Excellent site if only we'd had good weather, rained constant for one whole day so we packed up and went home. Toilets spotless and all amenities very clean and well looked after. Lovely river walk into Beddgelert, lovely ice cream shop and a few pubs, chip shop and little grocery store. Peaceful site but there is a bit of road noise but not really at night. Beautiful views of the mountains around the site. Not far to Porthmadog, Criccieth and Pwhelli for a drive about. Will go back again when the weather is better to really get the full benefit of the site.

Exactly as per other reviews.
Clean, tidy, quiet, with friendly staff.
No music & no cars driving on site after 10pm = peace and quiet
Well kept showers & toilets, beware the midges.
Well worth a trip!

A real gem of a site, with super helpful owners. Plenty of choice of areas to pitch. Nice walks started from the camp site and an easy 10 minutes stroll in to Beddgelert with pubs, bistros etc. And a good camping supplies outlet. But also try the converted chapel cafe, turn right from camp site towards Nantgwynant, on the left after about 2km. The lunch pack is great value and the sandwiches and flap jack were scrummy!
Very central to the Snowdonia region and days out to the coast.
Nightly tariff includes showers , hot water etc. So no scrambling around for 20 pence pieces! Recommended.
While we were there it was dull, damp and windy. No midges!

A very beautiful site in a stunning location, although we mistakenly camped too near the road, so suffered a small amount of road noise- however, when we return there are plenty of other places to pitch, so that's not really a problem.
The facilities were very good, very spacious shower cubicles, and these and the toilets were very clean at all times.I suspect in busy times there may be a queuing problem, although this is only a supposition.
There is a barrier( which you are given a swipe card for, in order to activate it)so any vehicles coming on site before 07.00, and after 22.00 cannot enter, but there is ample parking in this case. This is a brilliant idea, as it obviously cuts down on vehicle noise.
I'm not sure if the site sells any basic foodstuffs, but the village of Bedgelert is only 10 minutes walk from the site- a very picturesque walk it is, too!We didn't use any of the local pubs, but there seems to be several to choose from.
The owners were very friendly and welcoming.

We would return to Cae Du, but not in the dreadful weather we experienced in our 5 day stay, Tents and equipment were abandoned by many, the river broke it's bank and we spent most of the time underneath the gazebo / leisure shelter. Nevertheless. The owners were very friendly and helpful
The showers/ toilets were portacabins, but were more than adequate. The location is stunning and Beddgelert is very attractive, even in the rain,. The pubs / hotels weren't up to much, although I struggle with the cold, dead beer which tends to be served in Wales. There is a CAMRA recommended pub, Cwellyn Arms, Rhyd Dou, 4 miles away on the road to Caemarfon road, which was good for food and drink, although it took an age to get served with either.
The Gelert Camping centre is in the village.
The Pizzeria provided a refuge from the storm and was good value for money

Stayed in torrential rain, with some bright interludes, our pitch was in danger of getting waterlogged near edge of field (unavoidable due to hours of persistent rain) but luckily rain stopped long enough for water to drain away.
Campsite is in beautiful location and spread out with plenty of room in different areas, for example you could camp sheltered next to barn, or pitch by a river, by a large pond or in a paddock. So you arrive, discuss your preferences and whether you need ehu and if it is possible get a few suggestions where to pitch, take a walk and pitch in preferred area. This may not be possible if full though as in early July I would say 60% occupancy. No midges to speak of although camping next to water may have been different and weather damp so midges probably sheltering where midges shelter!
No music allowed so a quiet site welcoming families, some backpackers, some school children on outbound holiday in far field and also dogs on leads were welcome. Funnily enough we returned one day to find our 'Bara Brith' which is Welsh fruit loaf had been raided from our tent and deposited in the field before being rejected by culprit. We suspected a rogue dog not on it's lead who decided Bara Brith was not to it's taste!
The staff were friendly and jovial and were easy to access if needed.
Showers and toilets good standard, hot showers in modern building next to owners house and were fine for level of occupancy we had. Pity about push button on showers which go in 15 second spurts before need another push but I expect necessary to stop waste and misuse!
Nice walk by river into beautiful village Beddgelert where there are several pubs, shops, tourist information and if you forget any camping gear a very good camping shop too.
All in all recommended site in beautiful national park of Snowdonia, very good centre for hiking and access to Snowdonia mountain 10 or so miles away. Would return.

We really liked Cae Du campsite - definitely one of the two best we stayed in during our trip.
The site is bigger than I'd usually go for as I prefer smaller camping sites, rather than the larger parks. However here the site has been split more or less 50:50 between tents and caravans - with the tents getting the pick of the fields along the river. There were about 5-6 different fields to choose from which meant we were able to select a quiet pitch at the far end of the site right on the banks of the river. The field we chose had no access to cars - which is probably why it was quieter & we were able to park nearby anyway. Most of the fields allow you to park right next to your tent.
The facilities are excellent & the wardens seem to work non stop to maintain the site & keep everything nice and clean. The free showers were especially welcome as it was very humid when we were there, and the 2 previous sites we'd stayed at charged for a pittance of water. There are two toilet blocks & we never encountered any queues for showers or toilets.
The site is a short walk from Beddgelert with The Tanronnen Inn by far the pick of the 3 pubs in town. The food was really good & we ate there both nights.
All in all a very good campsite ideally located to explore north Snowdonia.

Just back from a 1 night stay at this site and although we are new to caravanning, this is a site that I will gauge all others against.
It is so relaxed and peaceful.
The owners do a great job of keeping the grounds well kept and they do circulate regularly but this is not obtrusive at all but more reassuring that if you need to ask anything they are on hand.
I arrived in the pouring rain and received the owners advice on prevailing winds and best positioning for my caravan. I was all set to pitch on a grass area but one of the owners came over and told me to park on the hardstanding access type area to avoid getting my carpet wet if the rain continued (nice touch).
So if you want to sit and watch the world go by this is the place.

We have visited this site many times and have never been disappointed, if there is a heaven on earth, this is it. The scenery is to die for, being set in the mountains of Snowdonia. The owners are very friendly, always busy around the site and willing to stop for a chat or to help.
The showers and toilets are spotlessly clean, with plenty of hot water. There is a laundry room and a freezer for your ice blocks etc. You can buy fresh milk at reception and if you are lucky (like us) and have perfect weather you can also buy a very welcome ice lolly. For a small fee there is a camera battery charging service (make sure you take your own charger unit with you).
It is a very spacious site with plenty of room between units, electric hook up is available. There is a no music policy which makes it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity after a hard days walking. Dogs are welcome and there is a designated dog walking area.
Beddgelert village is a 10 min walk away along a riverside path, here there is a variety of pubs, eating places, gift shops, a post office and a store for supplies. We have just returned home after a two week holiday here and can't wait for our next visit.

We stayed here mid June Friday to Sunday. The first thing I was impressed with was the helpfulness of the staff when calling to enquire - I was even able to make a reservation which was good.
The campsite has swipe cards for the entry and exit barriers which is nice and reassuring. The layout of the campsite it excellent with small areas of grass surrounded by trees / bushes that makes you feel that you have your own area to camp.
The toilet and shower block situated near the reception was new and very good free hot water and facilities. The other toilet area was not as good as this.
The site it in a good location, close to Beddgelert which has a few pubs and shops. We came to climb Snowden and the start of the Watson Path is around 5k down the road from the campsite.
The only problem was the midges, I am bitten all over my arms but didn't even have them exposed. We had citronella candles but these obviously didn't put them off. On our departure morning there was no sign of the midges as it was too cold - so maybe give the whole area a miss in hot weather.
Apart from the midges the campsite was excellent.
