We just love this campsite. This is our second visit to Dafarn Rhos. For us, everything is perfect. The ladies shower block has 4 piping hot showers and you can use the hairdryer for 20p for 5 minutes. The toilets are kept really clean. I never had to wait to use either the toilet or shower.
The campsite owners are so friendly and always on hand. The pitches are mostly flat and positioned around the fields so that you are not overlooked and have plenty of space. You are shown to your pitch and can leave your car next to your tent.
The beautiful sandy beach is virtually on your doorstep. Perfect! I love the views of the sea from the coastal road.
We will definitely return to Dafarn Rhos again next year.

We've just come back from our second visit to this site and can wholeheartedly recommend it. The location is great - right by a wonderful beach, which is great for children. The sand is soft, the water shallow and safe with rock pools for poking around for crabs! And the views are great.
The staff are friendly and helpful. We've had flat pitches and tremendous weather for both our visits so we can't comment on the slope/dampness issues. The facilities are perfectly adequate and the evening curfew is respected by all so it's peaceful in the evening - great when you're taking young children. There has been ongoing investment in security, although the electronic gates were playing up and you only get one key fob per family to get back into the site.
Fish and chips are better in Benllech than Moelfre - we took ours down to the beach in Benllech, which although smaller than Lligwy was very very nice. There's a pub on the road to Amlwch with a 'fun bus'. It's called the Pilot Boat. Don't eat there, the food is wasn't great.
We've been thinking that we ought to try somewhere different for our next trip. But to be honest we can't find anywhere that offers everything that this site offers.

We have just returned from a weekend trip to this site and having also stayed here in 2006 we knew the views were beautiful. Lligwy beach is a safe haven for children to explore and only minutes from the site.
The site is positioned in a truly gorgeous spot.
For this years trip we were camping as a whole family, 11 adults and 4 little ones. We were allocated 'the plateau' which is designed for group camping and enabled us to have a lovely community feel to our plots. We did feel that the wardens were a bit too particular about the arrangement of our tents but understood that we needed to comply with fire safety regulations that the site strictly adheres to.
We are normally big fans of the no noise when we camp but as a group it was very difficult to keep our voices to a whisper after 10.30 at night.
We were informed the first morning that there had been complaints from other campers about our noise level, which we found hard to believe as we really weren't the noisiest group on site. All the other campers were complaining about the wardens over zealous policing of the no noise rule. Roy actually stood at our gazeebo for 10 minutes one night, slightly uncomfortable I can tell you.
In addition to this, it seeems that seasonal campers don't have to adhere to the regular campers rule, as we observed a seasonal camper having an open fire which were forbidden to the mere mortal campers like ourselves.
All in all a fab trip, but we would never return as a group which is a shame, and considering that they have a group camping area they made a group of happy campers feel intimidated by the nightly patrols.

We have been members of the caravan and camping club for the past 16 years. We have just returned having spent a week under canvas at this site and feel we must recommend it to other campers. This is an ideal site for families as access to the safe and sandy beach only takes a minute - the site has security gates so young children cannot wander off site. There are some lovely coastal paths to explore offering beautiful scenery - ideal for photographers. It is run by warm, friendly people who were extremely helpful and polite, answering any questions we had as this was our 1st stay at this camp. Pitches are extremely generous, many with their own water supply which you don't often see on a lot of sites. The facilites, whilst small, are very clean and adequate. We would recommend this site to anybody - young or old and with or without families - there's something for everyone.

We stayed on this site at the end of May as a family of 4 in a large tent.
The site is rather sloping but our pitch was fine on an uphill section. I wouldn't like to have been further down the fields.
We had to pay extra because our tent is big but I think the site managers were being over-cautious; we could have fitted easily on a standard pitch.
Cost £25 a night a bit steep imho. The toilets showers etc were clean but inadequate for the size and cost of the site; especially the small sinks and cramped loos in the older block. The dishwash facilities are in a wooden building .
HOWEVER as previously stated in reviews the location of this beach-side site is ideal; Lligwy beach is safe, sandy and ideal for families paddling and beachcombing. The scenery is beautiful and the little village of Moelfre is very pretty. Benllech has all the shops, banks, take-aways etc. That you may require. We would definitely return for a short break.

Stayed on this campsite in August on another rainy weekend, when we got there we were told to follow a member of staff to our pitch, we were worried that we might be put on a slope due to previous comments on this site, but we weren't, we were told which way to face it
The Location was nice and close to the beach the toilets were ok and checked regularly, but the site didn't look very well kept and maintained
Overall the site was ok for a weekend but wouldn't stay there for a week. Many of the previous comment have been quite accurate.

Stayed here Sept 7th - 9th 2007 expect to pay for dogs (even though no dog waste bins provided) Pitch 29 quite a walk away from toilets and showers.
Now the good bits, the two wardens are very friendly, will help you any way they can. Pitch 29 is very flat with hook up and water tap behind, 1 min walk to chemical waste and the very fabulous beach, kids will love it very safe. Great coastal walks, little hut for drinks ices etc, think this might be seasonal. Coastal walk to Moelfre really nice. Good pub there but dear. Avoid local chippy, head for Benllech, as you go back to Benllech turn right at the petrol station its there on your right, all in all not too bad.

Stayed here on Tuesday the 4th after just camping in Holyhead. I share many thoughts with reviewers already. Ok plus points, our pitch was fairly decent and we were not on a hill because we were near the bottom and had a partial sea view and could see some dunes. The beach was with in easy reach by foot The toilets and showers are ok and the recyling was a nice touch. The minor points. It is £13 to stay here out of season with out electric hook up. On the steep side. I disliked the jaunt up the hill to get the the bins, toilets and everything else. There was nothing nearer only the beach. It is £6.50 extra to stay a bit longer on this campsite and there is know lacks on rules despite being out of season. I neither liked or disliked this camp site.
Owners comments: £13 is mid season rate, £10 is low season rate. To stay on your pitch after 11.00am (if it is available) to any time up to 6.00pm is not a fixed charge but ½ of your nights pitch fee

On arrival (in pouring rain - weather doesn't put us off camping though, as we are regular campers and used to pitching in rain) we were shown to very sloping pitch - even though site was almost empty, told which way we had to face our tent, even though it meant facing uphill and rain was making ground so wet that it was pouring in our porch groundsheet. We were warned that any talking after 10.30 had to be kept to a whisper or we would be asked to leave. The beach is beautiful and just a short, safe walk away. This site/location could be perfect.
