Site makes most of old but well maintained facilities.
Our pitch was at the farthest part of the site at the bottom of a grassy bank, which caused concern for egress during wet weather.
Local power outages were annoying and the motor home grey waste dump consisted of a heavy man hole cover which customers are expected to remove and replace.
The site could do with updating with better waste and water facilities.

Very clean well run site.
Clearly set out formal rules and regulations.
Close to Craster and many coastal walks.
Definitely set up for mature dog owning caravan fraternity.

Really quiet in the adults only area apart from cows in the next field !
Beautifully kept. Amenities somewhat dated but always clean so no problem.
Walking distance - 10 minutes -to the Cottage Inn pub. Excellent food.
1 mile to craster and convenient for Cragside and Alnwick. Remember to look at the tide tables for Holy Island which is a lovely place.

The Good: Immaculate site. Good Location. The Bad: Too many rules, if you have children, no ball games etc. Too many vehicles close together.
There are obviously regulars as you can request a pitch number, so if you are new to the site, you get put in a far flung field which is a good walk to the showers, waste etc, no good if you have mobility issues. No view, as too many vehicles. We had a view of two fences and some static caravans.
No dog walk on site, you have to go on the road.
Shower facilities are old and in a barn, however shower was nice and hot.

My pitch was located in the North field, although it was the farthest point from the wash block, it was the most peaceful and I'd gladly use that area again.
The site is spotlessly clean and well maintained.
It's practically on the coast path with only a 15 min walk to join it to head North to Dunstanburgh or South to Alnmouth and beyond.

The site is in a lovely location and has good views. We were there with our son and his family and we were put on adjacent pitches as we requested.
The basic facilities are good and clean, although a bit dated. You can pay a deposit for a card to be able to go in and out of the site when it’s closed. No flexibility on arrival time, which put our son and his family under some pressure to get there in time.
The information says you can walk to the beach across some fields - however, at the beach end the stile was completely impossible for our lurched to get over or under - I understand that is the National Trust but it would have been better to say that in the information.
There are no shops at all in Craster so we caught the bus to the nearest (very expensive) shop. As it was Sunday the nearest bus stop is in Craster.
The biggest downside of this site was the owner, who was really quite officious and had quite a few rules. We got into trouble for taking the dogs to the bins with the rubbish!

Excellent well run campsite.
Loved our stay at Procter Stead the weather was kind to us, the site is very well kept and well run, unlike many campsite that shut the toilet block for cleaning when you need them most the toilets are cleaned in the early hours while people are sleeping.
All the facilities are very practical and functional and we’re always clean.
The location is very good with easy walks to a sandy beach and also two good pubs doing food within easy walking distance.
If you are looking for somewhere for a quite relaxing break then this site is for you.

This is a quiet, spacious, and very well managed site. It is spread over several fields, separated by hedges, so never feels crowded.
The facilities have an outdoors, old fashioned feel, with everything working well, and clean.
The location is great for cycling or walking, with a choice of pubs, cafés, beaches and castles in the area.
We will be back!
