There's no doubt this campsite has an absolutely amazing position by a wonderful beach.
However. If you have a camper / motorhome and want to go out of an evening and have a bite to eat, then this is not the campsite for you. The gates are shut at an unbelievable 8pm! This could seriously hamper any evening plans you might have. Quite frankly the most moronic 'rule' have ever heard of on any campsite, which spoilt my stay entirely. As I travel on my own, being able to go out for the evening for something to eat and drink is an essential element to any break. What incredible inflexibility & stupidity by the owners!
If you like to get up early and use your vehicle to head for the hills or other beach - the gates don't open unitl 8am.
I've never stayed at any campsite that has as many rules and regulations as this campsite. From the moment I arrived and was met by a lady with a walkie-talkie I felt like I was being mugged. They charge for everything - and personally I think it's well overpriced - they charged £2 for my wee dog.

Visited this site over the bank holiday week. It is in a superb spot next to a fantastic sandy beach and the coastal path. The wardens were friendly enough.
However we felt that it was definitely over priced for the facilities were very poor. The showers were in portakabins and got very muddy. They were cleaned to a reasonable standard but got dirty very quickly.
We had a tourer caravan. The ground was very muddy we had to be towed off. Our ground sheet was a real mess. They charged for extra cars too.
I agree with the previous review that it is very dark which allows a for fabulous star gazing.

Hi there - we have literally just returned from our first visit to this site - and it certainly won't be the last! There were five of us (two adults and three girls aged 11, 10 and 5. We arrived earlier than 2pm and were met by the very pleasant warden and owner and were NOT charged extra. I have read some of the previous reviews and cannot understand why people were moaning. The owners and wardens are perfectly pleasant and very approachable. Yes - they are strict about the rules and regulations but this was, in part, why we chose this site. We have been on other sites where rules are not enforced and who wants waking at 2am by some drunken people who can't find their own tent??
All the facilities are more than adequate - very nice in fact - and we found them to be kept very clean indeed. Toilets, showers and washing-up facilities were definitely above average. We have a dog but did not take him as we feel it is unfair to others campers who do not like them. Both units either side of us did have dogs with them and there were no problems with them - responsible owners will appreciate, and abide by, the sensible rules.
The beach - well - WOW - it is superb! Our girls (and us) absolutely loved it. Words cannot adequately describe it - you really must see it! A handy shower is placed by the gate is wash off any sand (all parents of young children will REALLY love this!) and the fob access gives you real piece of mind.
Surrounding area is gorgeous - Moelfre is very pretty and has a local shop where the owners are very friendly and like 'the English'!. Benllech is nearby but, trust me, you can't beat the beach at the site. All of Anglesey is easily accessible but we didn't move too far. It was very wet, very wild, very windly and TOTALLY wonderful on the Saturday night - the girls loved it - it's all part of the fun of camping. At night, the site is lovely and peaceful and so very dark - the stars really are wonderful. In the mornings we were woken by the delightful sounds of the sheep baa-ing.
I really cannot praise this site enough, please be objective - remember it is camping and it is Anglesey. Totally, totally enjoyable and we were very sad to have to leave.

Just returned from this site where we stayed for 5 nights. You enter the site through secure gates, leading to the reception caravan and site
I was given an A5 double sided sheet of 'rules' which applied (all of which seemed pretty common sense to us and other fellow campers) and general site information, We then had our 'pitching instructions' explained to us in detail when we were shown our pitch and were told that they didn't allow toilet tents on site.
The location of this site is great - just a couple of minutes walk to the gorgeous beach.
Kids must only play on the field where they are pitched and there isn't a play area which was fine for us. I would not recommend staying here as part of a large group, unless you don't mind being quiet after 10.30pm. The night warden patrols the site bang on 10.30pm which made us feel guilty for talking even quietly after this time!
All in all a nice break but we will not return to this site as there are too many rules for us.

Just returned from our first family camping trip and chose this site from reviews on here and general location. Was not disappointed. Turned up in what can only be the most hardy campers nightmare - gusting wind and driving rain. Was promptly shown to our pitch and had the layout and facilities explained to us. Can honestly say previous comments relating to over zealous reinforcing of rules did not apply to us. And to be truthful the rules are common sense and make for a peaceful and safe stay. I notice negative comments about the lack of facilities for dogs - as a dog free family we appreciated this. Have two children who are scared of dogs and didn't notice any on site so well done to those sensible dog owners out ;-)
As the weather calmed down we were able to explore the site. Having no recent experience of facilities I cannot comment on how they compare to others but - there was a flushable toilet with hot running water in our field - no smell and very very clean. Never had to queue for a shower, found this amazing on a busy site in August.
The beach is stunning and appears safe and clean providing hours of fun.
The island itself has a peaceful feel and driving across the island only passed a handful of cars!
There is no shop on site but Benllech is a short drive away with 3 small well stocked supermarkets. There is a small snack van which we were told opened 'weather permitting' to be honest would not expect them to open in the wind and rain we experienced but was a bonus when it opened.
Would definitely return to this site and look forward to many other positive camping experiences.

