We chose this site after reading mostly positive reviews and the fact that we could see a photo of a decent looking shower block.
On arrival we were warmly greeted at reception and the rules of the site were informally explained. We left a £10 deposit in exchange for a swipe card which is used to access and exit the site via a security barrier.
The weather was not too good and the receptionist advised us to pitch on 'Hebog View' which was a little higher up than some of the other fields and the ground would be better. I was grateful for the advice and sure enough the ground was much drier than some of the lower fields.
We had a large choice of pitches and the ground was very even on all. We pitched in gale force winds which was fun and I could not help thinking that we were a bit exposed being higher up but there are plenty of walls and bushes that other tents were using as windbreaks. The ground was soft but underneath can be a bit rocky which does not do the tent pegs any good!
We were very impressed with the facilities. The main block which was always immaculately clean had 2 male and 2 female showers. The male block had 2 toilets and 3 urinals with the showers at the end. Not too sure about the female block, however my partner did say that there was only one hairdryer (same as the male's) which overheated on occasion and caused some annoyance.
Outside there were several pot wash sinks (Covered) and several unisex toilets for use after 10pm when the showers are locked. There is also a laundry with a table of left over items such as pots, poles, pegs e.T.C. That anyone can use, a freezer which was not very cold and a payphone.
There was also another area near the barn with 2 male and 2 female porta-showers which were ok but not as nice as the main block and several unisex toilets in a breeze block building. These again were ok, but not if you have a phobia of spiders! Here there was a porta-pot-wash which was very good (but was also locked at 10pm along wit the porta-showers) and 2 outdoor sinks (uncovered).
The site is in beautiful surroundings and is so peaceful and serene. It is absolutely ideal for couples on retreat and hikers looking to conquer Snowdon. The information board at the main block has an excellent weather forecast which is constantly updated to show temp, rain, wind-speed, pressure, visibility e.T.C. Very good for judging the best day for an ascent.
On our first night we battled exceptionally strong winds and several tents including ours were damaged. We snapped 2 poles on the front porch. I went to reception to ask where would be the best place to get replacements and I was re-directed to the barn which turned out to be an Aladdin’s Cave of tent spares! Here I found all the poles I needed in order to make the tent as good as new! The owner was extremely helpful. He had just helped an elderly couple remove their awning which was ruined but then offered to help me cut and thread the new poles. I was happy to do this myself and let him carry on helping others.
Overall we were extremely impressed with this site. The facilities are immaculately kept and the staff could not do more to help. The choice of pitches is excellent and we never had to queue to use any of the facilities. We would definitely recommend it to others.

A good site, we only live 30mins away and we have stayed here numerous times just myself and my husband. We enjoy the peace and quiet hence if we were lucky to have a weekend without our children we used to head here.
Unfortunately we probably won't be returning anytime soon, we just felt a little uncomfortable last time. Whilst the staff on the gate can be a little abrupt we tended to think it was because they just wanted to make sure everyone knows the rules. However, they came across as pretty unfriendly the last time we visited.
It is also quite expensive.
Be warned too that it seems to be impossible to get food in Beddgelert after approx 8-8.30pm. This was on a Friday at the start of the season.
Obviously not the campsites fault but worth mentioning this here in case you have travelled far, get stuck in traffic and want something to eat.
On a positive note, the site is very close to Beddgelert and is a lovely walk (10mins) to the village along the river. The rules are well defined and everyone sticks to them, meaning the site remains quiet and peaceful.
There are good walking routes from the site, I can recommend a walk along the river up Mynydd Sygyn / Cym Bychan. Its a long walk and quite long ascent but wonderful views at the top.

Spent one night at this site while touring Snowdonia. The surrounding countryside is stunning, and you can access many great walking trails right from the site. It's a 10 minute walk into the village of Beddgelert, which has a couple of places to eat and a shop.
Facilities on site are excellent and very modern and there are hundreds of pitches, but, despite the large numbers of people on site, the facilities held out well.
A little bit on the pricey side at over £20 a night for 2 people in a camper van, but it's worth paying for the location.

Stayed here for 2 nights in our tourer. Beautiful setting. Toilet blocks and showers are spotless. Site is very clean and peaceful - the no noise rule is enforced by the management.
Beddgelert is lovely little village - Ice cream shop is definitely worth a visit (or 3!). A few pubs and small shops (although these are quite pricey).
Lovely walk down the river to see Gelert's Grave and statue.
We had 2 young children with us and although there is no play area, they loved riding their bikes around the site, which is very safe, and also playing on the tree swings rigged up by the river and near reception.
Price wise - slightly more than other sites but for a peaceful weekend with very clean facilities you can't complain.
Would definitely recommend this site and will go back again

This was our 'luxury' stop on a backpacking trek via Blaneau-ffestiniog / Cnicht / Portmadog. As the site is suitable for everything from our little tent to a Winnibago we weren't sure if it could be a bit 'butlins'. We had nothing to worry about. The different units had their own areas and though busy it was far from crowded.
The quiet rules were welcome as were the free hot showers an the hottest day of the year. The owners were welcoming and helpful and the village (20 mins walk) supplied all we could want. The area has it all, from hardcore mountains to lovely lakeside strolls.
This is one of the best placed and well run sites I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. Next year I think I'll be back with the family in tow. In short, Excellent.

