We stayed at this camp site for 4 nights and I will definitely be back for another visit.

The site is superbly situated for both Snowdonia, and most of the other North Wales attractions.

It is set in a stunning location on the banks of the Glaslyn river. The site is really well maintained, and lots of space in between pitches means plenty of privacy if needed. We had electric hook up, there are some stunning pitches right by the river if you do not want hook-up. That said, the pitches with hook-up are lovely.

All the staff were helpful, friendly and went out of their way to make sure all the facilities were up to scratch. One of the site staff was pleased to see that we had taken rock pegs, because of the weather. The rock pegs are needed for the weather really. The ground wasn't too rocky. On our first night we had very strong winds, and thanks to his weather warning, we triple-pegged down our tent and all was good.

The facilities were fine. At our end of the site, we had the secondary showers and loos; The showers were in portable cabins but that didn't stop them being warm, clean and plenty of hot water to be had. The same for our pot wash. At the other end of the camp there is a big block with the same facilities, but in a more permanent building.

There is a pay phone there too and wi-fi (payable £1. 00 for 20 mins) and a freezer and washing machines. I never felt the need to go to use them specifically, I was quite happy with the portable cabin. This block though did have a hair dryer, a facility which was not available at our end of the site. There was a lack of mirrors in our washing facilities too, but that is not always a bad thing!

There are lots of lovely walks of various lengths around the area of the site. As already said, the camp site is ideally situated for most of the North Wales attractions. We took the bus from the village to the Rhyd Ddu path to go up Snowdon.

We were blessed with brilliant weather, though we cant attribute that to the Camp site! We went down the Llanberis path and got the bus back from the Snowdon station at Llanberis and the driver dropped us off at the end of the drive to the site. Brilliant service, and that ride cost us £1. 00.

The eateries were priced fairly, and the food we had was not bad. Take away Pizza one night, and a meal at the Riverside Cafe one night. Not bad at all.

Midges were not too much of a problem. We used citronella in the tent. Sun screen with repellent seemed to keep the bites to a minimum.

We didn't have young children with us, but the children that were there were happily riding their bikes and playing, without being a nuisance to the other campers.

There is no mobile signal. It was quiet.

The one potential problem was no entrance to the site after 10. 00pm. You had to leave your car at the gate. That was not something that impacted on me, but it did put me off venturing further afield for an evening meal or trip out somewhere. But, it was advertised as a quiet site, and that is what you get.

All in all it is a lovely site. The breath-taking location is just jaw-droppingly beautiful, and I shall be back, definitely.

A bit expensive but worth the cost! Immaculately clean toilets and showers and plenty of them. Never had to wait/queue for any facilities and also plenty of washing up sinks that are under cover if it is raining.

Staff are friendly and helpful. On our first night we didn't realise we'd parked by a footpath so when we asked to move we were just told to pitch anywhere so we found another pitch that suited us.

Nearly all of the pitches are large so we didn't feel too close to our neighbouring pitches and they have stunning views of the surroundings.

There were plenty of areas with electric hook ups and there was a service point for motor homes with hose pipe to fill up water tanks and a drive over drain for waste water.

There are some fabulous walks right from the campsite, 1 direction leads to a lake and you can visit the copper mines on the way (about 10 min walk) and the other direction leads to the town with a lovely walk alongside the river and if you continue alongside the river past the town the walk is stunning as you climb up alongside the river.

There are pubs in the town serving food. We found the Prince Llewelyn to be by far the best, with friendly atmosphere and good value tasty food and very dog and family friendly.

We found the Saracens Head to be the opposite. Dog owners and families are shown to a room at the back of pub. There was a selection of about 5 main courses on the menu, 3 of which weren't available and service was very poor!

This is a wonderfully relaxing, quiet campsite and great if you have dogs and despite the relatively high cost I would return here again

The site is nice set in stunning suroundings with a lovely walk down the river to the town and beyond town itself is a proper little picture post card town.

The site owners are very friendly and helpful don't keep mithering you like some happy to just chat, toilet blocks are fine one is brilliant one block is clean and no problems but is made up of portable cabins which just don't seem to match the stunning location.

Very spacious and quiet my only negatives would be that in peak times the water supply went down to a trickle

Plus good thing or a bad thing? no phone signal! However great site and I would definitely return probably many times in the future

The scenery was stunning and it was a very pleasant site. It was within walking distance of the local village where there are limited shops but a good selection of pubs.

The toilet and shower blocks were fairly clean and the site staff were friendly.

There was a no music policy at the site which gave us the impression that the site would be quiet but it was not.

