We have just returned from 5nights at this site. We hadn't intended to come here but as it was a last minute thing we struggled to get in most sites.
Location - perfect for beach lovers as your right next to the beach. We walked to the nearest village, moelfre, a few times by the coastal path, your looking at around an hour, we had a pram, a mountain terrain pram as we are seasoned walkers and it's tough going we had to lift up and over many stiles etc.
But you can walk the road in 20 mins. Very pretty but not much there, a chippy, a pub a shop and anns pantry cafe we were there for lifeboat day which I must say was a fab event.
The views from the campsite were stunning but there is nothing there for children, my son is only 8mths so we weren't looking for that type of site.
On arrival we had to pay £20 for a key fob which is given back when you leave so take cash as there's no cashpoint. It has gated access which does make it safe. Pitches are only located around the outside of the site and they are very strict with markers that you stay within them, which we thought was good as you haven't got anyone pitching on top of you.
We think this site is overpriced and we were disappointed we paid £23 per night for portable loos and cabins. There is no brick shower block. The pot wash was 2 sinks (unless you trekked up to reception for the other 2) and I have to add I have never ever had to queue 30mins to wash my dishes.
When we arrived the lady walked us down to our pitch which was backed on to the pot wash and portaloos, not really what you want with an 8mth old and portable loo doors banging all night. I think she realised and when we had the tent up she came back down and moved us, a pain but worth it, even if we had to re pitch in the rain.
We had an amazing time on the beach and the shower on the edge of the site was a great addition to wash the sand off your feet, but overall this is a overpriced site. We have paid the same in many sites all over the lakes and have brick shower buildings.
Finally I wouldn't recommend to people with older children as they are very strict, we were informed we were too loud at 10:30pm
Won't be visiting this site again but will defo be back to this area. Beautiful beaches and coastline to walk.

This was our first visit to Dafarn Rhos and we chose the site specifically because of the rules and because the site offered disabled facilities. The rules as read on the campsite are clear and to the point. We personally did not object to the reminders when arriving on site because that leaves everyone clear as to their own responsibilities and is sadly necessary because despite this there are always those who do not think it applies to them - illustrated by a tent neighbour who had the radio on loud from 5. 30 one morning - this was dealt with appropriately to the relief and appreciation of those of us in that location. The enforcement of the rules resulted in a wonderful 2 weeks stay at Dafarn Rhos.
The site is spotless, dogs always under control, peace, quiet and a location to die for. The pitches are ample and because of the firebreaks you do not feel hemmed in by other units. We thought the price was more than fair for the site location and facilities.
The site location is stunning - from our tent it took less than a minute to access Lligwy beach with its sweet little cafe - great cake and good bacon butties etc. If you are prepared to walk a little further up the coastal path you can access other beaches and have them mostly to yourself - lovely sand and great swimming. The walking in the area is good - get the coastal walks book from the cafe - and aimed at all levels.
Nearby Moelfre has a good general store and is as pretty as you could wish for. It also has a pub, and a cafe / restaurant called Ann's Pantry which serves superb food both inside and outside in its picturesque garden. A little further on Benllech has a good selection of shops, a doctors surgery, and great fish and chips. Also local to the campsite a few minutes drive away is the Pilot Inn, great value family meals, a playbus for the children and a great roast beef dinner on a sunday. Other highlights for us was a trip to the other side of the island to South Stack - RSPB - and the drive there is lovely, and a day in Beaumaris, including a boat trip to Puffin Island with stunning views of puffins, other seabirds and a seal colony, was a treat.
From the campsite it takes only minutes up a local lane to see the remains of a Romano British settlement and a little further on a superb example of an ancient burial stone dating back to 3000BC. This campsite offered us easy access to everything we needed for the perfect holiday, in fact, the best holiday we have had in years.
On a personal note I have a stoma as a result of having to have my bladder removed a couple of years ago. Good clean, facilities are an absolute must for me and at one point I questioned whether it was possible to go camping and be able to maintain the strict level of care and hygeine necessary for my continued well being. This is where I cannot praise Dafarn Rhos enough. I was given access to the disabled facilities which were exemplary and was able to have a holiday with not one moments anxiety about my stoma care - this compares with a horrendous experience last year on another campsite. Vital to this was the warmth, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff which was great. I have genuinely tried to think of a down side during our stay but I simply can't other than to say I wish it hadn't rained the day we left, soggy tent and camping stuff not ideal to travel home with but hey, thems the breaks. All there is left to say is if you want a clean, well run site, with peace, quiet and no hassle from your fellow campers then go to Dafarn Rhos, you won't regret it.

