Travelled with tent as a couple so can't comment on 'child friendliness' but located only yards away from a lovely clean beach.
Very secure site, with helpful owners and staff. Limited (but essential) facilities including a small, but well stocked shop, and clean toilet and shower block. No problems re lack of hot water!
Pitches appeared to be a good size and well laid out around the edges of (3?) individual large fields, many with EHU.
About 20 min walk along the road, or 45 mins or so along the prettier coastal path to the nearby village of Moelfre with good pub (inc meals) at the Kinmel Arms, and coffee/pastries etc at the wonderful Ann's Pantry.
Definitely one to revisit.

I stayed at Dafarn Rhos with my wife and two children (6 and 8 years old) in the first week of the school holidays 2016. The site is located right next to the beach with some pitches having a view over the beach. All of the pitches are less than 10 mins walk onto the sandy beach through a beach gate. The site has a key fob system to get in and out of the gates (drive in gate and foot gates) this needs a £20 deposit which you get back at the end. This all worked fine. The beach is very nice and was good for swimming etc. , the only slight downside is that where a lot of Anglesey beaches have dog restrictions, because this one doesn't it seems to have a lot of dogs running freely disturbing any children playing, in one case a dog actually ran across and weed on our children's bucket and spade.
Other reviews mention lots of rules on site and although there are a couple of unusual ones in the list they are not overly restrictive, and most of them are standard ones which all sites have but mostly people ignore. We had no problem with any rules while we were there and did not notice any other people being told off, but the site was quiet in the late evenings and had a nice atmosphere with no late night parties disturbing everyone else.
The pitches are reasonably sized and feel bigger than they are because all of the centre of the fields are empty for children to play rather than multiple rows of pitches, which is good.
The facilities at the site were OK, however for the prices of the pitches they were not wonderful. There is only one main toilet and shower block, with only 3 showers in the men's. This set of toilets / showers were clean and tidy. However to service the bottom of the field there were 2 portaloo style toilets which were not particularly clean most of the time and did not really feel suitable for a tidy well pitched site. Over in the far field there were also portaloo style showers which also seemed as strange idea.
We had a good time and enjoyed our time here and would visit again if we are staying in that area.

What a great find, have just returned from a long weekend stay and have already booked again. The site is well laid out and organised and the toilet and shower block were clean and although small we didn't have any wait for them. One of the things we look for in a site is dog walking close by or on site and this is one of the best we have found so far - 2 minutes walk from a lovely dog friendly beach with no restrictions on it.
The staff on site were friendly and helpful and walked us to our pitch pointing out the toilets, gates etc. There is a little café on the beach that does good bacon and sausage barms - doesn't open every day but worth the 2 minute walk when it is open to get one for breakfast.
The only draw back for us was that the little village and local pub were a good walk away so unless you're a walker you do need to drive.

Beautifully sited campsite on Lligwy Beach. Approach thro' Moelfre as advised by campsite!
Main camp field sloping down towards beach gate but pitches mainly level. Not many used levelling devices. There was a rally on the other fields so did not inspect these.
Two toilet/shower blocks. Clean and well supplied though maybe a little small for size of site when fully booked.
Didn't see many facilities for kids or much of a shop. Laundry and pot-washing facilities good.
Shop and pubs in nearby/walkable Moelfre, Tesco a drive away in Benllech. Cracking castle in nearby Beaumaris!
Would we go again? Yes, for the position, though it's pricey for the facilities and over strict on regulations.

Too good to tell anyone about it. Fantastic site, great location, friendly and welcoming. Good rules but need to warden the nighttime curfew.
There are lots of coastal walks with stunning views. Nearby Moelfre has excellent fish and chips, a good cafe and pub and an amazing wool shop combined with second hand books. Heaven!