There were lots of children and the site was very noisy for most of the day.

You also need to take insect repellent as the camp is over run with mozzies!

This was probably the best camp site we have stayed on. On arrival we were advised on the best area on the site to pitch so we had sun all day. A lovely quiet site which was very restful and stunning views all the way around us.

The facilities were spotless and very well maintained. The village of Beddgelert was only a short walk away beside a river.

There was an excellent fish and chip shop and home made ice cream shop in the village. Both well worth a visit.

In the other direction was a very pleasent walk to a lake. We liked the site so much we stayed twice as long as we originally booked.

This is a lovely site - so much space and the freedom to choose the pitch that suits you. The views are amazing - a great start to the day especially in glorious sunshine!

The shower block was very clean and the showers are nice and spacious.

We also used the laundry room - the juice and magazines was a nice touch.

No mobile signal at all, but there is a call box if you need to be in contact with the outside world. We also couldn't get any television channels, which normally wouldn't be a problem as we are not really bothered about the television, but when we got back from our walk we thought we would watch Andy Murray at Wimbledon (but we couldn't and anyway he lost!)

The walk into Beddgelert is lovely and only takes about 10 minutes.

There is also a great circular walk - up past the coppper mine, up to the lake, then up the ridge (with great views across to the sea) and then back along the river to Beddgelert.

This is our fourth time camping at Cae Du over as many years. It has been my favourite campsite since our first stay and that hasn't changed!

The owner is very friendly, we had planned to go over there fri night but other half wasn't very well, next morning he felt better so we went over first thing in the morning and we were given our choice of the campsite to pitch on. Owner enquired after my husband and was really helpful.

Site was quieter than usual-I assume because of the bad weather forecast- made the site even more beautifully peaceful than ever! As it was, we had glorious weather on the saturday, and the sunday was better than at home.

The site has not changed much over the years- we noticed new landscaping and more facilities around the 'temporary' block- and the potwash was spotless with hot water, and the loos regularly cleaned and again, spotless.

No playground as such, but with wide open spaces, the river, and the lake it isn't necessary. The Royal Goat serves up a nice pint of Pws Mws Glaslyn Ale, all other pubs in Beddgelert are Robinsons which we are not keen on.

Glaslyn Ices are as good as ever, their chocolate ice has deservedly has won an award. We love this site, it feels like home as soon as we drive over the little bridge, and it is still the site that others we visit have to measure up to (and fail in some way or other usually!)

Looking forward to our next visit and long may it stay the same!

I would like this to be a best kept secret.

Level pitches on the whole, great facilities, very friendly welcome, fantastic views all round. Great walks from campsite into Beddgelert, up hills and along rivers. A little bit of heaven.

If you want open views, level clean pitches, great toilet blocks and space around you (the pitches were well spaced out) this is the place for you.

I can't remember if there was a play area because we don't have children anymore.

It was a peaceful site with a no music and quiet after 10pm policy, so we really liked it.

What I particularly liked was the fact it is privately owned and decisions could be made at ground level rather than going through head office. The owners were very much involved in day to day running.

Facilities were spotless and more than adequate.

We stayed at Cae Du over half term - my wife and I and two kids - and had a lovely stay. Beautiful location and nice and quiet in the evenings.

The facilities are decent although some more showers would be helpful.

There is a large pond on the site where the kids had great fun pond dipping.

One note of caution though - we pitched our tent next to the river which seemed like a nice idea. It was but it was also midge city central. A pitch further away from the river may have been less midgey.

Overall though we had a great time and would definitely consider coming back.

Well a year after a chance visit while backpacking, I`ve returned to this site (as promised see june2010 review) with the whole tribe in tow.

Now, if you`ve read my first review you`ll know I like this site, loads of space to spread your pitch out, well observed quiet rules, well equipped facilities etc.

My group of 7 stayed 4 nights and in 4 sleeping tents and using a cooking shelter and at £200 I thought the cost was perfectly reasonable.

With this stay being longer than my last I have had a chance to check this site out quite thoroughly, and I have to say my opinion hasn`t changed.

Being hyper-critical I would hope the owners manage to build the second washrooms soon as the `top` facilities are a little temporary. Speaking with the owner I found out that this is happening, just very slowly due to planning regs etc (this is the middle of a national park!). I`m struggling to pick any other faults (honestly)

The midgies mentioned in other reviews are around most campsites at this time of year, if you`re particularly bothered ask for a pitch away from the river where the little darlings seem less prevalent.

The attractions around the site and town were plenty to keep the little ones (aged 2-14) happy.

In conclusion. A must stay in Snowdonia.