This campsite is in a fantastic location, the views are amazing and the campsite has pedestrian access directly to the beach.
The beach has plenty of sand, rock pools and a coastal path. There is a small shop selling ice creams, teas, buckets and spades etc. Also at the other end of the beach you can hire kayaks or mountain bikes. The beach has two car parks, parking here is £2.50 for the day, an important point because if you turn up early the campsite charges £2 per hour for early arrival. Also if you have day visitors, for example 2 adults and 2 children in a car the campsite charges £10.
The campsite itself has four fields plus three rally (caravan and camping clubs and other exempt camping groups) fields, some are on the side of a hill sloping down to the beach. All the pitches are well spaced around the outside edge of the fields, allowing plenty of space for kids to play in the middle.
The camp site did have a tired, messy feel about it.
The small shower/WC facility is old portacabins, the shower block only has two unisex showers and its adjacent WC block is smelly at times, despite regular cleaning.
The main shower and WC facility is in 3 modern portacabins but there are only 4 showers in the male and 4 in the female plus a separate disabled shower room. The pot washing facilities are in a small wooden shed and there was always a queue for them at peak times, there is also a new washing machine and dryer in a wooden shed.
However the fantastic location helps makes up for the below average facilities.
The couple who are this years wardens are great, very friendly and helpful, they gave us a lovely welcome and are a great asset to the site. However their boss, has no people skills, her heavy handed arbitrary approach has soured our groups experience of what could be a great site. Owner's comment : There are 4 wardens (2 female) running the site and the only time the "boss" has had to be involved on the site is when someone has requested to speak to the owner or when a rule has been broken and the "boss" has been called in to assist in a dispute when the wardens have exhaused all their diplomatic skills etc

Can only repeat what everyone says about the site clean, spacious, SAFE, views that are are spectacular, beach clean, dry clean sand even when the tide is in, staff are brill very helpful.
Lots of rules and this is why it is a good site.
Only point I was annoyed at was the extras, price for visitors per visitor even a baby, price for visitor parking a car, even though they were on site for 1 hour, price per day for wi-fi (normally free)at most sites. If these were incorporated into the price per night listing everything free I would haver accepted without complaint. DO NOT let my moan put you off. This site is a must. Forget Cornwall ANGLESEY for ever. The island is Fantastic

Our second visit in 2 years to this site, with our two teenagers and two dogs. The site is located in a great location for those who love the beach- the main reason we went back.
The campsite is organised with military precision, and pitches well spaced. Lots of rules and the wardens like to enforce them. Some will like this others will hate this. A new addition this year is the electric gates, you cannot get on or off site with a car between sunset and 8am (times for sunset put up for you!). In an emergency you have to wake the wardens up. You can walk on and off site any time if you haven't forgot the fob to open the gate, and have to walk all the way back to your tent !. Cars not allowed back on site after sunset, you have to leave car in holding car park area at site entrance.
The toilet facilities and showers are quite poor considering the cost per night (£28 for two adults two children two dogs and 1 car). Shabby portacabins,in lower field, and in upper field slightly better grade of portacabin with showers and toilets. The washing up facilities are also poor with only two sinks and all located in a wooden shed, which was full with two adults in it. To top it all they restricted the opening times of the washing up from 8am -9.30pm.
Lastly we were in the bottom of a field, when regular stenches either from the marsh land behind overpowered you. Lets say they tolerate dogs. On arrival we were told in no uncertain terms they were thinking of stopping having dogs on site as we arrived with out two bundles of joy! There is no exercise facilities on site
I would not go back to this site but if you can overlook all the issues, its location does make up for it.

We (2 adults + 2 Kids + 2 dogs) stayed for 16 nights on the 'beach' field in a large frame tent on a serviced pitch. As per other reviewers, the location is superb for a family holiday; next to a sandy beach with access to coastal walks. The pitch was spacious and fairly flat but remember to take some sturdy pegs because of the sandy soil and (almost) ever present gusty wind on Anglesey.
Facilities were acceptable. Yes, the shower / WC block was clean and tidy but could be extended further. The pot washing facilities were not up to scratch because there were only 2 sinks and hot water was limited to say the least. The wardens were helpful and the site rules were all common sense. BUT: I was on the receiving end of the owner's wrath when one of our dogs (asleep next to my chair) was not on a lead.
Other than the issues mentioned above I would recommend the site for a family holiday.

The location of this site is superb, yards from a beautiful, safe sandy beach.
We have stayed here a couple of times before but the owners seem to be becoming obsessed with rules which unfortunately spoils the atmosphere of an otherwise excellent site.
Free showers which are always clean, as are the toilets.Adequate washing up shed. Excellent security. No play area but plenty of space for children to play and beach is only yards away. Plenty of EHU pitches and 6 meter rule strictly adhered to. Large tents accepted but any larger than average are advised to check before booking or you may have to pay for an extra pitch.
Dogs are allowed but, be warned, you are not allowed to exercise them on site
The site is on a slight slope but most pitches are level enough.
The fees are reasonable but if you arrive before 2.00 you will be charged for each hour you are too early.
Recycling is encouraged and the site is well maintained and litter free.
There is a fairly basic village shop and chip shop within walking distance. Benllech is 5 minutes drive away and has a wonderful butcher, chemist, supermarket, cafe, bank, etc.