Lovely clean, tidy site but far too many rules and reinforced verbally whenever the opportunity arose!
When we booked we were told that they only had pitches with electricity left and although we didn't need electricity we were still charged for it! On leaving, we were told in a very curt manner that we owed them money for a gazebo they said we didn't book - not true. It turned out to be an expensive weekend for us
Although the site was not anywhere near full they pitched us next door to someone else, the field was huge but everyone put in the same corner
Walkie-talkies always in evidence and the place was very secure. Had to be off the site by 11. 00 sharp!
Would choose another site next time as we didn't really care for the attitude of the people running it. Apart from that it was brilliant.

Forget about the rules, they are there for your protection & enjoyment. Wardens were helpful and whilst it would be nice to choose your own pitch, we we were allocated a perfectly acceptable one on the office field.
Excellent for beach and coastal walks, there is a lovely walk into Moelfre.
There are 3 mini markets in Benlech and those that want a supermarket, there is is a Waitrose at Menai Bridge.
Good digital TV reception.
Watch out for the speed cameras. I was done (without the caravan) but did not know it but fortunately can opt for a speed awareness course to avoid the points, and this can be taken locally to where I live. The RSPB at South Stack is well worth a visit as is Beaumauris. We did the Puffin Island boat trip but did not see a Puffin. There were however plenty of birds to see.
In all a fantastic week, plenty to do and never bored.
Will definitely go again and will use Dafarn Rhos.

We stayed here during the last bank holiday in May. My wife, 13 year old daughter myself and 1 dog. We booked this campsite because of the reviews and because of the afore mentioned rules.
These rules are not draconian they are good common sense camping rules that some people seem to have forgotten. They are there so everyone can enjoy themselves. And we certainly did. The site is very clean and tidy.
The pitches are well laid out with plenty of space between units. There are water points 1 between two pitches so no need to carry water far. The toilets and shower facilities were spotless and always had plenty of hot water.
The grounds are well kept. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. The site is secured access by a electronic fob which you get from reception.
The beach is less than a stone throw away and what a beach! There is a small cafe and toilets at the beach.
The coastal walk to Moelfre is well worth the walk (to the pub). We could not fault this site and will definitely be returning very soon!

Very well positioned site, near a beautiful beach, but found the rules far to restricting. We are a couple with 2 small dogs and were visiting the site with another couple in a motorhome with 2 very well behaved girls. There are rules for everything, we likened our stay to a concentration camp, far too restrictive for us. The girls were told off for playing with a soft ball in a field separate from any caravans or campers, we were barked at for positioning our motorhome 2 inches out of place it was just rules rules rules,
We camp all over europe with not a spot of trouble but this site drove us insane. We wouldn't return again, I would prefer to wild camp in the car park out side the camp for £10 per night and enjoy the beach that way!

I spent a week at this campsite during changeable weather in May. The site is beautifully located overlooking the beach and bay and is ideal for those who want a quiet and peaceful break.
There are several good sized fields divided by hedgerows for different types of unit and the place has a natural feel. The site has good toilet, shower, potwash and laundry facilities and the reception sells a few essentials which you might have forgotten.
Lovers of the natural outdoor scene will be at home here as the strict rules regarding no noise at night time and no driving on site after dark guarantee a good nights sleep in readiness for an early start for a days walking along the beautiful Anglesey coastlines.
There are lovely coastal paths nearby allowing access to the village of Moelfre and good access by road to all of Anglesey's many wonders.
Those who want to stay up carousing till late might be best to look for a more commercial site. All in all a great site for more traditional campers and anyone wanting a quiet get away from it all holiday. I shall certainly be returning.

