Excellent site that is friendly and well looked after. Really enjoyed staying here! Will be back soon!

The site is well located to walk to the local pub which is about 5 mins away. Its also a good base for visiting most of Northumberland coast line. Craster is the closest and worth a visit. Lovely walk up to the Castle and the kippers are some of the best you’ll ever taste!

The Campsite itself has good facilities but can get busy although this never seems like an issue as the plots are well spaced and well managed.

Great site - basic and very clean facilities, flat and sheltered camping areas. Centrally located for lots of historic monuments. Great walking routes. As previously mentioned the Cottage Inn is only a 5 min walk from the site. Great play area for the children - limited food menu. I was not inspired by my choices of food but my hubby raved about the steak and ale pie.

Great pub at Low Newton By The Sea and fantastic beach. The pub has a micro brewery and always has a variety of good beers. Food excellent - if you want an evening meal you need to book well in advance.

The site has signs saying no ball or frisbee games, but during the week when the site was quieter children were playing. The signs just made them more careful of how they played. There is nothing on site for the children apart from some open space. The baby swallows in the nest in the bin area were worth watching though.

I would definitely recommend the site and would use again.

This was a lovely site out of season but was way too overcrowded for the facilities in August. I will definitely go back out of season but not in season. It is in a beautiful place and is a nice site - being ruined by overcrowding.

The units were far too close together and the facilities well overstretched. I was rather astounded that the people we went camping with were charged the same for a small tent as we were for a large caravan as well!

The owner was very helpful about finding us pitches close together though. Something I really appreciated given the business of the site. Beautiful walk to Dunstanburgh Castle and The Alnwick Garden is close by.

Just returned from a 4 night break here with our two children (6&4) and our dog. Nice site, large but is divided into different areas, it was full during our visit and there is very little room between pitches, just too close for us.

We had a problem on one night with a group of people camping together, really bad behaviour and no-one available to shut them up (not kids either just very immature adults) quite a few people told them to quiet down in the end and we informed the owner the next morning and from then on he was very keen with patrolling the site and we had no further problems.

One criticism we had is that there are no bins in the loos or washroom and no bins anywhere on site except the designated area and if you are a distance away it's a bit of a pain. The area is great, Dunstanburgh Castle is worth the walk,

Embleton is a nice village with a modern children's play area, good pubs and the beach is very large, sandy and you can take your dog. The Cottage Inn is a short walk but you can only go in the gardens if you have a dog and we were being eaten alive by the midges, average food served there.

Just spent a very enjoyable week on this site. It is in an ideal location for exploring the Northumberland coast.

The site is larger than we are used to but, due to having several separate areas, it never felt too big.

The friendly owner showed us to our pitch and even chose a spot with extra shelter from the wind as we had young children with us.

As stated in previous reviews, the toilet block is dated but is spotlessly clean. The only thing that is missing is a family shower or bathroom to make things easier with the young ones.

The nearest pub is The Cottage which is just a five minute walk from the site. The beer was good and it has an adventure playground but we were disappointed with the food.

There is an excellent pub in Embleton called Greys (I think) - good food and friendly service but does get busy.

We will definitely return to this site next time we are on holiday in the area.

Just returned from our second visit to this wonderful site, and hope to return many more times in the future. On our first visit we were shown by the owner on his bike to our pitch as has been said by the other reviewers. Lovely friendly chap. When we arrived this time he remembered us and asked if we were happy with our pitch from our last visit and if so as it was available this time we could just use that.It was lovely to be remembered and it felt very 'old values' in terms of customer care. Lovely !

The site is in fab surroundings peace and quiet almost a guarantee, lots of walkers, mountain bike riders and generally like minded people who are just looking for a tranquil getaway. There is no pub, club or entertainment on the site nor are there any children's playgrounds, football and frizby games are not allowed on the site either, so perhaps not the place to go if this is what you are looking for.

The site has a small shop which sells fresh milk, and eggs and freezes ice packs if required and really that is all.

The nearest pub is down the road in the village and apart from that you have lovely walks to Dunborough Castle and Craster with very little else.

Craster is quaint and traditional with only the smoking houses for the kippers, an art gallery and a cafe. There is a Tourist Information Centre with lots of information about the surrounding areas and that about sums up any of the local facilities. It is very beautiful, scenic and traditional and those are the reasons I would highly recommend it!

The site is flat and sheltered, a mix of hard and grass standing with some static caravans too. The tents and tourers and motorhomes are pitched together but there is also a separate tent area.

The toilets are dated but exceptionally clean and very spacious. Only about 4 loos and 4 showers for women and same for men so queueing is inevitable at times. Showers are 10p but they are very hot and 10 or 20p is sufficient to have a really lovely shower.

If you cant live without your mobile or internet it may be a problem, we are on Vodaphone and could not get a signal at all and out internet dongle is T Mobile - again no signal. That said we did see some people using their phones so there must be coverage by some networks but not sure which.

Overall highly recommended and can't wait to go back !

We have just returned from a wonderful week camping at Procter Stead,we really enjoyed the site and the facilities were spotless ( although there were no bins in the ladies)

We found it to be a really friendly and relaxed site with a great atmosphere. The area is beautiful and there is so much to see and explore, we saw as much as we could fit in but there is so much more, so will just have to go back !

Good job we`ve found such a great site, so will be going back next year.

We stayed here for just one night on our way home from Scotland and we wished we could stay longer! The site was ideally situated and the shower / wash facilities were excellent.

We stayed in the bottom field where there was plenty of room, the campsite seemed really busy. We would stay again if we were in the area and would certainly take our bike's as the area is ideal for cycling.

Booking with them was so easy and friendly, definitely recommend.

A very good site. Lovely owners - delivered us to our pitch on a bike! He thoughtfully put us somewhere we could lean our bikes.

Clean toilets and showers though you had to have 10p pieces for the showers which was disappointing.

A good site and I would visit again. No shop nearby though the owner sells milk, orange and eggs.

Slightly old fashioned but fabulously clean and excellent pub in the village, well worth the visit.

We have just returned from a great holiday in Northumberland where we stayed at this campsite in a large family tent.

The campsite is well organised. The facilities are basic but well maintained and were clean at all times. A shower costs 10p but for that you get more than enough time.

We don't usually bother using the laundry facilities but our youngest had an accident and we needed to wash and dry a load including a sleeping bag. A wash was £1.50 and took half an hour. The dryer was super and dried the lot in 15 mins which was a father 60p.

Washing the dishes there was always a plentiful supply of hot water. Rubbish is well disposed of and completely out of sight with recycling available.

As mentioned by others, there is no local shop but basics can be bought from the owner.

Dogs are welcome at this site and I must say I am not a fan of dogs but they were all extremely well controlled and on leads at all times and caused no problems at all.

The only downside was that there's not a huge amount of room between pitches but we would still go back to this site as a week wasn't enough time to do everything there is to do in the area. If you have children (and even if you don't ) Alnwick Castle and Gardens is a must. We got the two day ticket and spent two full days exploring and looking around and the kids would have gone back for more.

Craster is a short walk away ( our 6 year old managed it.) and is worth a visit. We never made it to Embleton Bay but we saw it from Dunstanburgh Castle and it looked lovely.

All in all a well run, clean, quiet campsite in a lovely part of the world. What more could you want?
