This is a lovely quiet campsite ideally located if you are going to walk Snowdon.

This site is extremely easy to find just off the A5. When we arrived check in was easy - we were booking in with friends and had no issues arranging pitches next to one another. We had previously been told that we would need £10 for the gate barrier but this was refunded at the end of our trip.

Once checked in, Alex showed us all of the available pitches - as we were here for nearly a week we had chosen pitches with electricity and there were plenty to chose from. Even though we went during the children's half term the site was not overrun and we chose two pitches with plenty of space for our friends 7 year old to play around in - in fact we had this space all week which was lovely.

There are 2 sets of washing facilities - the set furthest away from the reception are more dated however constantly cleaned and the showers do provide a temperature gauge. The other block is newer but has just 2 showers each for both males and females (the others had three) and do not have temperature gauges although are always warm and have very large cubicles. The toilets are always fully stocked with toilet paper and hand towels along with soap to wash your hands. There is also a hair dryer available in the newer block for a small fee. Both blocks are locked at 10pm however this is not a problem as the outside toilets are just as clean as the inside ones - it just means you need to get your shower and pot washing in before then.

There is a very small play area with a tree swing for children however that is it - this is not necessarily a bad thing however because there is plenty of space and ball games are allowed along with riding of bikes etc.

Speak to Alex and Tony about the walks both around the campsite and the walk you can undertake to get you to the bottom of the Watkins path and Snowdon. We wandered along this path before starting the hike up Snowdon and it takes about 45 mins - 1 hour depending on how quickly you want to take it. It is very scenic and means you avoid the road - walking around by the lake and through a few farms. The Watkins path is not the easiest of paths to undertake however it is well worth the attempt - although be aware that as you ascend to the top it does turn into more of a rock climb with some loose scree at the very top just before the summit. If you don't fancy this there is a trin you can take up and the parking is close by in Llanberis - our friend did this and then we all walked back down together on the Llanberis path - which is far easier - however it still does require a level of fitness and at the very least a good pair of trainers - we saw people trying to walk up in dress shoes which had no grip or ankle support which I would not recommend.

There are also other walks around the campsite - one which goes up to the mine and along behind the moountains leading you into Bedgerlert which takes about three hours or there is a nice little walk into the village along the river, meaning you can stay off the road as there is no paths. Once in the village there is a number of places to eat and drink. We had lunch in the Tannernan Inn (which is also a hotel) which was lovely and caters very well for vegetarians. We also ate at the fish and chip shop and had a take away pizza one evening that we would recommend to others. Alex did recommend a trip to the Sacrens Head however this was closed when we went up as they were having a bit of work done. There is also a great ice cream shop which was extremely busy no matter what time of day we went down.

If you do forget anything then there is a camping shop in the village and a large Tescos very close by at Porthmadog.

Insect repellant is highly recommended for the midgets which did appear early evening, this is the area rather than the campsite, I would also suggest citronelle candles or incense as this helps to keep them away.

If you are not a walker there is also several different mountain bike tracks around Bedgerlert forest and the neighbouring areas - the campsite can also help with bike hire should you want to do this.

This is a lovely campsite, one of the quietest we have ever been too - we will definitely be returning to undertake more walking!

Absolutely love this site, I love Beddgelert so this site ticks all the boxes, the toilets and showers always clean the site is spotless we have camped here numerous times. Management are more than helpful the site is picturesque surrounded by mountains and valleys you will be sure to see the buzzard family souring above each morning, the dog walk is more than adequate.

Will be visiting this site again very soon. If you want a quiet get away from it all holiday then Cae Du is perfect. Electric hook ups, easy access water across the site. Also the security is good as they have a pass card (£10 which you get back) so you can't get in or out without it. If you love north Wales then this little piece of paradise will keep you coming back for more.

The site is really good - plenty of space and large pitching areas. Cars are parked on hardstanding so it doesn't turn to mud when it's wet.

The ground is generally very level and not too firm, so it's easy to pick a spot and pitch there. Facilities are modern and clean, although the top toilet area could do with hot water next to the toilets - it's limited to the potwash which closes at 10pm.

It's a quiet site - music is banned and noisy groups discouraged - but we thought it was all the better for this.

The owners and staff were really friendly and helpful - make sure you buy some of the free range eggs at Reception, they're really tasty!

Will definitely visit Cae Du again, hopefully when it's a bit less windy!