Have just returned from this lovely site. The views are beautiful and there are lots of signposted walks.
We loved this site because of the peace and quiet. Abit sloping in places so chocks would be needed.
The toilet and showers were spotless.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Just a 5 minute drive to the nearest village were there is a pub and a smashing fish and chip shop, small general store and cafe.
Will definitely be returning in the near future

I read the reviews of this site before visiting and had been warned about the 'rules'. The entrance wouldn't be out of place at a prison camp with walls, fences and a security pass operated automatic gate. The 'rules' were read out on arrival, which took several minutes. We were shown to a pitch with electric which we didn't require (but were still charged £4/day for). We were informed that all the non-electric pitches were booked. You will need a £20 security fob for vehicle and pedestrian entrances.
The campsite is very well kept and clean. The toilet cubicles are however cramped and I was told that the water in the ladies showers was never really hot, although the gents was fine. Even notices in the toilets reminding you to clean the toilet bowl - do we need this?
The views from the site are superb and you are next to the beach and coast path. About an hour's stroll along a fantastic cliff path to Moelfre where the pub is OK. Beaumaris, South Stacks (Holyhead Island) and the costal walk from Bull Bay to Cemaes were my favourites. Also, check out the smoked goats cheese at City Dulas, the seafood kiosk at Benllech, the farm shop at Cefn-bach and Mon Halen sea salt. Loads to do on the Island if you appreciate coastal scenery, wildlife and the like.
After a week I found the campsite rules and regulations beginning to niggle. No radios after 21:30, BBQ's had to be out by a set time and turf burns punishable by £10 fines. Gates locked at 22:00 with a walk of shame back to your tent. You were also required to remove your car from the naughty area by a set time the following morning. I personally prefer a more relaxed, informal site.
A lovely position and most inmates seemed happy to abide by all the rules without protest, keeping themselves to themselves and being safely tucked in before dark. At the end of the week we noted that not all the non-electric pitches had in fact been occupied. Apparently the bookings had been cancelled! No refund for our unused electric either, probably in the small print.
If you want to meet people and chill, best go elsewhere, so next time I will.

This is a lovely, natural site in very peaceful surroundings. There are no shops or pubs nearby, although the site has a shop selling basics. The location is ideal for the beach (Lligwy Bay) which is only a minute's walk away. There is a nice beach café here. You can walk along the coast path to the pretty village of Moelfre (4-5 mile round trip) ant there is some great bird watching to be had. This won't be everyone's type of site and if you like wild night life, then it's not for you, but if you love peace and quiet and nature, then you'll love it. Facilities aren't luxury, but they're very nice and clean. The site is possibly a little pricey.

Stunning location with easy access to the beach, excellent directions from the staff which made it easy to find. The whole site is spotlessly clean. Don't forget to take levelling chocks though. My wife and I agreed though that there were too many rules which were strictly enforced, our daughter wanted to visit us for a cuppa so we went to let the site know, however it costs £7 for a visitor so decided it would be cheaper to get on in local cafe. Also dogs are allowed but need to be taken straight of the site when taking them out for a walk. I don't think we will be back as there was no atmosphere at all, our neighbouring caravan agreed with us when we spoke casually

Very close to beach - 2 mins walk from your pitch and you're on the sand (but don't forget the security key as you need it to leave and get back onto the site). The sand is very soft and clings to you and your dog, so the warm beach shower and cold dog shower by the beach entrance are very useful, and well thought out. There is always lots of free hot water for showers and dishwashing, and the commercial sized washing machine and dryer will take a sleeping bag and towels easily.
The facilities are kept spotless and the strict rules make sure that they are kept that way for everyone's enjoyment.
There is no playground designated, but plenty of room for your own games in the middle of the fields, and much more on the beach.
There are great walks from the site and local shops in Moelfre and Dulas, so you can get away without needing to move the car unless you must have the morning paper before breakfast!
WiFi is available for £2 a day for low volume usage, but it does drop out. Mobile phone networks are good (we tested on EE, Virgin & Three) and if you have a data allowance, then this is very usable on the site.
A wonderful quiet site & well worth a visit (unless you insist on noisy parties and doing wheelies round the site - in which case why do you head for the countryside!?!). We already have plans in place to return in 2016.