Lovely site, had peace and quiet for the time we were there, that's were the rules come in, but most of them are only common sense and courtesy to others.
Everything is kept tidy and clean.
If you want everything on your door step don't go here as the pub, chip shop and small shop are a good mile away, if you want a peaceful break with great views this is the site.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Will return one day.

We received a warm welcome when we arrived at the campsite and for the duration of our stay the staff were friendly and very helpful, especially with regards to suggesting places to see.
The campsite facilities were well maintained and the beach was just 100 yards away. There were a number of good cycling routes nearby and the coastal path walks either way were well worth it. An improvement in my opinion would be if the pot wash and laundry facilities had slightly earlier and later opening hours but otherwise a highly recommended campsite.

This site has a lot of rules which is initially off-putting but given the location I would return.
There is one top field and 3 bottom fields. Next time, I'm going to insist on booking that we are on the field that is furthest from the beach if it's going to be windy
Lligwy beach is great for kite-surfing only occasionally when there is an on shore wind and winds reached 40mph last night. I cannot impress how bad the wind got: everyone who had a windbreak woke to find it collapsed or destroyed; we had to re-tighten all pegs/guys three times overnight and; some of our tent pegs were pulled out entirely by the wind. We left early the wind was so bad.
A member of staff insisted we pitch within a certain area and we pitched facing the sea which on reflection was madness given that the persistent wind came directly off the sea but this was the same person who asked us to re-park as we'd parked slightly wonky.
It would be better if it was assumed you understood the written list of rules and that a verbal refresh of some of the rules within 5 minutes of arriving on site doesn't set a welcoming tone.
As mentioned in the blurb, there is an obligatory fire break between each pitch which means that you are never too close to other tents. There isn't a dedicated play area but there was plenty of room to play in front of the tents. There is a small information centre at the site which includes tourist leaflets, a laundrette, recycling and crucially, a weather report. Wifi can be purchased for £2 a day.
There are toilets, showers, potwash and bins on the top field (including disabled), two toilets and a potwash between the first and second bottom fields and toilets and showers on the third bottom field. I was expecting the showers to have lengthy queues but it worked out okay. The toilets remained clean despite heavy use. The Potwash was open from 8am to 9pm which seems to be because the site has heavy emphasis on considerate use of facilities (ie Not being noisy late at night). Almost each pitch has a water point and there were three waste water sites. There's also an outdoor shower for cleaning off your wetsuit. Most of the pitches seemed to have electric hook up.
The campsite is practically on the beach. The site is secure by means of a fob (pedestrian and car gates (£10 deposit)). I'd recommend taking a windbreak to the beach (the old style 70s stripy ones with the wooden poles fared the best) or a beach tent. The beach is sandy rather than pebbly.
A 45 minute walk along the coastal path takes you to Moelfre but it's not suitable terrain for pushchairs as I think walking around the road isn't very safe as the road is winding. There's a pub in Moelfre and a restaurant (Ann's Pantry - book in advance as it's small). There's also chip shop in Moelfre (open 5pm-9pm).
We also visited the Sea Zoo. It's about £7 entry for adults but worth it. We spent a good couple of hours inside, the cafe's pretty good, the gift shop has a wide range of souvenirs and there's a free outdoor play area, crazy golf (£2.50) and a free bouncy castle.
Site location: Great, loved being by the sea
Site facilities: Good, always clean
Value for money: £23 a night which seemed a bit steep to me given camping's supposed to be a cheap holiday
Customer service: Lost marks for the reminders about the rules but gain marks for having a zero-tolerance attitude to obnoxious campers
Child friendliness: High score here as it was a pleasant place to stay for children. They could do with a separate recreation ground however.
