Brilliant site. Location was ideal for us and within easy reach of everything that you want to do in the area.
It really is only a 10 min walk to the village if you need anything, although don't be expecting a Tesco's or anything like that. Can recommend the Pizza and Ice Cream shop!
There is a dog walking area just outside the main barrier. The toilets / showers were spotless at all times, but I'm not sure there would be enough in high season. Unless they bring more in maybe?
Owners and staff were very friendly and helpful and we can't wait to go back. Wouldn't consider any other site in the area after staying here.

I would like to address a couple of comments made by other reviewers. The owners of this campsite have applied for planning permission to build more showers/toilers. The National Parks Authority have refused permission to build any more 'permanent' structures on their land, this is the reason that the overflow (No pun intended!) toilets and showers are portacabin type. I.E. They are wheeled and can be removed.
I guess this is a good example of the difficulty of balancing the requirements of tourism with the need to protect the environment.
Don't let this put you off, it is an excellent site with lovely surroundings and within walking distance of plenty of good food and drink.
There is even a Gelert shop in Beddgelert, which often has clearance bargains for those in need of some retail therapy!

Excellent site good clean facilities, the staff and wardens are helpful and friendly. Fantastic views of the mountains. Total peace and tranquillity and if you are interested in astronomy fantastic for star gazing as there is no light pollution, so a torch is essential when going to the toilets at night.
The only down side to the site is there is no shop so make sure you have all the essentials before you arrive. We will definitely be back here as soon as it opens again in March.

This is a great location by the river and perfect for Snowdon and Beddgelert. The thing that sets this site a part from the location is the pride the owners take in the site. I challenge you to find cleaner facilities, you can literally see your reflection in the taps.
I have stayed here in typical Welsh weather and even then the facilities are spotless and I mean floors cleaned ever hour or so not just morning and night.
If you don't want to cook you can walk to Beddgelert either via the path along the river or down the road in 10 mins.
We have been here 3 times this year and will definitely be back next year.
If I had to find a negative it would be that the showers turn off too quick, fortunately this can be easily fixed by wedging the shower valve with the squeegee provided to dry the floor before you get dressed.

What a truly outstanding gem of a site, right in the centre of Snowdonia national park. Spent the late august bank holiday weekend here and wished we had stayed longer. The site itself is large with a mixture of tents caravans and motor homes, hard standings and ehu available. Shower and toilet block looked new and there is also an overspill block which is built from portacabins, plenty of toilets and showers for all.
Outstanding views wherever you are pitched, and lots of mountain walks. Site staff are very helpful and friendly, always ready to stop for a chat, but never intrusive. Beddgelert village is just a short 10 min stroll away along side a lovely river walk and the village itself is lovely. Had a sunday lunch at the Saracens head, very nice, cant wait to go back.

We arrived on bank holiday weekend. The site was in an extremely pretty setting and we set up close to the river. Security pass to get through the barriers. Initial payment of £10 which you get back when you leave.
next to the reception area are two showers and toilets and sink area outside. All very clean and well looked after. Close to where we were sited was a portacabin with sinks, three toilets and another portacabin with 2 showers and a sink. These were very clean although the three separate wcs I feel should have had tiled flooring as after a few visits I noticed there was a rather unpleasant smell in the wcs. They were though very well situated for all to use. The reception was less than 5 minutes walk away for the alternative facilities. Could do with couple more showers I think. Showers open at 7 a.M. And by about 7.15 there were five people already waiting to use them. The only other criticism for me was the road through the campsite - it had a few potholes
Staff were helpful and friendly when we arrived. Very calm atmosphere, no fires allowed but can use BBQs.
Think there should be a children's area though we had two children aged 3 and 5 and they seemed perfectly happy pottering around and there are plenty of places to walk (weather permitting - which it wasn't for us unfortunately). That's the only problem with the snowdonia area - almost constant rain!
Possibly should be some more barriers to stop children from entering too near the river though our two didn't seem interested in going anywhere near.
Beddgelert has good eating facilities and Porthmadog isnt too far away _sorry not good with directions and distance etc.
All in all, beautiful scenery around the site, facilities very clean, site very tidy. Very peaceful and everyone friendly and cheerful. We left a day early due to awful weather conditions which disappointed us greatly as we really wanted to explore more though we are lucky in that we live an hour or less away so we shall definitely be going there again.
Well recommended.

If you want a site with stunning scenery and peace, this is the site for you. Camping areas are well laid out and you can choose where to camp. Very little road noise, and we were quite near the road. The noise from the river was not a problem either, in fact we liked it. The weather was very bad. Strong winds and driving rain, but our pitch wasn't too bad. The main toilet block was very clean and showers good. Might have to queue when site is full. The second toilet block was outside and two showers in a portacabin, but ok. My only niggle was the showers and washbasins in the block were locked at 10pm, so if you wanted to use them after this time all that was available were outside sinks (ok if it wasn't raining). You pay £10 for a swipe card, but got that back on departure. We would definitely stay again. The sceanery was beautiful. If you want good homecooked food at reasonable prices them go to Lyns Cafe in the village of Beddgelert (10 mins away), fantastic, as is the village.

Lovely located site beside the river. Ideal site for exploring Snowdonia on foot / water / bike.
Clean and tidy and although there over the August (wet!) Bank Holiday weekend didn't have to wait long for the showers which were clean and hot !
My only gripe is the price. We paid £28 per night for 2 adults / 2 kids ( twins 5 yrs ) and a small dog on a pitch with EHU.I though this was very expensive compared to other similar sites we have stayed at.
Recommended for families intent on walking / riding / kayaks etc with older kids but still a bit expensive for me.

Just back from 11 nights in glorious North Wales. Chose Cae Du after carefully reading all the reviews over the winter. We were not disappointed. The site is in a beautiful location and is a haven of peace tranquillity. The couple who run it work hard to make this a near perfect campsite. Upon arrival you are shown to a selection of pitches from which to chose. The facilities were always kept spotlessly clean, and although the number of showers seem too few, we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes if at all. The site is very quiet after 10 at night, and one family were asked to leave after one night because they were too noisy!
Beddgelert is 15 mins walk and I can recommend the food in Lyn's, The Tannonran Inn and the Pizza restaurant. All round a great experience and if you are looking for a peaceful campsite you will not find better. Probably the best campsite we have found.

This is a lovely camp site, in a really good location. There are two sets of toilets / showers, the nicest being the one near the reception area. The portaloo showers work well too.
The owners are very welcoming and look after the site well.
A short walk into the beautiful village of Beddgelert but not too far from other local attractions.
If it had a small play area for children it would be an excellent site.
All in all, a very good place to stay.
