Was block clean but needs updating. Washing up sinks next to cubicles for showers, toilets and sink room. Showers 10p (I think!).

Freezer available on site for a donation, milk etc available from the office.

There appeared to be no clear pitch areas bar a few hard standing areas, and the main fields feel very open. £18 for 1 tent, 2 adults

Crasta nice and would recommend pub around corner from camp site.

We love this area and the campsite is really handy for the beautiful Northumberland coast and the attractions of Alnwick - and very reasonably priced.

The facilities were clean and tidy and the campsite quiet and peaceful, even though it was busy at the time we stayed - although we did have to queue for showers one morning.

Dog walking facilities consisted of a mown verge alongside the quiet road outside the campsite, with a strategically placed poo bin.

All in all we will definitely visit the site again.

Did I enjoy my stay at Proctors Stead? Yes.

Would I return to Proctors Stead? No.

There is no identified pitch layout and at one stage it did appear as though Rob on his bike was 'cramming them in' on the open field in the middle of the site. The drainage on the grass areas was excellent and there was no evidence of flooding despite some heavy rain during our stay.

The facilities block is extremely dated and one of only a few left that still charges to use the shower. Despite previous comments, I found the block at times to be messy - not dirty. Messy being a lot of water in the sink area and sheets of toilet paper on the toilet floor and quite often no toilet paper available to be used. The urinal has to be seen to be believed. It is a tiled room with a trench in the floor.

The shower cubicles are basic with clear plastic corrugated roofs. You can here everything that is going on around you including the adjoining women's block!

The site always appears busy with a lot of foot traffic and vehicles arriving and exiting the site.

The pub 5 minutes up the road, The Cottage is friendly with decent food. However, I feel they would benefit if they sold food right through the day instead of stopping at 3. 00pm until early evening.

Crastor is pleasant and can be 'done' in a day. The coastal walk to Dunstanbrough Castle from Crastor is a must. We didn't eat at the Jolly Fisherman in Crastor but the food looked okay - however, once again they stop serving food at 3pm!

To finish, Proctors Stead has the potential to be a great site. But only after pretty major investment. A new facilities block and clearly marked, hardstanding pitches.

This area is beautiful with some incredible coastline, if you are prepared to tolerate the facilities then Procters Stead offers a great base - just not for me!

Stayed here in a small family group and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Good clean facilities, with lots to do for all in the local area.

Our pitches were a bit tight but as we were all together it didn't matter so much.

Site was really busy and was told this is the norm but the site was still quiet at night time.

As others have mentioned the Cottage Inn is well worth a visit.

The road leading to the site was a bit narrow in places so that was a bit hair raising but apart from that I would definitely recommend this site and will def return in the future.

This is a nice little site in a great location. The loos and showers are in individual cubicles, which are a bit dated and chilly, but they were very clean. You need 10ps for the showers (wish we had known that in advance. ) There is no play area and quite a lot of signs saying no ballgames, so I don’t think it would be ideal for families. We bought eggs from the site, I think they also sold milk. Good recycling facilities.

Nearby pub (the cottage inn) is great, good beer/ food/ Wi-Fi. Easy walk to Craster where the Jolly Fisherman is another good pub, and there is a dramatic cliff walk to Dunstanbrough Castle.

 Loved it!

Lovely area and lovely man. The little cat that greets you is georgous. Anyway moving on. The shower block is large and spotless 10p for a very long shower I think there was 4 showers and 4 loos on ladies side and pretty much the same for the gents. Large wash area for pots etc and a large washing area with just sinks.

Recycling area. Good area for motorhome facilities. Lovely local pub The cottage. The food is fantastic and the staff wonderful. Free WIFI in there too as there is no connection on the campsite.

Walked in to Craster and the castle long walk but pleasant. Will definitely return.

Only gripe was the noisy foursome that arrived on our last night and were sat outside their van chatting and laughing loudly till the early hours!

Stayed here for three nights and was pleasantly surprised by this site. £18 per night which was ok. The owners were very helpful and friendly and had a laid back type of site. Was a bit wet when we were there after the Thursday deluge in June, but we were found a dryish pitch, no problem. The toilets and showers were the cleanest I have ever came across, CSI Miami couldn't have found a germ, spot on

Fresh eggs and milk etc at cottage. There are plenty of nice walks in the surrounding areas, Dunstanbrough castle. Do get some kippers at Crasta (spot on) Try the Jolly Fisherman (doggy friendly) Nice doggy friendly pub round corner called the Cottage. Aart from nice food and drink there's entertainment, internet, reading books, big tv, they hav'nt left anything out. Try Embleton, Alnwick, Seahouses, Bambrough, Holy island, they are all great.

We have just spent a week at this lovely caravan site and would recommend it to anyone, We were shown to our pitch by the owner who always had a smile and kind word, despite all the problems he was having on site with flooding due to some of the worst weather the summer can throw at you.

The toilet block may be quite dated but they were always spotless and are some of the largest we have come across - loads of space both for showering and dressing. 10p for a long, hot shower. No complaints!

[Well there is one - why doesn't everyone use the mop provided to clean up after they have had a shower!]

We were also very impressed with the well organised recycling area, well out of sight.

The local Inn is a few minutes walk away, serving good food and is very dog friendly.

This is a lovely area for a holiday.

Will certainly return.

Just spent 5 nights at this site, in our motorhome, unfortunately the weather was against us, but on the whole a pleasant stay.

Toilet and shower facilities could do with updating but were clean (and owing to not realising they were coin operated, I had a very cold shower one morning!)

Good walks for our young dog but a few maps with local walks on would be helpful as we did get very lost on first day! Lots of attractions within easy distance and views were great.

Only gripe really was that, due to the poor weather, the pitch (hardstanding) was waterlogged and we were woken very early each morning by children in nearby tents.

I have returned to this site many times and never dissapoints, always warm welcome from the owmner and Warden.

He site is always immaculate and well maintained, showers and facilities always clean no matter how busy the site is.

A handy location for the beach 'always quite' and lots of walks from the site. Seahouses and other locations within easy driving along the coastal road.

Good pub grub around the corner 2 minutes walk from the site.

The owner makes sure the site is nice and quiet in the evening.

Highly recommended