Hi just got back from a great week at this campsite, we had ehu pitch for our large tent in the paddock. This was very good we did have very strong winds while we were there up to 50 mph, we were just great being in the paddock area. The toilet block is excellent very clean all the time. They close the main block from 10pm to 7am but this is fine, there are other toilets to use. Wash-up area is excellent so clean, you can see your face in the sink !

The wardens are very good the man is very helpful, he showed us which pitch would be best away from the wind etc. The owners too are very kind and helpful, thanks to tony for letting us stay on a few hours to dry the tent etc. We shall go back with out a doubt. This is a very good site to go to in north Wales.

The site is ideal place for Snowdon or explore the coast line. All the facilities are very good, clean and no bad behaviour is allowed, no open fires, loud music, loose dogs etc, the owner constantly tour the site, which is comforting to see.

Only one thing spoilt it. After paying £40 for a tent pitch 2 nights, the owner wanted me pay just to leave our car on the car park for a few hours while we had a walk with friends who were stopping longer !

My partner and I booked this as we usually do - on a whim. We'd visited the area before and had an idea of where the site was in relation to the village and the setting etc but were still blown away! We arrived in the afternoon having booked over the phone and the owner was jolly and chatty both on the phone and moreso in person, asking what plans we had and recommending the pub in the village.

It was mid-week and out of the school holidays so we had the pick of the site really, with only a few others there. The weather was good so we risked the midgies and pitched up by the river. We were lucky and escaped the bites and were rewarded with a real idyllic spot.

A short walk through the site past the swing for the kids etc and we wandered down the riverside path in to the village and enjoyed food at one of and drinks at all of the pubs in the village and were only disappointed we weren't staying longer!

We were ideally situated to head up Snowdon, explore Betws-y-Coed and ventured down to the coast. The site was perfectly adequate - good, clean showers and the toilets and sinks also. We didn't really spend much time on site but what time we did we had no qualms at all.

To sum up - ideal spot, great village location, friendly owners, good value for money. Would I stay again? Without hesitation.

Booked this site for bank holiday weekend for myself and my wife and my daughter in a motorhome

Weather great but a little windy local town beautiful with good pubs

First concern was at reception on arrival there seemed to be one thing only THE RULES and any customer first feeling certainly did not show.

In general the facilities are very good and clean however why close the showers at 10pm and not open until 7am I question the theory.

Individual pitches are good and ground soft for any pegs being used.

All of our party certainly felt through out the stay uncomfortable due to the distinct feeling the staff did nothing other than watch your every move and made sure all rules were adhered too.

Certainly wont be going back with the recent experiance being one of the lowest/poorest after 25 years of caravaning.

After reading other reviews we thought we'd try this site for our first camping trip for over 20 years and we were not disappointed, beautiful surroundings and a lovely river to camp beside if you wish too,

The facilities were kept very clean this is the one thing I was worried about so I was very pleased with them, the showers in the smaller older block were good, warm and free to use,we never used the newer block as it was further from us but we were told they were also good and free.

The staff were lovely and friendly. There were hook up facilities but we didn't use them,

Dogs are allowed and there is a dog walk area for them, there were dogs on site during our stay but I have to say I hardly heard them at all,the site is a peaceful one and we enjoyed our stay here.

We walked in to beddgelert in the evenings doing the lovely river walk, there are a few good pubs The Prince llewelyn was very good for food and fairly reasonable prices. There are a few gift shops and cafes and a shop which we didn't use as it was expensive. There is a Tesco supermarket in nearby porthmadog.

I would definitely use this site again and recommend it to friends.

Have stayed at this site on 4 occasions with campervan and tent and it is always a great welcome.

Pro's - Excellent Location, great Facilities, close to great litle village, Amazing walks, Security great.

Cons - Site is a litle pricey, Washing and toilet facilities away from the main block are cold and a litle dingy, usually worth the walk to the mainblock, midges especially when damp but warm (most days in North Wales)

This is an excellent campsite the owners/wardens were always on hand. The lady done a great job keeping the facilities maintained and cleaned, these little things are quite often not noticed so thanks for doing a great job.

The position of the site is ideal for exploring its close to Snowdon being nestled in a valley below it or if its the sea you like that's close by.

We were allowed to camp where we wanted. The only bit of criticism is as we were camped near the road through the site we were kept awake by late arrivers that especially our last night. With them keeping there engine running well past 11pm then starting it again in the middle of the night as somebody was sleeping in the car.

But all in all an excellent place.
