and welcoming. We do like the idea of having an open fire which was one of the things that made us choose this site, you can buy logs from the reception or wait till the van comes around, usuually late afternoon. The walk to the local, The Chequers, only takes about 15mins and it is a nice pub with some decent ales. We will be going back.

I booked this site online and got great customer service from the moment I enquired right through to the end of our stay, excellent people. I booked it as a stopover before catching the ferry to the Isle of Wight but wished we could have stayed longer. After a long drive from Bristol me plus 3 kids were greeted by friendly staff who told us to choose where ever we wanted to pitch up and recommended the hedged perimeter as it was very windy. Delighted with the site, very open and friendly.
Little shop at the entrance sold basics plus fire wood, kindling and marshmallows. The bigger shop near the toilets sold basic camping stuff like pegs plus other bits you might have forgotten to bring. Also small toys, sweets and a selection of groceries. There was also a breakfast van but it didn't open the morning we were there eve though the sign said it should have done.
Toilets and showers were very clean and plenty of them. Showers for unlimited and free of charge which is always welcome!
Children's playground was fantastic with plenty for all age groups, once again, wished we could have stayed longer to really take advantage of it all.
On arrival we were given a map which showed a gate out of the site through which you could take a long but enjoyable stroll to a nearby harbour. The site itself has views across to the Isle of Wight too.
We bought wood and kindling, big bags of each at ok prices, and had a lovely camp fire to cook our sausages on and marshmallows for dessert. I wish more sites allowed fires as this is the highlight for us whenever we camp.
Sad to leave but had to catch our afternoon ferry and this site was a perfect stopover. Definitely returning, already looking at booking again for a stopover to Isle of Wight this summer but will book two nights this time and maybe a stopover on the way back too.
Highly recommend this site, one for all the family.

Just got back from a lovely bankholiday weekend at hurstview. Have stayed here a few yrs ago and enjoyed our stay but it was much better this time. We pitched our tent just behind the shower blocks in outer field. Was sheltered from the wind a bit better there.
The new shower and toilet facilities are a lot better, nice and hot and clean, used the family room mostly as have a 2 yr old and must say it was very nice.
Being able to have open fires in the evening is lovely kids love cooking marshmallows and being warm, sell everything in the shop for fires.
We took our 9mth old border collie and she loved it, shame some don't keep there dogs tied up as kept getting stray dogs in tent but was not too bad.
All in all a lovely time was had by all, which is hard for a group of 4 adults and 7 kids.
Will definitely be back, hopefully soon before weather turns really bad.

Well, what a lovely surprise. We have just returned from a fantastic week at Hurst View, and will definitely be returning in the future.
We took an Outwell Hartford XL tent with front canopy extension (so big tent!) and before we got there I was worried whether we'd have enough space. However, when the very friendly and helpful Jo showed us to our pitch, we had bags of room. She even offered us an extension for the electric hook-up so we could reach the powerpoint.
We were on the large field behind the toilet/shower block and couldn't believe how much room there was. We liked this field, as it was much quieter than the main field with the playground in, and it meant our kids had extra space to explore.
So. The good points: Spacious, helpful receptionist (Jo), washing up facilities, toilets/free showers - power shower was great, plus the family bathroom (larger shower + toilet) meant it was easier with little ones, very good value for money at £25 per night, which in August is very cheap), location (just outside Lymington - lovely town) and many walks and bike rides to do on your doorstep), plus very close to the Isle of Wight Ferry crossing which we did for a day.
The other great thing about this campsite is that they let you have open fires at your pitch, which everyone seems to do, and the kids loved toasting marshmallows on the fire (they even sell logs in the shop).
There is also a shop on site selling most of the essentials, if a little pricey, and also bike hire.
And the bad points: none - we've scratched our heads and honestly can't think of any!
Thank you for a fantastic week, and you can be sure we will be back again some time in the future.

Yet another fantastic stay, we were a group of 4 families (13 kids, 7 yrs - 8 months). Wonderful to enjoy the sunshine did some great bike rides, visited Hurst Castle which everyone loved.
The kids enjoy the play area, watching the horses and general having such free range to wonder.
The showers were at times rather busy but not to bad.
Only down side was that only 1 of the 2 family bathrooms was available and due to our kids ages this makes showering so much harder.
Love being able to pitch wherever and to use so much space as we sure need it!
Will hopefully all be back again this year sometime soon.