Stayed over the bank holiday, if you are looking for a clean, peaceful site with fantastic scenery then this is definitely the site. Although it was busy being the bank holiday it was exceptionally quiet after 10pm as the no noise rule is enforced if necessary, although we did not experience any noisy neighbours, all very nice with the majority who camped by us being there to walk as we do.
Fantastic location for walking the mountains, spoilt for choice. Toilets and showers kept very clean, although as others mention could do with more. Lovely walk to village, village general store a little limited in choice and expensive but ok for basics. Ice Cream shop is a must. Cae Du is a lovely site to stay on, will return.

Stayed here over Whit half term - absolutely stunning location. We arrived mid afternoon on the Saturday of the Bank Holiday weekend and the site was extremely full - all the 'pretty' spots by the river and round the fields amongst the trees at the edges had been taken so we went in a fenced off field near the middle, where we couldn't park the car by the tent (not a problem - only a few steps down a path to our pitch and it made the field very safe for our kids to play). We didn't have EHU but I was pleasantly surprised at how scattered the hook ups were - in our experience they tend to be all together and quite regimented.
The people who run the site are lovely - very friendly and helpful - and the 'no noise after 10pm' rule was strictly adhered to which was fabulous as we have had too many bad camping experiences with inconsiderate people being rowdy til the early hours. One group of lads arrived and were playing music - they were asked to turn it off.
Like the previous reviewer, my kids didn't miss a playground - there's loads of space to run around and kick a football, the river to explore, trees to climb. There are some rope swings rigged up in the trees by reception.
Facilities are very clean - even at the busiest times. The female bathroom has 2 large showers, several sinks and 3 toilets - all spotless. There's a hairdryer and a metered socket (for those dedicated people who take straighteners while camping) - both take 20ps. There are also two sets of unisex loos - 3 by the main block, which were fine, and 4 by the Portaloo bit which were not so great (concrete floors, bad aim = bit smelly sometimes). There is a Portaloo type structure with 2 female and two male showers - always spotless (though a bit poky, take a bag to hang your clothes up in, and flip flops or a sitmat to stand on while you get dry). The showers are locked up at 10pm so after that time there are only outside sinks, and the unisex loos.
Pot washing facilities in a portable cabin, and lots of outdoor (but undercover) sinks by the main block. There's a payphone, and a washer and a dryer.
The downsides: facilities were just not adequate for the number of people on site, particularly over the bank holiday weekend. I had to queue for a shower every day, bar two (out of an 8 night stay). The site was almost full - and there are 8 showers altogether. Also had to queue for the loo sometimes, and to do the washing up. It did get better after the weekend. One of the reviews I read said they have been refused permission to put up any more permanent structures, hence lack of facilities - if that's the case, then more portaloo type buildings are needed, in my opinion.
The freezer didn't work very well - our ice blocks were just cold, not frozen, even after 24 hours - and with the glorious weather we had that made keeping stuff cold very difficult.
And the midges are dreadful - take plenty of repellant and citronella candles (they sell Avon Skin So Soft in reception!)
Other than those negatives, a really lovely site, well run, in a perfect location with amazing mountain scenery all around. The walk into Beddgelert is really pretty - we ate at Lyn's Cafe which was very good. One word of advice - we didn't take any food with us, thinking we would get something for breakfast in Beddgelert. The tiny 'general store' is ridiculously expensive (you expect a bit of a mark up but I walked out without buying anything when I saw the prices).

At first I was a little concerned that the number of tents/caravans etc was too great for the facilities, but apart from a little queue for a shower on BH Monday morning, there wasn't really any problem as long as you were willing to be flexible and grab a shower when you could.
I rarely had to queue for a loo - maybe had to wait a couple of minutes at maximum. As the week went on, the site emptied quite a bit too, so it became less of a problem.
The site is in a really beautiful location and we were lucky enough to have fantastic weather. The walk into Beddgelert is easy and the path along the river is really beautiful in June as the bluebells are fading and the rhododendrons are in full bloom.
The site is quiet and we were told that there were staff on duty until 2am over the Bank Holiday to ensure that this was the case. I overheard one camper say that they had been asked to put out their fire as they were burning logs rather than coal for a bbq. I presume that this was something to do with smoke and it was clearly stated in the leaflet given to us at the start of the stay, so their actions seem reasonable to me.
Unlike some of the other campers with children, I am really glad there wasn't a playground. My kids didn't miss one (they are 4 and 10 years) and it meant that there weren't hoards of kids wandering around unsupervised at all hours which sometimes occurs elsewhere.
The pitches were clearly marked and most seemed flat. Ours was a little small and I will certainly ask for a bigger one if possible should we return. I think the non EHU had slightly bigger pitches than some of the EHU ones.
Overall though, it was a really enjoyable stay at a well run and cared for site. It is well worth a visit!

Returned once again for our yearly visit.
Oh how I look forward to our trip here!
A new reception building is by the main gate, manned by new people though thankfully Johan and Erynne are still in control.
The site itself has not changed too much but the newly laid roads throughout the site are an improvement though this does encourage people to drive a little quicker.
The toilet facilities are still 'like new', even though a few years old.
We are pleased to see there have been no drop in standards on this site.
If you want peace and quiet and beautiful scenery then this is a highly recommended site!

What a site? What can you say! Over the years we have used a number of campsites throughout Wales.
As this is one of the most expensive sites we have stayed on, you would expect something special, well sorry forget that. Bring your earplugs if it's a busy weekend we had a group of 6 to 8 drinking and shouting through the night till 2:30 in the morning this was still after the owner had asked them to stop.
Then we had a dog barking for a further 30 mins and they say this is a no noise after 11:00 camp site ???
When we complained and asked for a refund the Owner tried to make out that it was all quite after 11:00pm and he also made out he was one of the staff not the owner.
In the end we did get a refund, 1 night was more than enough so we left the site
